Just wondering.

(+4)

gonna use bevy (a game engine for rust)

I'm making my own game engine, using the Zig programming language. Unless it's not ready before the jam starts, in which case I'll either use Raylib or Godot.

personally im hoping to use godot because its just so damn quick and easy, and im hoping that'll let me prototype and develop within the timeframe

(+5)

Godot

I love pain so I'm using raw JavaFX(That's right the java application library) even though things like LibGDX and an actual game engine built on JavaFX exists.

:D

:D

:D

Godot. It's quick, easy, and 4.2 builds for html no problem

(+4)

I want to prioritize art and quick deplyoing, Godot is my choice.

(+1)

I'll use Turbowarp.

Host(+6)(-1)

just for the record you are not required to open source and host the entire unreal engine on github to meet the requirements of the game jam rules lol

yeah you probably read something related to how the engine itself is not open source, but you can still host all the files used to make a game on github as demonstrated in this (not the best) tutorial:

Licensing also matters, just cause it's on github doesn't mean it has an open source license, it just means it is 'source available' which is technically what I'm asking for.

So here is the updated information about open-sourcing game built in unreal, So if you have used any Epic assets from the marketplace or from any other source which you don't have the rights , then you are not meant to grant a free license to those, and instead you can leave a link to those assets in the source

I don't understand this concept of "Unreal's source code is not open sourced" Well anybody who applies for joining their private team can view all their source codes of different tools they are building and even contribute to them!

For anyone actually curious, I checked in more depth: you are not allowed to publish UE5 code itself. Any intellectual work you do using it, including assets and source code, is up to you and you can publish it freely.
Make sure to include proper license in your own repo if you would like to have your work protected in at least simple way :)

I'm still seeing if I have time to join this jam but if I end up joining it will most likely be a 2D project using Godot. Should be fun :)

Godot, I’ve heard a lot of good things. Also I’m coming from Unreal and Game Maker. My friends wanted to make games with me, but they didn’t want to commit to something like UE which has it’s own baggage, Godot is open source, and people are really hyping it up. I’m really excited to be learning a lot of new things.

I'm gonna use Ren'py.

GDevelop

Using Unity because it is the engine I started with, although godot looks promising. Specially since I love 2D games, although I also wanna try some 3D with lowpoly style

I'm going to use pygame-cc for my game

I'm using this jam as a reason to learn RenPy

Gdevelop 5 for sure 👍🏾

It would be ren.py
