Loved how you used the theme! The art is stunning, the controls are responsive, and the voiceover is a pretty nice touch.
I had fun while I lasted. Couldn't get past the second boss, haha. Kept running out of ammo, then I focused too much on getting more weapons and lost anyway. After that, I went back to running out of ammo ^^'
Anyway, it's an incredible submission. Great work, guys! :D
Hey! I'm happy you enjoyed playing! Thank you for the feedback, it really helps!
Marvelous work! This is very entertaining game! Nice core gameplay! Unfortunately, I couldn't get to most of the bosses to rate them. But I laughed like a pig at the rhyming words in the tutorial. The best experience overall for me!
I'm glad you had fun! Thanks for the feedback; I'll be doing a lot of balancing in general with weapons and bosses.
damn dude, the mech feel in this game is top notch!
Thanks!
This is amazing quality for a game jam, I really liked it. The controls were smooth and logical, the tutorial was quick and to the point, the art/graphics/music were all at a high level and fit well. It managed to feel clunky enough to be a mech game but not too clunky as some mech games can get. But overall just a damn good game. Polish up on all the tiny bits and it could sell on Steam or something. Amazing work.
Hey, Cyborg9! It fills me with joy to know you had a good time! I value all the kind words.
Thank you sooo much! We appreciate you playnig our game it's even better that you had fun. Long live Mechs!
pleasant surprise to see you have very nice voice overs in the tutorials
the soundtrack adds to the humor tone, very nice
love that you can even have new weapons there
I think its satisfying to be inside of a robot with big guns and all in such a cool vibe ... and I see this can evolve in several different ways.
only thing I could say is that its kinda hard to play AWSD+space when your mouse is in your left hand
I believe something I did made the boss wanna hide beneath the ground lol
solid entry to the jam
I'm happy you enjoyed it! Key mapping, including a left-handed preset, is vital for a good game, in my opinion. If I had more time, I would've definitely added it.
I don't have an excuse for the the boss hiding, haha. I knew about it, and it is something I could've fixed in 30 seconds, but kept delaying it till the last day, because there were more serious things I wanted to iron out. I focused on other mechanics, and forgot. Bosses have different movement states. One of them is "retreat", where it moves the opposite direction it faces. In rare cases, if you are jumping/dashing directly above it, it can partly retreat into the ground.
The graphics are pretty cheesy but charming ;). Actually really fun.
Thanks, glad you had fun!
Was quite fun. I like that the boss can steal the weapons back. But i think maybe make the weapons swap "Q" for left weapon swap and "E" for right weapon swap and "F" for looking onto target, or something along those lines. I keep shooting at the bos and then I walk over a wepon and accidentally swap the wepon. The dialogue was awesome 🤣.
Thanks so much, we had a tough time deciding whether to use those controls or to walk over and swap. We appreciate the feedback and I'm very glad you had fun! :
Love the concept of this game! Always a fan of mech shooters. I'd love to see a more fleshed out final project version later down the road
Thank you. Mechs are awesome!
On of the best games of this jam. The theme plays an important role on the main game mechanic, which is intuitive and fun to use. The robot's designs were creative and guns felt satisfying to shoot. Great game! Good luck on the jam!
Thanks alot, it's really nice to know you had a good experience. :)
I am thrilled you had a good experience, and feel that way about the game!
Just finished all 3 bosses and really enjoyed it. I think this might be the best use of the exchange theme I have seen so far with both weapons being exchanged and the stocks mechanic. The game felt really well polished and the voice acting was a nice touch. I did find the second boss a lot harder than the third due to the ends of the tentacles being harder hit but that wasn't really a problem. Overall the game was really enjoyable :D
Thanks for the feedback; I am glad you enjoyed it!
Amazing man, It feels great to know you had a good time
Thanks alot! We really gave it our all, so the feedback is greatly appreciated.
Wow, i am so happy to see a Mech Sim in this game jam. I'm really pissed off that this game is rated by only 14 people. It could be due to the fact that the Mech games are a niche genre and some people may find this game too complicated but still it pisses me off. I love every kind of medium related to mechs especially if it's well made.
Graphics of the game are very succesful in my opinion. I like the design of mechs, the HUD, weapons ,they all look very cool. Considering that all these were made by you within a month, it's a great achievment.
I don't know how many bosses are there in the game but i couldn't beat the second boss. The stock exhange system is interesting but there are too many things to watch for. Your health, ammo, number of weapon exchanges remaining, stock exhange, damaging the boss, watching all these feels pretty overwhelming. You focus on one thing, you die of something else. In a fast past action game like this, it could be frustrating. It's very difficult to balance it out.
