The opening is great for the first time playing but as others have mentioned, it is a bit slow, especially when trying to get the other ending. Though I don't think that's a takeaway from the great atmosphere! I was stuck in the beginning during my second playthrough but ill try and play it again later to try and get the good ending

Developer

Thanks for your feedback and playing!
We hope to update the game, as soon as jam ends with major and minor fixes -> like to slowly intro and skip options :-)

When he killed me, I screamed. :D  The atmosphere with the sound gives a chilling vibe down my spine, good job!

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

Thanks for playing and sharing your feedback! :D

Managed to get both endings, I like the overall vibe of the game and environments but it should really come with a warning about those flashing lights in the intro. That could definitely trigger something if they don't know its coming.

Developer

Great job on achieving both endings!

Thanks for playing and feedback:)

The Epilepsy Warning are actually added on the main page of the game, but perhaps we should add it to the game start screen too

It was a fun little nightmare scenario. I enjoy Lovecraftian horror, and this was the first game in the jam that seemed to approach that type of story. The intro was nicely done, and I'm not sure if the other people were textureless because of time restraints on the jam, but it really worked... it started off making you feel alone even on a busy train platform. Everything was pretty linear and straightforward, but that's not bad for telling a story, and the things that happened evoked a deeper understanding of the backstory without having to delve into deep worldbuilding or long exposition.

I got the bad ending twice because every time I got to the door that was slightly ajar, the "Press E to Push" button kept disappearing just as I tried to operate it. I don't know if that was intentional or not, to show the player "there is no hope of escape!"  but since it says "bad ending" both times I assume there's a way to get to the good ending. The only problem I really faced was this: like I said, the intro was great, and the outro music was fire... but it takes WAY too long between dying and being able to start again. After I died the second time I figured I should put it down before I chucked my laptop out a window. After I play a couple other games I will definitely come back and try to escape, but I didn't have to in order to know this was a good game and that a lot of thought went in to what you were going to do and how you were going to do it.

I had a bug the second time around too, but I restarted the game and played through the second time without problem. The issue was that, in the train while everyone was still on the train with me, nothing ever happened. I could look around, but the lights never flickered, the red light never came on, and nobody ever stood up or disappeared. Like I said, I did restart and it went fine, but then I had to wait all the way through the intro again. Maybe you could make it to where after you've played it through and watched the intro and the outro once (because you still want people to see the credits), you should open up the ability to skip them with E. You really want the player to get right back in to the action to have another chance, or else the long wait will make them give up trying.

I'm glad I tried this... I was originally going to tell you I couldn't... I'm purposely staying away from 3D games for this jam, because my laptop is trash and it hasn't been able to run any 3D games, and from the screenshots it looked like the game was too nice-looking to run on it... but I was surprised that it ran without any problems at all, smoother than some 2D games I've played.

Hey, thanks for this comment! Feedback like this helps a huge amount. There is in fact a 'good ending' haha, the jam version's ending isn't quite polished but the team is doing a great job even now to make it clearer and more reliable (though it IS possible to get). Same with the interaction system.

Very helpful to hear about the experience on lower-end machines, that's important to us.

The replay bug is kind of funny but we've got a fix and a skip option already implemented. We'll probably wait until the jam voting is over before updating.

Thanks again for playing, and your great feedback!

Very visually appealing! Felt those Lovecraftian vibes oozing off the design! It was a very visual experience, piecing together information to try and figure out what is going on, that is my kind of game hahaha!

The audio was great, really put you in the mood!

The creepy factor was off the charts, loved the concepts, the monsters and the ambiguity of what could happen.

The opening scene was a bit long, would be nice if it could be skipped after consecutive plays, the ending credits are also drawn out, I understand, but sometimes I feel the credits are better in the opening so you can get them out of the way or put em in a tab so people can search later.

Overall the game was intense, made you want to run for your life, and was entertaining hahah would love to see more.

Thank you for such a kind and detailed feedback!

We are planning to work further on the game;-)

Will try your game tomorrow too

As Tarkovsky said in response to criticism his opening was too slow:

“The film [Stalker] needs to be slower and duller at the start so that the viewers who walked into the wrong theatre have time to leave before the main action starts.”

That said, we aren't Tarkovsky... so the team is implementing a skip button for a future update, among other fixes and tweaks.

