That is a good game for a first one. I walk on the edge to get to the crown without arm and was thinking it's a bug. But it seems to be a feature. It would had been great to have multiple ways to "cheat". Overall good work.

Thank you for playing and the feedback!

Absolutely love that zoom out effect, but was very baffed by what was going on for a while. Played a bit of it last night (when I was half asleep) and had a dream where I blew up a planet lol :P

Developer

Thank you! this made my day :D

the lower score the better hmmmm ...

let me go out side and loop around to that crwon and win with 0 score :)

i was trying to get  as high score as i can i saw thats harder than get 0 score....

However it's a very good game in my opinion as it is  your first game ... this jam was my second try in my first one i did so badly and i focused on the design more,

and what let me continue is one thing positive comments from people that they knew it's my first game.

so i think you did good job here and thank you for not giving up, it's good concept of a game and i'm 100% sure that you struggled a lot and learnt a lot.

Developer

Thank you for playing and your encouraging words! means a lot!

Interesting game here. Though there is a lot of randomness involved (no skill at all) maybe some enjoy that idk. Btw there are a lotta bugs, you can win instead of losing somehow and you can go outside the level and skip all random bombs. The game would have been better have it not been randomised, so that the player can eventually clear the stage no matter what. And then you could have made more handcrafted levels instead of random gen every time, which makes it almost impossible to win. But the game was relatively nice and I the sounds were decent too. OHHH YEAHHH

Developer(+1)

Thank you for playing and the super feedback!

I think you touched on an important topic here which is the game should let the player feel like they are mastering some aspect of the game. In its current state, there is no skill involved so you don't get that satisfaction of clearing a level. But I think I could keep it random and still introduce some skill-based navigation around the grid.

To keep with the theme of messing with win/lose conditions,  the "walking outside of the map" is actually part of the game. I wanted to turn an action that leads to a game over in most games (e.g. falling off the edge) to be a way to actually win the game with the highest score. If you stay out there for too long you also die. I should find a way to let the user understand that they're not breaking the game when they walk out, either with a prompt or with platforms spawning under them.

the double win/lose screen is definitely a bug though :D

lool. The bug occures when I was losing, I somehow got the winning SFX and this abomination of cards.

The camera and the controls felt weird, and the game heavily relies on trial and error, but other than that the game is quite fun, especially for your first game jam, and maybe you're first game too!! I hope you'll continue your gamedev journey!! (^u^)

Developer(+1)

Thank you for playing and your kind words. Next time I'll definitely spend more time on the controls and change the general core gameloop to be less random.

This one is interesting. Was it like when the block explodes you zoom out?

Developer(+1)

Thank you for playing! So there is a mini-world inside the big one and once the little guy dies and makes a mistake the camera zooms out to the larger guy, who can now see the trap on his own platform and not make the same mistake :)

Nice game! :D
Figured i can go out of boundss, and got whole 2 points! :D

Nice music and not so bad visuals, if only camera related controls would be a little bit better... :D

Good job on your first jam!
Keep up the good work, there are so many awesome stuff to learn :)

Thank you for playing and the feedback!

I wanted to explore the idea of how the visuals and preconceptions of the player can stop them from stepping outside of the box and actually getting the lowest (well... the highest) score.

I very much agree with you on the camera, during playtest I could also feel it's not intuitive enough but had to prioritize other things :D

Very fun idea! Nice sounds in this game too. The camera angle was tough when figuring out the keys, but once I did it was alright. I had fun thanks for sharing! Good job! :)

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing and feedback! I've been thinking about the angle as well, and how to make it more intuitive!

Nice little game, remember the traps and run for the crowns! I won LOL :)

Developer

Thanks for playing! Ohh yeaaa!

The game already looks cool, but you can improve some aspects. I think it would be fun to play it on the subway on your phone or something. Nice work

Developer

Thank you for the feedback! there' definitely room for improvement here!

OOOH this game is actually real interesting. With a bit more polish, this could make for a really fun time waster. I always respect making a 3D game! so good job all around :)

Developer

Thank you for playing and the feedback! glad you liked it!

Walking outside was funny!
You did a great job!

I liked the zoom effect when you fail, interesting take on solving the levels.

I'm glad you didnt give up, its quite the enjoyable experience :)

I wish the camera was from a different perspective though, thats my one complaint, aside from that, great work!

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

Thank you for playing and feedback! I definitely was thinking about the camera angles, but also I didn't want to give away the fact that there is a larger box on the outside. But will work on the camera in the future!

Submitted

Way to go and not give up on participating! My "high score" was 10, I'm not too sure how good that is, but nice job I enjoyed playing!

Developer(+1)

Awesome! thank you for playing :D

2 is the lowest score you can get!

Submitted

I really like how you let the player walk outside the map and that became something. I wish there were more hints on other ways to win or what to do. just subtle hints in the game.

Developer

Thanks for playing and the valuable feedback! I'll definitely work more on subtle hints in the future!

Nice mechanic and I love the voxel art, good job!

The moment when you realize that you can walk outside of the actual map is just amazing. I managed to get a score of 2 with that mechanic. Somehow you get 2 points for reaching the goal.

I also love the moment when you lose and the camera zooms out, just to realize how small the first map was.

I'm glad that you finished your game. Nice work!

Developer(+1)

Thank you for playing!

I wonder how many people manage to win that way :D so every time you step on those boxes it counts as 1 point. So the lowest score you can get in this game is 2. Congrats on making it to the top of the lowscore board!

Nice game, the anamtion ist pretty sick! Just a tutorial would be helpful. Also i found this bug (quite funny):

Developer

Thanks for playing and the feedback!

--- spoiler ---

Since the theme was messing with wining and losing condition I left that bug intentionally as a secret win so you can just ignore the box completely and win by going around. If you stay out there for too long you also lose :)

I like your art style and I really liked the music! Interesting game I was a little bit confused about what I was doing, but I eventually got to the win screen. Great first game jam submission!
