Description
Mostly ambient and experimental music, heavily inspired on the more surreal rpgmaker games in the veins of Yume Nikki and OFF.

Theme

Inside my world
Picture theme

How does it fit the theme?
It represents a journey to protect the dream world against the nightmares. Looking at the picture again, the soundtrack is arguably a bit too dark for it, but oh well.

Interesting stylish ambient... and creepy, mixed with gloom...

I love that! Thanks)

Stunning ambience and vibes throughout! You’ve really captured the dream-like essence of the prompt! The theme is constant throughout while having a variety of dynamic range. Awesome stuff!

I really like how you set the mood of this submission, I think the ambient vibes are contrasted very well with those darker ideas that you present later. I think you could have done a bit more to blend some of these ideas together well, the drums in songs like Exploring the Nightmare do start to feel a little bit of out place, both as they are a bit too loud and I think you could do more experimental rhythms to match with the creepy nature of the song, and I think you did this well in Battle! Overall a very interesting listen, would love to hear more from you!

The sense of ambience in the Introduction is spot on, really impressive track. There are great moments of contrast as the OST develops too. You could perhaps try and relate the Ending track more to the Intro to give it a bit more cohesiveness, but some really nice stuff here :)

Some really cool tracks here, and quite a varied selection too.  I love the slower, airier vibes of Introduction and First Steps - great choice of pad voicings here. Makes for some great textures that evolve over time, and the introduction of percussion in the First Steps is nice - grounds the track by having a steady beat to drive it forward. It loosely reminds me of something Akira Yamaoka might have done around the late 90s.

Tonal shift with Exploring the Nightmare right off the bat - cool atmospheres here, leaning much more into disconcerting territory. Really dig the pads that come in around the half-way point - nice and shimmery.

Battle is another departure from expectations - much busier than the previous tracks. I actually really dig this one - it isn't at all what I would've guessed would follow the previous tracks but it works. Love the more 'standard' sounding synths contrasting against some of the creepier, textural bits. Percussion here is nice too, much faster for a heightened sense of urgency. Some of the lead synth lines here remind me of something I might hear in Neon White.

The Ending theme has an almost dirge-like feel to it at the beginning. Once it starts to open up a bit more it moves into new territory. I dig the drones at play in the background here. This track is a bit of an enigma, I'm not sure how I should be feeling. That ambiguity can be hard to strike so kudos for that.

Solid submission all around - nice variety of tracks, all produced well.

Interesting soundtrack, mix is good we can hear all the different textures you put. Love introduction the most, really soothing and calm. Exploring the Nightmare was good with the weird bass sound design and note choice mixed with the tonal pads behind but to really feel the nightmare I think it needs to go even a step further on the "creepinest" scale imo. Good job !

Nah, your submission is perfectly horror for the theme. In fact, take a look at this diagram I created-

Really nice journey you embarked us on! Very particular treatment on the mix and the dynamics, I like the dry rhythms in "Battle"!

Dark dreamy vibes that are still playful for the listener. I feel somewhat reminded of some Scandinavian/Icelandic ambiance, especially for the first two tracks. Really dig your chosen sound design. It has a certain grimy attitude that intrigues me, but is never too scratchy to hinder the listening experience. Very nice entry!

Great OST that really sells the theme you were going for in a super refreshing way. Thanks for the submission, it was great!

SUPER COOL OST!!

Yume Nikki influence is definitely there. You nailed it!!

What synthesizers did you use?

Developer(+1)

Thanks. I used mostly Sample Science's Modular Synth VCO and Erik Wollo VSTs.

Your soundtrack seeps with desolation — a very interesting take on the theme. You brought up it was too dark but I like that you took a different approach.

The ambient sounds used fit right in and created an entrancing atmosphere. The battle theme was my favorite, sounds like Earthbound at a Euro rave lol. Great work!

I liked how unsettling the battle theme was!

Super ambient and dreamy! You were able to illustrate both peaceful dreams and nightmares in these tracks while making them feel connected and tell a unified story. Definitely takes you to another world, nice one!

I think you captured the kind of hazy, dreamlike vibe on these tracks. The dark atmosphere you made here definitely fits the interpretation of the theme that you're going for, and a lot of the tracks remind me a bit of the FTL soundtrack (one of my favourites). Good work!

Nice work! I liked a lot the atmosphere created with the subtle noise sounds in "Introduction" mixed with the ethereal background, and the sound design in "First Steps" and "Exploring the Nightmare". "Battle" is a blast, standing out not only because it uses percussion in an otherwise almost totally ambient OST, but because it is a fabulous track.

Nicely done! Really cool soundscapes and I concur that Battle is a banger. I can see this working with a really dark, atmospheric puzzle platformer!

Very interesting entry. The tracks have a lot of texture and their sound design is well done. Battle is my favorite, it feels very unconventional. It really conveys the image of a distorted reality.
