- Thanks for entering the game jam! Style and vibe of your game is great! I enjoyed the leashing mechanic and how the possessed body lagged behind. It created a distinct vibe that you are in fact the weapon! Given the leash mechanic it made defending the base (body) crucial. This only became frustrating around spawn houses (until I realized you can break them) I suggest having the keys mapped on the screen as it was not intuitive how to possess a new body. Might explore including an indicator or popup on what key to press for that, Thought it was neat to see the stats of the enemy bodies but didn't have time to really examine with the density of enemies on screen most of the time. (might include a pause to read mechanic?) Controls were smooth once I realized the sword was the point of reference for pathing. Combat felt good from a attacks were felt and you can kite enemies but at the peril of your host. Great entry and enjoyed playing your game!

Have you checked that your GDD is publicly accessible ?
Yes
Is your game set to public on itch.io so we can see it?
Yes
Summarise your game!
The game is about a guy who gets kicked off his body by a spirit. His soul now occupies a sword which can possess dead bodies. If the possessed dead body dies then the sword dies (game over). The player (controlling the sword) will have to kill, swap bodies and repeat till they finally get their body back.
Please explain how your game fits the theme:
In the game, the player is literally a weapon who needs to get their body back.
Is there anything you'd like the judges to pay particular attention to?
I would like to request some feedback on the overall design of the game. I am a relatively new dev and I feel like I get lost in technical aspect of the game as I do not have much experience designing worlds. This time I made sure to focus on the overall design of the game so I would love to know if I am heading in the right direction.
Thanks

Really interesting tethering mechanics. I like that combat was designed with this in mind. I liked the art style :)
Cool, i did a game once with this graphic asset, therefor i was interested. I like the music which is playing while gaming, but i do not like the music in the text based sequences. cool move sound effects. I like especially the zelda a links awakaning ROUNDHOUSE-Swordmove but the icons Zelda sound is missing from the sword. I like the movement and fighting, it feels good. enemys are also good.
Maybe work on a tutorial which leds the player step by step, first kill an enemy, than posess an enemy, etc. before letting him roome free around.
Interesting and fun little game. Would love to see more varied stats for enemies the player can posses from the start. Could have it so archers are much faster and speed also affects the swords movement as well. Sometimes respawning enemies would respawn a bit quick and would lock onto you even though they are out of typical aggro range. I feel the swords move speed should be faster than enemy move speed, else they can really catch up to enemies if the player’s body is far away. Might want to increase dead body timer to allow player some more time to think or pause the game while looking. Maybe arrow indicators up, down and equal would be good to easily show if the stats are different than the current body.
Good job! I just have a complaint, it feels like possessing bodies is just isn't that crucial for gameplay beside just trying to stay alive. For example possessing archer doesn't get you new useful ability, archer is even weaker that default guy. The special abilityof characters are not even listed in controls , I figured it to spamming random keys (space). But game doesn't let you focus on character skills and selection because you're too occupied defending with a sword.
Thank you!! Honestly, I agree!! Tutorial is obvious for controls I've been trying to think of how to make possessee skills more integrated into the game. Auto attack is something that I did consider but it doesn't feel like a good fit.
I see fellow 'take over enemy bodies' idea, I upvote.
Thanks!! Your game summary is very interesting as well!! I’ll definitely check it out when I get the chance
Really cool artwork and music! I had trouble figuring out how to possess a new body, and it was a bit too fast paced for me.
Thanks!! I can’t take credit for the art, it comes from this amazing asset pack https://pixelfrog-assets.itch.io/tiny-swords . The possession has said to be clunky, I added auxiliary controls but i think i need a tutorial the most!!
Here’s my screenshot showing the tiny text on my display. I am using a 4k tv.
Thank you so much for the screenshot. This probably indicates that my scaler is not set up properly -- I'll have to look into that!!
The concept is neat, the art is pretty, and I LOVE the humor you put in there -- I had one small problem: I couldn't read the text and had to put my face super close to the screen. Going fullscreen didn't help. Not sure if I did something wrong, but couldn't see much of the game.
