Highly evocative soundtrack! Beautiful sonority and truly consistent along the tracks. Every aspect of the composition is in the right place.

Amazing work rikuwru!

Very high quality sounds/instruments and I really enjoy your style! I like the emotional compositions, their dynamics and the instrument choice for every part, but the more dramatic tracks are great aswell! I could see this soundtrack being in an official game for sure! :)

Developer

I appreciate the kind words!

High quality work, definitely. You definitely got the JRPG feeling right. The whole OST is very peaceful; my favorite track was Suijin, you can just sit back and relax. Nice work!

Developer

Thanks!

Funny, the list of titles you listed as being similar could easily use several of these tracks of yours and I wouldn't notice the difference. Major kudos for being to really lock into the arrangements of those games and create your own unique ones. Orchestration throughout is gorgeous and arranged so well. I really like how you've handled leading tones and instruments - when they're present, they're breathing in the mix and thriving, but when driving without a definitive lead, the supporting accompaniment really rises to the occasion.

My favorites, which were hard to pick, are Suijin and Tragedy's Edge. As a whole though this album is fantastic and is tightly representative of a JPRG soundtrack. I wish you the best, I could see this vying for the top spot. Phenomenal work.

Thank you so much for the kind words! Those game franchises have been the core for the musical ear and style I have so saying that you can hear them in those games without batting an eye is so flattering. Tragedy's Edge is my favorite as well alongside Fatal Beauty.

Just a lovely soundtrack! It really reminds me of the area of Zora’s domain from the Zelda games, which I guess is pretty fitting since the game is called tides of fate! I love myself a good JRPG, too, so that made this soundtrack an extra-special treat to my ears, as chocolate cake is to my mouth :) Amazing composition, tone, and story, and an all in all amazing OST!

Developer

Thanks for the kind words! I love me some chocolate cake too lol.

As a JRPG fan, this OST was just amazing to listen to! It feels so nostalgic, and brought back so many memories, especially of Chrono Trigger. My favorite track is probably 'Faith', its stylish combination of a mellow melody with the strong strings on the beat makes it feel so good for area exploration. I also did a JRPG-inspired OST, and it was fascinating listening to yours because I went for more of an action JRPG, while yours feels perfect for a turn-based one. Thanks for sharing this awesome OST! It was a fantastic listen.

Thanks for the kind words man it means a lot!

Each track takes its time to reveal itself to you and it's satisfying every time. I need to play a real game with that title theme. Amazing first impression to an incredible collection of tracks.

Developer

I'm glad you liked the title theme. Making a memorable and beautiful title theme has been my focus ever since I played Kingdom Hearts for the first time so I appreciate your kind words a lot dude.

I really enjoyed it overall. Everything is well done and cohesive and my favorite was "Fatal Beauty". Great job!

Fatal Beauty: The vibrato on your flute and violins is spectacular, excellent performance quality. I think it’s really cool how you used the 1, 4, 5, and b7 scale degrees to interweave a mysterious but calm vibe.

Suijin: Another calm and wistful track. I love the melody interplay between the strings and flute. The piano is very relaxing and reminds me of the woodlands themes in Octopath Traveler.

Tragedy’s Edge: The vocals with the bells are so beautiful in this track. For this instrumentation choice, this is my favorite of your tracks!

Ren: In addition to Octopath Traveler woodlands themes, I also here elements of Nier Automata. With these comparisons my mind is making, I hope what I’m conveying is I really like your style. These soundtracks are some of my favorites!

Faith: The guitar is a really cool addition in this track and adds a little different flavor to this area.

Prove Yourself: Oh this is a cool change in pace! This sounds a lot like Fire Emblem battle music. I love the high percussive energy mixed with smooth orchestral string elements. Writing battle themes in this way helps make it sound more epic and heroic in my opinion.

Orphan’s Refuge: What do you use for your solo string sounds? I wish I could create that level of vibrato and lyricality in my string lines!

Overall: You have a knack for creating mellow epic JRPG orchestral pieces and I am impressed with the quantity of tracks at this quality! Well done and thank you for sharing!

Wow. Thanks so much for this review. I use Opus (have the educational plan since I'm a student) for all the instruments such as winds, brass, percussion, and string and Omnisphere 2 for everything else. I also appreciate the fact that you can decipher what I'm actually doing to make the music sound the way it does like you did for Fatal Beauty because all of these melodies are made by ear with very little knowledge of music theory. Also Tragedy's Edge is one of my favorites too, I've always liked more ambient, emotional tracks so I'm always happy making music that achieves that type of sound.

I like it. It's remind me of some OG Squaresoft game. Really awesome!

Developer(+1)

that definitely was the inspiration for my music, thanks.

Wow I'm a big fan of this composition style and the orchestration... I think you nailed the JRPG vibe here!

Developer

thanks man!

Very nice, cohesive soundtrack put together! Definitely hear a lot of the FF and Chrono influence in the string + woodwind arrangement.  I particularly enjoyed Prove Yourself, since I'm a big fan of the string stabs + those chord inv stacks. Nice job!

Developer

appreciate it man!

Astounding job! I actually thought this was a real game since I stumbled upon this through soundcloud's autoplay feature. The composition, arrangement and instrumentation were all strong in this soundtrack. My favorite song was "Ren" with its emotional piano and wind section. Great Job!

Developer

lol thanks, I wanted to make the cover and production sound as "official" as possible so it's flattering that you thought it was a real game. Ren is my third favorite track and I had a lot of fun making it.

Tragedy's Edge & Suijin might be my favorite song, you did an excellent job keeping a cohesive sound throughout the soundtrack ♡

Developer

thanks for the luv dude, Tragedy's Edge is my second favorite.

Agreeing with everyone, extremely underrated. Everything is high level and I'm in love with Fatal Beauty! Incredible job I'm amazed!

thanks dude!

Great production, especially on Fatal Beauty where the strings and winds sound expressive and natural. I would suggest exploring different harmonies and key changes between tracks for extra interest. Overall, I enjoyed your cinematic soundscapes and well-crafted arrangements since they convey your story so clearly. Well done!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for your review! Fatal Beauty is my favorite so I'm glad you liked it.

I agree with ShadyPopCat, this is extremely underrated. It has great composition, production, mixing, instruments, and vibe. My only critique would be that I'm not feeling the snare choice for "Prove Yourself" but that's about it. This, to me, sounds like professional-level work that can fit in a multitude of not just RPG games.

Developer(+1)

appreciate the critique and compliments dude.
