Visually great, platforming feels pretty good, too. My only issue is that I think it barely fits the theme, and it would've been nice to be able to teleport back to the start after realising I had gone the wrong way! Great job, though, and please check out my game if you get the time! :)

Developer (1 edit)

Thank you! I focused more on creating atmosphere and something expandable plus I didn't have any good ideas, so I just didn't really pay much attention to the theme. (Greatfully this was allowed)

I put the checkpoint at the end to make the intended experience a bit longer, and give more challenge as you climb back the way you came. It was a bit lazy, but time got me, so I did what I could.

I will of course play your game :)

Visually, it's ideal. Brilliant contrast, great aesthetic, very nice and appropriate use of particle effects for some added juice. The controls feel good, and you've got a very solid base for a platform system here. I like the premise, and it executes that well. It is obviously very short, but I'd rather play something short and polished than something that outstays its welcome.

Overall, I think it's a really solid effort. Good job

Developer

Thank you! I wanted to create something atmospheric and expandable. Really happy that you liked it! :)

Submitted(+1)

Nice and short. I like it. Also like the minimalist art style, good color palette and it fit the music really well.

Developer

Glad you enjoyed it! :) I may continue developing it when I have the time ;)

Submitted (1 edit) (+1)

Very tight. Not much to it but it looks good and controls well.

Developer(+1)

Thanks! I want to improve and make it bigger once I find time. Hopefully that will happen fast. :)

Submitted(+1)

nice game! its a bit short but i love the sharp lines art style and the color palette

a few minor notes:

- it would be nice if you could dash on the ground

- the controls are a bit awkward, i would remap them to: space to jump, AD to move, lshift to dash, or if you want the player to only dash in the air, make space both the dash and jump button (dual mechanic!)

Developer(+1)

Ya know that's smart. (last sentence), but I do want the player to be able to dash on the ground. I just didn't have the time to fix it. I'll do that once I find the time! :)

Submitted(+1)

Ayo!! Nice game! Must say I really dig the visual flare and color choice :3 !! Great job

Developer(+1)

Thanks so much! :)

Submitted(+1)

Really good all in all, it would be cool to have more possebilities, like picking up objects or anithing like this, than it is more special

Developer(+1)

Yeah time got me and all that giberish. I think I might be able to do that later, I just need to find some time, and I'll improve the game!

Submitted(+1)

Hey! Some small feedback:

- Adding some sort of trail for when the player dashes would be nice.

- It bothered me that you set my spawn point to the right.

- I tried replaying the game and going to the left first. It'd be cool if you made the player choose the wrong way regardless.

Really short game. Easy to beat:

Developer

Yeah, I wanted to make you pick the wrong path firstly, but I didn't have time for it. Same with a dash effect. I set your spawnpoint to elongate gameplay, because it really didn't have much level in it. The easyness is intentional, in fact you can beat the whole game without the dash.

Thank you for the feedback!

I really liked the simple color pallets and clean graphics! gameplay was fun and I don't think it was too short for a game jam game. I think what you made is a great main core for a simple platformer that can be expanded upon with more mechanics if you want. Its easy to understand, which is good, and well polished for a game jam game. I also saw you posts on the Godot subreddit so it was cool to see the game progress over the three days!

Developer

Thank you soooooooo much!!! Now I know I made the right choices. This is defenetely what I wanted to achieve! A game I could potentially expand upon and is atmospheric. I'm really happy, that those reddit posts didn't go to waste! I also have a twitter and posted there too.  See if you like my tweets here: https://twitter.com/TheoTheTorch ;)

Pretty interesting! I like the art style,  the music and the smooth controls. Having many floating green blobs while the head of the player is also a green colored shape of roughly the same size is a bit too much on the eyes. Also having dead-ends by themselves is not so interesting from the player's point of view.

Overall a solid submission. Keep up the good job!

Developer

Fair. Though I don'T get how the green can be much for eyes. This was the way how I wanted to insert more color to the game.

I like the visuals, the outline of the character looks very good, but the way the game fits the theme is a bit ehhh… questionable…

I will say I love the polish touches in the jumping, I loved how you implemented coyote time and jumping even when you press the jump button a bit too early, that’s an important polish feature I doubt many other jam games implemented, good job

Developer

Thank you! I didn't actually really focus heavily on the theme and Jonas said that that is possible. Just wanted to make an atmospheric game that has potential and I sorta achieved that?

Submitted(+1)

pretty nice platformer, the animation is pretty cute, i just wish that the topic would actually be used as a mechanic, right now its sort of pushed to the side, its just a platformer with a wrong path.

hopefuly next time you will have enogh time to create a mechanic around it.

good job anyways :)

Developer

Thx! I didn't want to really go for the theme and Jonas said that's also possible. So I took another route instead.

Submitted(+1)

I like the aesthetics and simplicity. You chose a good palette. Controls were tight and fun, though you don't have to use the dash at all to win.

Topic is probably the weakest point here as the interpretation seems like a stretch to me, personally and especially since I beat it without ever failing or  picking the wrong path. You basically have a 50% chance of that happening so maybe it would have been smart to guarantee failure at first by changing the location of the goal and respawn point depending on which way is picked by the player.

Developer

Yeah the easyness without dash is intentional so that players can get pass the game. I was advised multiple times that making jam games easy is a good idea. It became a really casual game.

The topic is indeed a strech which is sorta intentional. I thought I can leave the chance of you not failing, because that is true with real life. You do have a chance of winning the 1st time.  Plus I was running low on time.

Thank you for the feedback!

loved the aesthetics

Developer(+1)

Thank you! :)

Submitted(+1)

I like how it was simplistic,  the music fit the game well too.  Nice effort :)

Developer(+1)

Yeah, I tried keeping it simple. Both because of the voting category and to go easy on myself. Though the last part didn't really happen xD

Submitted(+1)

Snappy controls and amazing music! Loved your unique take on the theme!

I'd appreciate it if you would take a look at mine!

Thanks! I will look to your game, if my pc lets me do so :)

Thank you!

Now I want more!

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much! I defenetly want to expand on the game, just gotta somehow find time for it!

Submitted(+1)

Cute, would have loved more!

Developer

I'll be expanding on this from time to time, just gotta organise myself to be able to do so :)

Submitted(+1)

I really enjoyed your game. It was simple clean and has a very charming ascetic. You really got a nice submission here. I think there were a couple of time where I wish you had a cayote time for the ledge, once you step off nothing is possible so If I was off a smidge on the jump it felt a little bad. This is especially the case since your game is so casual feeling in a great way. This is just some criticism that may help you push it to 11 out of 10 in my opinion. GREAT JOB!

Developer

Thanks so much for the feedback! The coyote time is there, but I guess I need to increase the time of it. Also do you mean the jumping was bad in general or when trying to use coyote frames? Curious to hear it, as many liked this project and I think I could potentially put a bit more effort into it.

Submitted(+1)

I was playing the web player version, and I just felt on a couple of jumps like I kept missing the timing. You might want to play with the coyote time. You should work on it. It is very nice. I really enjoyed this entry.  The jump felt good a majority of the time, was just the one or two spots. That could just me being bad at platforming.

Developer

Thanks for the reply! I want to make this world bigger, I'll just have to set the time aside for that!

Submitted(+1)

Nice game! The controls were very fluid and the art was great. A very fun experience!

Developer

Thank you for the feedback