Thanks very much for your kind feedback, we hope you play the post-jam version too!

Nice job! Would've loved to play more of it! I like the disturbing atmosphere that everything seems kind of odd.. spooky!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for kind feedback!

We are planning to develop the game further;-)

Love the atmosphere, and the lighting was very well done! The sound effects played into the tension very nicely!  Note: Game child XD

Check out ours, we'd love some feedback!

Developer(+2)

Thank you for playing our game! We are glad you enjoyed it! I think you are the first one to notice it says "Game Child". Big props to you for that!

Ok, first of all I have to say that I don't like horror games and I still wanted to take part in this gamejam. Testing games is hard for me but also a personnal challenge XD Among all the games I've tested so far for this GJ, this one scared me the most, so I might say really good job!

The intro was splendid, good realisation, athmosphere and sounds. I think I recognized japanese subway, what sounds did you use? I liked the way you can inspect objects but I had troubles with the interactions, the UI often disappeared when I approached the objects.

Overall really good job!!!

Developer

Thank you so much for overcoming your fears! :D We're so glad you enjoyed the game!

Sounds we used - indeed, come from subways... from all around the world! You got one of three languages correctly ;)

Thank you so much for the feedback. We really appreciate it! The issues will definetely be fixed in the next builds.

DeveloperSubmitted(+1)

Thanks for the feedback! And yes, that's the Chūō-Sōbu line. Also I used my recordings from London and China, and some Kraków supplied by one of the coders

Submitted(+2)

I loved the slow setup and the building of tension. I really liked the setting too and the design. Was kind of expecting it would turn out to be more of a movie than a game :P I wasn't too impressed with the ui, there's something off about it. Also the lack of footstep sounds is really noticeable, I felt like I was floating haha.

I got the bad ending, wish it was quicker to replay the game, I'm really curious to see the rest of it. Good job!

Developer

Thank you very much for your feedback and playing!

We have already done some fixes and updates, and of course we are planning to develop the game further after Jam 😉

Nice game, really good buildup! The sound and music were on point and the models and textures were nice and consistent quality!

The interaction prompt were quite hard to use, especially the doors and windows, and some of the animations felt a bit stiff, but great work nonetheless!

Developer

Thanks for your feedback and playing! :-)

Submitted(+3)

That was really good! The sound choices were on point, and the slow pace made it more scary! Got the bad ending as well, I'll play it again to see if I can get the good one.

The only problem I had, maybe is only me, but when moving the mouse the camera moved a little too fast, so it was a bit difficult moving/looking around, but I managed! (not fun when trying to escape haha)

Very well done!

Developer(+2)

Thanks for playing and feedback!

Yeah, the sensivity setting would be a nice option, but there was a luck of time ^_^
But we are planning to make an update with fixes and more after the Jam ends!

Christ Man! i wasnt excepting the man to jump because i was trying to interact back with the thingy that open the door and i jumped hard ahaha, nice game very nice atmosphere that you created , its just kinda sad that it did tried to crash my pc a few times while i was playing.

Developer

Hi thank you for playing the game! I am glad you enjoyed!

Do you have performance issues? Could you tell a tell a little bit more, what exactly happens?

Submitted(+1)

i actually found that if my computor is low on battery the performance lowers a lot so this was totally on my side i think. Great Game

Developer

Ah, Okay! Thank you for reaching back!

Excellent sound and atmosphere! :)

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing the game! I am glad you like it!

Will check yours later too!

Nicely done! The initial sequence of the subway ride is superb! And I'm not sure but did I hear polish subway station announcer? or russian maybe? ;p Got the bad ending though :C

Good stuff: Atmosphere! Lighting! Environment! Neat UI

Bad stuff: While awesome, the initial sequence takes a loooong time. I wanted to see if I can get a good ending, but then this sequence got stuck and didn't want to wait yet again to try :( (A skip button would help A LOT)

Developer

Thanks for your great feedback and playing!

Yeah, we know about that small issue that restarting of the game after an ending is stucked at the train. Still restarting of the whole game works fine XD We could not change it right now, because of the Jam rules, but we will do our best in next updates :-)

Anyway -> many thanks!

Cool style!

Thanks! Your game style are also really really cool!
