just when i thought the upgrade system added a nice progression to the game, you drop a hats upgrade on me??? my guy looks so cool now, 10/10 would ravage humanity again!

this was honestly so fun, had a blast going through this! the progression feels so nice with every upgrade feeling really meaningful and impactful! the movement also feels responsive and smooth, making every single hit you take feel fair! each wave also has a nice variety of threats that spawn in, a lot of them playing really well into each other! im also very shocked that you got around to making a cool boss fight at the end! really impressive given the 14 day period we had! the gameplay is just paced so well and feels nicely balanced, well done!

the art also looks really good too! really like the sprite changes for the monster on every evolution, really makes you feel like its getting stronger! also has some really nice small details like how the monster sprite changes when close to the ground, stuff like that adds so much charm to the game! the background looks really nice too, the parallaxing gives some good depth to the 2d graphics! one nitpick i have is that i wish the bullets were brighter or more saturated. although i do appreciate using contrasting colors for the bullets against the blue background, i feel like sometimes the bullets were hard to keep track of while playing (might be due to the brightness/value of the color). i think having a stronger color would allow for the bullets to pop out more, making it easier to see! other than the visuals, the audio also does a good job at providing nice feedback and satisfying sounds for this arcade game!

overall super fun and addicting game, had fun from start to finish, great work!

Fun to play through and it was cool having a boss fight at the end :) I liked how your monster transitioned from flying to running when on the ground, that was a nice touch. The sounds got a bit repetitive over time, and it would have been cool to have some music that cranked up in intensity as you progressed through waves. Solid work though, this felt like a nice polished little experience :)

omg I love the sound. You put a (squezzy) sound on bit eveything and it makes the game very enjoyable.
Even if there is a "manual" before starting the game; i think you can introduce elements more slowly. For example: why can't I eat the plane while later on, with the first evolution, it seems I can? Can I eat the police? (Yes, but it feel awkward to me to try to do it). The universe and the idea is fun (we can play a monster!!). Your idea needs to shine even more so more people can enjoy it! congrats!

This game is amazing, the persistent upgrades really help elevate this entry and hats are just the best addition. It really does feel like a complete product like you said.

I really like this, it was very fun to play!

(although I never really understood how the police go away, or they are moving really slowly)

They shoot at you for a few seconds then start to walk away toward the end of the screen. It's just that you usually kill them or die to their bullets before that can happen lol

Submitted

Yeah i would know about dying to their bullets xD

Nice game! Was a bit frustrated at first because I kept dying to the bullets and couldn't dodge them, but then I evolved and could endure more!

Really great game, hard to believe this is your first release on itch because it's so polished! Love the graphics, overall aesthetics and fast pace action. The progression is quite nice as well, with upgrades that make dying a lot less punishing. Some music would make this title a banger! Only complaint is the fireball, I think others have mentioned this as well, but it would be nice if it would just instance new entities rather than reuse the same one.

I call my itch.io games snacks but this one was a real treat- absolutely gobbled it up. Lots off fun, felt good to get bigger and stronger and devour more highly armed law enforcement officers, which is always a good time. Only criticism really is I seemed to only have one fireball which meant I kept accidentally recalling it before it hit my target, a cooldown on the firing would have felt better I think. Hats make everything better.

What was your favorite hat?

fun game

Very fun gameplay; pace is pretty amazing yet challenging. I really like this style of upgrade-to-win, I've seen in other jam game loops - so naturally engaging, but scales really well here.

Obviously the art is phenomenal - actually gives me nostalgia with the skyline, maybe I'm crazy, but It kinda reminds me of Rampage.

There is like one way i found to KINDA cheese the game (you did a good job of anti cheese btw). Missiles dont spawn on the top layer.

wow Congrats on your release!

I love everything about this with one minor detail. It goes by really fast even from the beginning, so it's really hard to stay focused.

This feels like a game I would have sunk far too much time into back on Miniclip or something & I mean that in the best way possible, really great work

Fun game overall! Loved the gameplay loop and the small details like the sprite changing when on the ground :) you know I gotta be rockin that krusty krab hat

The game is over all very solid and the core gameplay is fun, the way the upgrades unfold from one another keeps me wondering what the next upgrade will be. Overall solid game

I honestly wasn't into it that much at first but once I got the first evolution something clicked and I wanted to see how far I could go.  The parallax and art style is lovely, and the only missing piece would be some music. I think this is a really nice little game! Good job!

It’s nice how you go from getting run over by cars to running over cars. Great job!

  • I’d say the game needs one more upgrade path like, “faster fireball firing”
  • The first parallax layer in front scrolls a little too fast and is kind of disorienting
  • Some of the feedback on when I’m hitting the boss versus not feels weak.

I love the little monster and how they progress.

The concept of persistent upgrades adds a unique layer of depth, keeping me hooked for so much time! It's really addicting. Also, the graphics are quite pleasing, although the fast-scrolling background could be a tad straining to watch, perhaps due to its high speed. Aside from this, it's truly a delightful entry. Good job!

Enjoyed playing this - it's such a playable game! Solid arcade action...

I liked the concept of constant progression through replaying, that worked really well!

One think I'd suggest is to have an in game cursor so you know where you're targeting the fireball better... I was playing full screen and I could hardly see the mouse cursor so didn't know where I was aiming.

All-in-all, a really cool and playable game - great job!

Man I suck at bullet hells lol. I played wave one multiple times but as soon as the cops showed up I got mercilessly gunned down. Very nice presentation and obviously appeals to it's primary demographic. I like the idea of an upgrade / evolution system. Honestly I just kinda like upgrade systems in general.
