Really nice artwork.
Would like the controls to feel a bit tighter, but was still enjoyable to play through all 10 levels.
A bit of visual / audio feedback when attacking and taking hits would also add a lot.
Fun game, and the music is fantastic :)
Since there was no tutorial I didn't know there was a double jump or an attack when first playing the game so I ended up accidentally beating the game while doing a minimalist run. That's actually quite the glowing endorsement of this game though, the fact that even without a tutorial I was still able to do everything shows a lot of accessibility in terms of design. I also think it's a really cool concept to have every level have roughly the same layout with the changes being the enemy positioning, creates a very cool dynamic where you have to approach the same room but in different ways each time.
Good stuff!
Good entry into the jam :) I would love to able to attack in midair and a bit more responsive :D
The graphics are amazing and the music is fitting quite well :)
Thanks :) Music is not my strong suit so finding something that wouldn't drive people nuts was my goal. Haha
I'll be working on the air attack.
Thanks for playing!
Just got the jump attack working in the code! lol Big moment.
Honestly I played through the game and more or less ignored the attack button the first time, then I played it again seeing that I can attack. I must say it's well done for someone's first time programming a game, arts nice too.
I must ask though I was noticing on my second play when I killed some of the enemies the coins in the level disappeared, was this intentional?
Thank you :) I was so focused on getting something that somewhat worked in time to submit HAHA. Very much a learning experience and an accomplishment.
I did not notice the coins disappearing. I will definitely look into that. Thanks for letting me know. All the feedback really helps. I have loads of troubleshooting to do. I have a theory in mind on why that is happening.
Thanks for playing!
Figured out why the coins disappeared some were grouped with enemies :)
Huzzah!
Movement/controls need some tweaking, but overall a good entry! Good job! <3
yeah, having a little trouble with the code, but I'll figure it out eventually :) Thanks for playing
Pretty pixel art and good music! With some new enemies and tweaks on the movement and attacks of the player, it can become a great game!
Thank you so much. Ill will be updating the movement in the future. :) Glad you enjoyed it.
The character is so so slippery and fast!! It's really hard to control and jumps really high as well. That along with enemy mechanics need some polishing. One of the bugs I found is that the damage is only done when the enemy touches the first time. If you stay in the same place, you won't receive any damage after the first attack. Apart from the bugs tho, the game looks decent with good art.
Thanks for playing. I'll take a look at speed/enemy mechanics after the Jam is finished not sure if we are allowed to fix things, gameplay-wise during the jam. Hoping to fix all/most of the issues. My first time coding a game was touch and go. :)
If this was your first time attempting then it's pretty good for that IMO! Great Job!
Yeah, Thanks :) I've only been making games for 3 weeks now lol. Very new to the Indie Dev scene. Trying to find an Engine i vibe with so tested out Godot for this one. :) Found it a bit challenging but an accomplishment. Having fun doing these game jams. Hoping in the future to find some teams to work with not that I have a few games built.
That's cool! My first game was much worse lol. Good luck :D
It's a decent platformer with a fair bit of issues that prevent it from feeling really great to play.
The art looks nice and well put together. The level design, while simple and easy to breeze past, serves it's purpose. I liked that, if all the levels are looked at together, it seems to build on itself both in art and the design slowly growing bigger, or in the case of the plants, just growing haha.
The jumping, as others have said, doesn't feel the greatest. I noticed that you can only jump again once the landing animation has finished, so it might be worth looking into whether the trigger to be able to jump again is only reset after the animation plays.
It's a bit frustrating to not be able to attack flying enemies while also in the air, but it does pose an interesting challenge to lead them into a position where you can hit them. It could be really cool to expand on this idea where attacking is more positional. It could add a bit of a puzzle element in the sense that you have to figure out the best place to attack each enemy if the game were to be expanded. Although it was frustrating that the enemies can still damage you even after you kill them and their death animation plays.
Also, I don't think attack works on controller, though it could have just been me or my controller that didn't work. The other inputs worked perfectly fine though.
Overall, good job on completing a game for the jam! My favorite part of the game was grouping up the enemies and slashing them all down together. That was satisfying!
Thanks for the feedback!
Once the jam is over I plan to revisit the level design. I had to rush it due to lack of time. I'd like to decorate it a bit more and ad some variety.
Yes, I suspect the jump animation is giving an input delay. It's on my to-do list :)
I will also look into why the attack is not working. I use an Xbox controller, so I had to guess on button setups for PlayStation. But thanks for making me aware of this issue. Also is there an attack button you prefer or is standard. I can always change it from triggers.
Thanks again for the feedback. This was a learning process for me as I have never used Godot before and still learning But happy to have a working game :)
The jump seems to be working much better now, so it feels good to move and play.
The controller not attacking still seems to be present. I'm using a ps3 controller that runs as XInput if that helps. For control schemes, I'd prefer attack set to Xbox (X)/Playstation (Square), but that's just personal preference.
Great job again on making a game with a new engine!
Really nice art style! I am moving suuuuuuuper fast though.. I can't stick the landing on the second highest platform in the beginning. Besides that, great job!
In the process of fixing the jumps and speed. Getting lots of great feedback to make my game function better ;) Glad, you liked it.
Pretty neat game, I will say jumping was a bit hard to do while running but at least when standing still I was able to jump. I enjoyed how the levels progressively got harder and harder and also think the art style and music are great. Good job on the jam!! :D
Thank you :) I want to revisit the jumping when the Jam is complete. I think it has something to do with the double jump code and input response. Music selection is always challenging, especially to find something that's not too annoying if it's on a loop lol Thanks for playing :)
One of the most satisfying platformers of the jam well done!
Thank you so much! Glad you enjoyed it!
amazing style and animations but i would like to see more level with deferent level design
you can try my first game ever
Sadly, the level design was the last thing I did, and had to rush through it. I have never used Godot before, so I was learning as I went. Didn't think I was gonna make the deadline. I would like to revise the levels and a few other things (adding health etc.) after the Jam. Thanks for playing and for your feedback! :)
Wow, just wow. The game play was excellent. I played your game more than anyone else so far. Thanks!
Awww thank you! I'm trying to learn how to do the coding side of things so that means a lot. Thanks for Playing!
Beautiful simple game!
Thank you so much! Glad you liked it,