Overall it's a creative and bold game which belongs to a niche genre. I admire your work and wish you luck in your future projects.
Hey, Kazure Okami! Thank you so much for playing and the kind words, I really do appreciate it.
All of your points are valid — after the jam, I plan on doing a lot of balancing, and also adding a progression where the more tricky mechanics are slowly introduced throughout multiple fights, rather than at once in the beginning.
Thank you for the feedback, it helps me a lot.
very good and really creative in its ideas maybe I think the mechanics were really creative and fit with the theme well. I think the stuff with the stocks were kinda pushing it though theres already so much stuff the game throws at you that can make you lose and stocks and the ability to lose all your weapons kind of became to much.
Thanks for playing, and for the feedback!
Love the voiceacting and the setting of the game! Really cool bosses and exchange mechanic feels good, for the most of the time...
It was a big mistake to give stock weapons limited ammo, they are weak, really not that accurate and have 15 bullets each?! And worst of all, if you ran out of them(which really easy to do) and didn't cut off the weapons with those joke of a guns(which is similary really easy to do) you are forsed to start the boss all over again!
Really screwed me up, but the mainloop was really fun and more mecha games are always better!
Hahaha, I'm so happy you enjoyed it!
I saw a possibility where players would ignore the other weapons, and just use the default guns, so I didn't risk making them infinite or too strong. Infinite weapons do also clash with the stock mechanic. I compensated by scattering a few free guns around the arena.
You are right, though; they can and should definitely be balanced better, and I plan on doing so once the jam is over.
Thanks for the feedback, and thank you for playing =]
I'm glad you had fun. Hit me up next time and i'll give you more ammo from my head stash. Your feedback is greatly appreciated! :)
It's a good and fun game. It has beautiful and stylish images. An interesting theme is used. The thing I would like to recommend is to try to make the game more thrilling and have faster gameplay. There is a skill gauge to release power. There is an automatic aiming assistant to make attacking enemies easier. Overall it's a fun game!
Thanks for the feedback!
I think the first boss was a bit too spongy but the second not enough haha! I like the game though it was fun to play :) But I had the running out of weapons game over which honestly miffed me a bit.. I would recommend maybe a melee attack that's just used to lop off a enemies weapon when you need ammo just so you dont get a game over ... Like a high risk high reward type attack!
I also really liked the background! You all used simple geometry to create interesting shapes with interesting colour and lighting!
Anyway though really good effort :)
I'm happy you had fun!
The first and second boss have the same amount of health, difficulty difference being the second one is faster, harder to hit, and has a slightly more complex turret layout with the moving tentacles. When you take damage, the boss gains health. You probably got used to the combat by the second boss, and were getting hit a lot less than the first.
I like your idea about the melee weapon, but infinite ammo weapons clash with the stock mechanic, since they don't affect any values. That is why the default weapons, while easily replenishable, have limited ammo. But that doesn't mean your criticism isn't valid, and there is no better option than the running out of weapons game over. We have ideas how to replace it after the jam.
Thanks for the feedback!
Thanks for playing! We will take your thoughts into condieration as we move foreward.
Creative theme very well implemented, The game was a blast to play, art style was weirdly pretty, suited the game very nicely.
The movement felt sluggish but I guess that comes with being a 12 ton mech.
Lovely voice acting as well.
Thanks for playing! You're right, we wanted to give the mech some weight in its movement.
A really nice mecha game. The exchange mechanic is really interesting, and the game is incredibly polished and complete, the voice acting was a welcome surprise. Props for the amazing visuals as well, it looks amazing, I love what you've done with the colors/lights. A really complete experience, good job!
Thanks for playing! I'm really glad you had a good time!
I'm so happy to hear you liked it!
Honestly a pretty fun game, and I love how the theme of exchange is applied, the only lacking things were the world environment, otherwise i mostly loved the game. Voice acting was cool too.
Hey, Neel! I'm glad the game was a good experience for you!
Thanks Neil!
I had some much fun while playing this. At first it was a little hard to get but once it clicks it becomes so much fun! I loved it!
Hey, ReptilesAndSuch! I'm so happy you had a good time playing it.
The theme was interestingly implemented.I didn't think I'd enjoy playing for mecha so much. Thanks for the interesting experience.
Thanks for playing!
Hey, reckrut! Thanks for giving the game a chance, I'm glad you enjoyed it.
