Who put all these explosive barrels in a place for driver tests! Are they trying to get jimmy killed? also I love the story!
I'm turning 18 and I'll be able to get a driver's licence soon, so this is probably me in a couple of weeks :D
Game looks good and controls are okay, but I'd change some things -
Instead of immediately dying when you collide with the red obstacle, I'd make it so that you have to have some amount of speed before it actually _kills you_
And I'd put the music source on a non destructible object so that it doesn't restar each time the level reloads
It's a fun little game, but I think by now you know already the barrel in the room ;) The controls are set up to go fast, but you cannot drive fast, as you constantly have to maneuver around the barrels, which actually turns it into a NORMAL driving test. This is fun, but it could be so much better with less barrels or another type of fail, or maybe even you're on a timer and get added extra seconds for each thing you destroy and barrels are scarce and explode, incentivizing to actually drive CRAZY :)
I like the second level though, and I think with a couple of tweaks this can be a really great game for in between.

Also agreeing with other comments, the barrels kinda ruins the experience. A solution to this could be that when you hit a barrel it gets launched into the air, and when it falls it explodes damaging things around it.
I liked the backstory, which is what makes the game fits the theme, but I think it doesn't reflect in-game. You could make an objective to the game at the other side of the map that you have to reach within a time limit, but while doing so you can get those points by destroying everything and maybe add an item or amount of points earned to have more time to reach the objective.
I don't understand what this game wants from me.
The game is called Crazy Car. I'm told to hit as much stuff as possible. So how come when I try to go crazy and run into everything at top speed, I immediately fail?
When designing a game, you need to be conscious of what you think the ideal most fun strategy would be. Then, you have to design everything to guide players toward this strategy. If the most fun strategy is too hard, or there's an obvious easier strategy, everyone will just take the easy way out and miss the intended playing experience.
For this game, the intended strategy is to run everything over and get out of control. But the obstacles are preventing people from doing that. So it's simple! Remove the obstacles. Games don't need to have fail states. I think this game would be much better without them.
Anyways, the visuals are pretty good. The low poly art style is kind of overdone nowadays, but it's a game jam, so it makes sense. I don't know a whole lot about sound design, but I can tell you here it definitely could be better. Especially impacts could be way more... well, impactful, if you had better sound effects.
I also think the theme feels tacked on. It seems like you just made a regular car game and then thought of a way of connecting it to the theme afterwards. That might not be true, but that's how it feels to me.
Very unique take and it was really fun.
It was really difficult to do, though. Maybe too much. Or I'm just bad. Anyway, a lot of the game was locked off from me because of that.
There are a few issues I have:
- The scene restarts when you restart instead of resetting most of it. This causes audio to restart which got really annoying quickly.
- You can clearly see where the floor stops
- Grass?
- The trees are not stapled to the ground at all, but if you send a tree into another it only records one.
I love cas and the controll and drifting was made so good, Except so many bombs :D I couldn't pass the driving licence test unfortunetly
I have to say: the intro is amazing! I really love the ascetics it lets the stupidity be even more present. The Graphics and Music and are also very nice.
The only real problem with your Game was the Gameplay. Don't get me wrong the idea is great, but the controls and mechanics are hard and a bit frustrating.
To improve this I would let the player turn the car even when he is standing still, because then standing in front or near a red barrel wouldn't lead to almost certain failure. Also, I would give the player more lives. Hitting 50 Objects is pretty hard and when you fail with 45/50, starting all over again is not very fun.
A fun game, with unusual (but entertaining) driving controls. :P Exceptional use of Jonas' face, of course. Only real dislike was the visuals during the backstory (the grey background, mainly).
This was just such a funny take on the theme. I liked the backstory also. It's all fun and games until you die!
Cool game. it was a bit hard. It was fun to drive around, but you had to be very careful not to drive against a barrel. Maybe if there were a bit less barrels, it would be easier and more fun. Overall a pretty good game!
Nice game, I was able to finish the first level but was quite hard. Sometimes collisions didn't work so well.. Good job
Pretty fun, loved the look of it and the driving was pretty great! I had more fun when I just held down W and just sent it so maybe it would have been better if you're always driving forwards? Great job!
