Flying mechanics in VR are a ton of fun. I did have difficulty controlling the flight mechanics in this game, but still a solid implementation of it for a game jam. I also found the scale of the objects in the game to be spot on. Nothing felt too big or small. Great sub!

It looks cool and the flying idea is a great idea but it is a VERY hard game.

Also I kept dying without any indication of why.

I really loved the flying mechanic, maybe a little bit difficult but is still really enjoiable. I could finish the game without lot of problems. Amazing job here!

It looks really good and I love the flying mechanic! The voiceovers are a nice touch as well.

I ran into an issue where everytime I flew to the bridge, I would get hit with a white screen and not be able to see anything. Some narration started then but I would die pretty quickly afterwards because I couldn't see anything but a white screen. Not sure what it was but I couldn't finish the game because of it.

Other than that, I really liked the idea and the flying!

Oh, I played the easy version [face palm]

Can't believe I succeeded in one shot! Read other's comments, maybe I was just lucky. Flying feels so comfortable and fun.

Really well done! I played v0.2. I loved the flying mechanic. It felt very intuitive, and most of all, it didn't give me motion sickness like some of the other flying games. I was able to get past the cannons on the third try, by simply flying very fast. I know that time is very limited in the jam - if you're going to continue the game I'd like the path to be a little more clear so I know where I'm supposed to fly to, when it comes to some of those areas, the caves are easy to miss. But great job on the game!

Really great jam game! Like most of the other comments I had a hard time getting past the bridge, and it took me a while to realize the bird was flying depending on how where I was looking. I spent the first couple attempts looking at the baby more than I should have, and kept plummeting into the ground!

Definitely a very cool experience though!

Maybe there is a bug with colliders somewhere? As soon as I flew outside the gate, I’d loose all my life without any cannonballs touching me. Something to note, the first small stone bride would make me stuck and decrease the shields even though I was flying above it. This happened very consistently and me flying with different ways.

HOWEVER, after restarting and just flying really fast through everything at the start with more than enough distance to everything, it seemed to work flawlessly. I don’t know if it’s the restart that helped or if it was the speed. Really odd.

That aside, I love the idea and execution. Love flying in VR like that in general. The wings were low poly, but you made it up with effects, haptics and sounds, so it actually felt awesome to use them. Only thing to improve would be removing the slowdown when moving the wings backwards.

Also, it’s amazing how a few NPCs that interact with the environment adds to the experience. Good job with that. Oh, and the voice acting as well, that added a lot too.

I never knew how to dodge cannonballs, so I wasn't able to play too far into it unfortunately, but I really liked how you handled the flying mechanic!

If you still got legs to play, the after game jam version is an easier mode ;)

Awww man this is awesome! Very similar to the idea we originally had with our game. We also implemented a flight mechanic but it was nauseating so we changed it. This is definitely the way to do it, head tracking and arm flapping. Maybe holding out the arms to glide at the current speed would have helped prevent the players from getting tired. Really fun game! I couldn't get past the cannon ball section, it wasn't really clear where I was getting hit from or if the colliders on the cannon balls were just gigantic or something. Really fun game, awesome!

Developer

At the start we implemented the T-Pose as Glide  but we wanted to have the steering by the angle of hands to the headset. But the testing and math gave us a headache.  So,  we decided that: after the flap the bird glides for some time (I think it's 5s) and then starts to fall.  The colliders were big, you are right! I think we played the game during this week like a 1000 times so we mastered it and before Jam ending I made the colliders bigger :P  After the bridge section there is a cave and canyon section - simple obstacle course to get you a chance to drop the baby and  then the tower to deliver the baby ;) So Bigger flaps next time please :P BTW. We dropped the 0.3  build with EasyMode ;)

Looks great, exact match to the theme. Very hard to control, seems controls can be improved. Also it's not very clear where to go after the bridge.

Developer

Thank you! There is an entrance to the cave, Surely is not clearly visible ;) We made it in a different color in AfterGameJam version 0.3 thanks to your comment ;)

I absolutely LOVE this project, it looks beautiful, and even though it's difficult to find the path sometimes, I still had a lot of fun. However, there is one criteria I have, and that is that you get very tired very fast by playing this, almost immediately after the first bring, I found myself out of breath.
