How does your game fit the theme?
The game seems really silly, funny and calm untill... yes, you guessed it, a storm arrives.

Did you write all the code and made all the assets from scratch?
I used assets from Sketchfab and itch.io, adhering to their licenses. The code was entirely developed during the game jam period, and the character controller was sourced from the Unity Asset Store.

Great game! i admit it was pretty difficult and some mechanics weren't quite well explained, but otherwise i really enjoyed it, especially those low res textures and low poly models!

oh my god the dead memes....

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much!!! Hahahah the memes were all really old but I thought that made it funnier.

Submitted

I love these styles of games.

I didn't pay attention to the tv broadcast the first time around so it's safe to say that was a quick death...

Developer

Thank you for playing! Do you think I should put a fixed camera for the TV broadcast?

Submitted(+1)

You should probably put the camera to focus in on the tv, it'll help idiots like me and potentially add immersion?

Developer

Ok ty! I will have that in mind for the next time.

The bait and switch from being a chill task based game similar to 'How to rob a gas station' to an intense endless survival game is executed well and creates for an interesting and fun gameplay experience.

In addition, the low rez visuals are nice to look at and are implemented as if the assets truly belonged with each other. The audio is well done as it had an abundance of sound effects that fit with what's happening on screen and it also had the music change from something chill to something intense and scary, adding to the intensity of the gameplay.

Even the TV goes from displaying memes to showing instructions, then static to further sell the fact the storm is a serious threat, which helps the game tie in with theme really well.

Wish I could pet the dog though. Very solid game regardless 👍👍

Developer

Thank you for the feedback! I wanted to include more interactions with the dog but didn’t have enough time to implement them. 😔 Still, I’m glad you enjoyed the game!

I couldn't figure out how to place down the cards :(

Developer

Oh Im sorry to hear that. You have to aim at them and press E when they are outlined.

just the way the dog moves XD
loved the memes and the graphics and audio of it as well and i think the only flaw in this game was the fact that the player can just not care about whats going on on the tv and just look for a way to eat their food and not find out exactly what they should do after the storm starts(dont ask me how this came to my mind XD)

Developer(+1)

Hahaha, thank you!! Yeah, I probably should’ve made the camera focus on the TV, even if the player didn’t want to, to avoid that issue. It actually happened to a few people! I’m glad you liked it.

Memes? Und doggies? YIPPEEEEEEEE!

The game was fun! It took a little bit to figure out what to do when the lights shut off because I was panicking. I was hunting for holes with my hammer but they were hard to spot in the darkness. I managed to survive 3:30 by hugging the valve and using the forbidden SECOND FLOOR TECHNIQUE.

Overall the graphics and audio were great, and out of every game I played this Jam, this fit the theme the ABSOLUTE best, so if you don't get top 3 in that category I will be angry. Great job!

Developer

"Haha, thank you so much! I'm really glad you enjoyed the game. By the way, surviving for 3:30 is impressive—great job!

I just saw your game now and it looks very interesting to me in multiple ways. I may want to take a closer look at yor specific game before rating it, I have a couple questions about your specific game that can help me a lot and if you could answer both of them as best you can (or at least the 2nd one) before I try the game again it may help me a lot.

  • Do you know what exact Unity version number did you make this game in? For me, all the audio crackles immediately including the intro audio if I use my USB audio interface, but the audio sounds perfect as long as I use the stock Windows audio device, so for your game I may use the stock audio only so I hear the audio correctly.
    • I want to know what exact Unity version did you use to make this game for my own curiosity. For example, so I can try to avoid using this version to develop any Unity game, since I don't like this issue and want to avoid this specific edge case. That's just in case some people also may be using a similar audio device which may cause it to crackle.
      • I am pretty sure I didn't use this version in my jam submission since my game doesn't have this issue, but I am very curious what version this is so I can consider to just avoid it, since sometimes I may be developing with different versions of Unity and may want to avoid using the particular Unity version you used to develop this game.
  • About your game itself, I am having trouble starting to play it, so I have skipped rating it for now just in case.
    • I can see the white outline in the card when mousing over it, but when I click it or press any button nothing happens. It's possible I missed something, or it's possible I have some weird bug besides the audio crackling thing.
      • In case it might be a bug, I may see if I can try your game on another computer and see if it works better.
      • In case it's because I missed it, let me know what you're supposed to do in the very beginning of the game where you are holding the cards.
Developer

Thank you for asking before rating—I really appreciate it. To answer your questions, the game was made in Unity 2022.3.9f1. Did you try using 'E' to interact with the cards? If you did and it still didn’t work, I’m not sure what the issue might be. I definitely should’ve made it clear that 'E' was the interact key instead of leaving it up to the player to guess.

Thanks it helped a lot. I was able to play it now

The dog should have been doge :(

The dog kept on pushing me up so i couldnt get the water out.

9/10 game i loved it.

It reminds me of this game i played a while back which is really fun https://poto-software.itch.io/how-to-rob-a-gas-station

Developer

Thank you!!! I’m so happy to hear that. I dont remember adding the dog killer mechanic though 🤔.

Thank you so much!! I’m glad you liked it. I’d be happy to play your game too! :)

I really enjoyed this! The humor was subtle and well-placed, especially with the dog and the memes on the TV. The gameplay was fun, although the hammer mechanic could be a little clearer. Overall, it’s impressive for a week’s work, and I had a great time playing it!

Developer

Yeah, the hammer could definitely be improved. I made it with little time left, so I didn’t get the sounds, the visibility of the holes, or the tutorial to feel the way I wanted. But thanks for the feedback! I’m glad you enjoyed it.

Submitted(+1)

I Played your game. Memes on the TV were a nice touch. It took me some time to find the controls though. And the dog was cute and funny. Overall, fun game. Good Job.

Developer

Thank you! The controls are listed on the game page, but I should definitely add them in the game itself since no one usually checks that during a jam unless it’s WebGL. I’m glad you liked it, thanks! :)

fits the theme perfectly and the voices were goofy, good job

Developer

Thank you hahahah!!

Like the visuals and shadering. A bit confused on some mechanic and I didn't complete the game but great job in just 7 days!

Developer

Thanks! The tutorial was shown on the TV, but I think it wasn’t super clear, so that’s definitely something I need to improve. Appreciate it!

Very good game, I played it and liked it!)

Developer

Thank you so much! Your game was great too!

The inanimated dog for some reason is so charming, game looks great with the memes.

I got a little bit confused with the mechanic tho, not sure what to do with the hammer...?

Edit: Oh and the audio volume is a bit off I feel, some sound is a bit too loud compare to the rest.

Developer(+1)

Thanks a lot for the feedback! Regarding the hammer, it was meant to repair holes in the walls, which the TV explained, but I didn’t make the holes as visible as I should have. The sound effects were also an issue, with multiple audio sources causing some sounds to not play and others to be too loud or off. I really appreciate your feedback and will try to improve it for the next time, thank you!