Thanks for your kind words!!! The art is from this amazing pack https://pixelfrog-assets.itch.io/tiny-swords btw. If it's not too much to ask, can you send me a screenshot? I am planning some updates and would love to fix the text issue.
I really like the humor behind the game, its pretty funny and the mechanics are fun too. The gameplay is nice too, however I do have some minor criticisms. The possessed body pathfinding could be improved just a tad, as when it got stuck on corners it was essentially game over for me if I didn't have the souls. You also walk extremely slowly with a majority of the characters, if they were sped up just a bit it would've made replaying a bit easier. Otherwise, great job and well done!
Thank you so much!!! I definitely agree with the pathfinding issue. There's no pathfinding right now and that's something that I should definitely improve. I can also see what you mean by it being slow as well.
Cute looking game well done!
Thank you!!
I liked it! The pathing on the possessed body could use some work (especially when it comes to narrow hallways or bridges). I had to scramble and find a new body because my previous one had gotten stuck and killed in a corner. Most of the characters special skills are pretty much useless (Straight archers take too long to wind up their attack and can't get it out before getting hit themselves and normal attacks almost never hit their target because they are facing away from the enemies), so that could use some work as well. Other than that, I had a fun time playing through your game! I liked the art and the sound design is adequate and I enjoyed the challenge of the final boss fight. Overall pretty good! 8/10
Thank you so much!!! I can't believe someone actually played till the last boss, I'd have loved to see your playthrough. I have the possessed character just following in a straight line so the follow can get a little jank at times. I see what you are saying about the archers and the attack facing other way especially in tight situations. I'll have to work more on that.
good job
Thanks!!!
very fun I like the open world choice! Maybe a tuttorial or something similar to introduce all of the mechanics of the game, I found body swapping weird and also the bg music doesnt loop :( Also some kind of end goal would be nice but maybe i didnt play long enough, great game and keep 8/10 would play again :)!
Thank you !!! I’m working on adding a sort of a tutorial but it won’t be done in time for the deadline. The music one is weird because it loops on local play so i haven’t identified where the issue might be yet. It does have an end goal but I definitely didn’t make it clear enough!! It’s something I can improve on for sure!!
hmm for the music for me godot never detects I want a loop so I have to manually set loop in the engine and reimport the sound. there are some nice youtube videos out there I can maybe send when I wake up
Good job, nice graphics and sounds! I think you need to give the player more direction on where to go and what to do! Really good job tho! Keep making games!
Thank you!! I can't take credits for the graphics though - it's from this amazing asset pack https://pixelfrog-assets.itch.io/tiny-swords . I have received comments about the goal not being clear so I was brainstorming a bunch of ways that can be done. I don't think I will make it in time for the jam though.
Nice game, but it is getting repetitive quite fast. I love the art style and the music, fits very well!
Thank you!! I do acknowledge the repetitiveness. Ideally more variation on what you possess and what possessing them gives you would be great. Perhaps thats something that can be added later. I agree that the art is amazing, I got it from here https://pixelfrog-assets.itch.io/tiny-swords.
The dialogues cracked me up, great job!
Thank you!! I honestly didn't think people would actually read it lol
Amazing to see what people can create in just two weeks. Creative game with character and oh my if this isn't eye-candy :D
Thank you so much! The art is from this amazing pack though!! https://pixelfrog-assets.itch.io/tiny-swords I wish I could create something this beautiful
very fun and i loved the dialogues xD
Thank you so much! I honestly didn't think anyone would read lol
Amazing game and great visuals! Very polished, added to my list of games to play after the jam!
That you! I can hardly take credit for the visuals though! This comes from this amazing asset pack https://pixelfrog-assets.itch.io/tiny-swords
What a fantastic game! I genuinely had a blast playing it. Y'all have done a really good job on it! Very polished. The gameplay is very unique with having to protect your possessed character.
Thank you so much!!
