Message from the artist
I picture this as playing during the opening cinematic of an adventure/puzzle game centered around a lake that reflects a different version of the world to observers.

Difficulty

B (Hard)

Make a piece that has the same musical notes both forwards and backwards but doesn’t have to be an identical recording.

Charming submission

Love the music box. I really felt like I was watching a quiet and peaceful lake. With gentle fog rolling on top the surface. Great job!

Really like the whimsical vibe, and I feel that feeling gets accentuated when the melody gets reversed. Sounds straight out of a videogame! Great job!

Okay, that melody was impressive sounding amazing both forward and backward. You've got some sick arrangement skillz!

Really love the harmonic colours and the celesta timbre! I'm a bit less fan of the violin sound, which isn't very realistic but also not clearly synthetic. But it's just a matter of taste. I enjoyed the piece and can easily picture it in a game! :)

Thank you!

Honestly I'm not in love with the violin sound either. I haven't messed around that much with orchestral VSTs, so I kept it simple for the jam, but if/when I pick this up again, I'll definitely do some tweaking.

Yo some rallye spicy harmonics here in there. Especially the all the harmonic shenanigans in the Intro/outro give the over all lovely and gently melody some bite. Love it

Great instrumentation and arrangements that work seamlessly well in both directions, really loved the nostalgic-reminiscing vibe of the track (it reminds me of music from Another Code or Hotel Dusk), great job !

Sounds pretty ethereal, I could definitely see this being played in an RPG. The strings sound super good in the second half!

Woah you did something really clever with the melodies here! From the first few chords I thought "is that really gonna sound good backwards?". Yep it does and it sounds conclusive. And the reversal point is really fun! This is one of my favorite entries in terms of melodic content. Great work!

thank you! i really like writing melodies and thought i'd play to my strengths for the jam by keeping the voice count low. the intro/ortni was kind of a late addition - i felt like the added density in the arrangement would give it a little bit of weight that it lacked without.

now i'm thinking about ways i could iterate on this piece in the future!

I pictured it playing during a somber downbeat in a story. Dreamlike and meleancholy, really enjoyed it.

I'm a sucker for a good music box/kalimba-esque sound.

I feel like I'm playing a classic SNES game. It's so comforting. I enjoyed your work.  Great Job.

I really like the flair in the middle!

Sounds great! The track feels very soothing and I love the tempo changes and the softness of the strings. The tuned percussion instruments are very nice as well. This was a nice listen!

Sweet music box piece, very gentle good job :)

This the kinda music that would play during a puzzle in a Professor Layton game in a good way!

The section in the middle with the really fast notes was really nice and a great way to sort of hide the reversing of the melody.

"All things become crab" hahaha. Can't be unseen. Worked out really well forward and backward. I love the "turnaround" section with the arpeggios, like losing orientation for a while and then finding your way back. I see we had some similar ideas with the music box to create a magical/mystical atmosphere. Definitely fits the picture you are painting!

Nice use of the music box . Really love the melody. Greath job:]

Absolutely loved the kalimba? I believe lol. Great atmosphere created and I definitely got the feel that this was a lake mirroring its environment!

Developer

Thank you! It's technically a music box, but that's just a player kalimba so you still get full credit
