How does your game fit the theme?
SINGULARITY focuses on the moment before the big bang. Two particles have to collide exactly at the right time. Until then, they need to be kept calm and stable. Your goal is to keep the particles as stable (calm) as possible, if you fail, the universe is never created. If you succeed, the particles will collide and cause the big bang (storm)

Did you write all the code and made all the assets from scratch?
Everything was made by me or is under an open license. All credits are present in the game.

Really creative game idea! As a physics nerd I love the settings of the game (even though I'd have to argue that the concept of time and space doesn't actually exist before the big bang, but that is another story ;)).

Also liked the escalating music, nice touch. And I've finally seen a use for the warp_mouse() functionality xD

I'd appreciate if you try my game as well, we need a few more ratings to get to 20.

Really cool game, i think the interpretation of the theme and the mechanics are very interesting and original

Submitted(+1)

This game is super fun and addictive, with chaotic gameplay that perfectly nails the theme. The graphics, music, and effects are fantastic, though the threads were a bit confusing and hard to control at first. The tutorial could use more detail, and the sound settings reset each time, but once I figured out the mechanics, it was incredibly satisfying. A countdown at the start and clearer control over the particles would help, but overall, the game is polished, unique, and a blast to play!

This is completely and utterly Amazing! The gameplay is phenomenal, the song is a banger, you're really pushing what's possible with Godot!

(will there be a release for the bgm?)

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

Thank you!

Edit: misread your question at first, my bad!

To be honest, I would never expect anyone to want the bgm haha but if you want I can release it! Any preferred platform(s)?

Nice mechanics, the art fits the concept. Overall a nice work. Good Luck!

Very interesting interaction, very good graphics and particle systems, quite entertaining.

The audio and visual of this game is just magnificient!!

Holy cow your game is absolutely phenomenal. This is my favorite game of this jam for sure. The game loop is like straight dopamine to the brain and I loved how chaotic it got at the end, really really sells the theme incredibly well! This is seriously too good and I hope you win it all! The only critiques I have, though very minor, were that the threads were quite confusing at first because I didn't understand the explanation in the tutorial, but once you get them they seemed a little strong. And also sometimes the thread would start in the complete opposite direction I was going and instantly fail. And lastly, whenever I pressed play again, the sound settings would reset each time so I had to go back and change them. OTHER THAN THAT THIS GAME WAS SO AMAZING!! Seriously everything from the graphics, to the music, to the particles and effects were so over the top wonderful you should be proud of this. I am definitely coming back to play more!!!

Thank you for the super kind words 🥺🥺 and you are completely right, lack of a clear tutorial probably hurt the game way too much. I'm happy you were able to enjoy it nevertheless!

I really had good fun with your entry as well, it was a really good concept and with some tweaking has real potential I think!

super cool take on the theme with the Big Bang being "the storm", and addicting gameplay! I also like the aesthetic on the whole general aesthetic of the game. But i found the whole threads thing being confusing, since I'm not sure if I'm able to control them myself of if they go in completely random directions

Developer(+1)

Hi! Thank you for the feedback and trying the game out.

The threads are somewhat random, they always start expanding towards the direction AWAY from the middle. It would have been way better to let them follow the direction of the player movement at first but I found that my algorithm for generating them got really alow that way. In the end I worked out my own hybrid between different spline math functions which could have solved thus but never had the time to implement it, would have made the game a lot more intuitive for sure!

Excellent style, the graphics are minimal but come together to make a really cohesive visual display. The audio is good too, good sound effects and the backing track is pretty good. The core mechanic is unique, when you do manage to pull of a quick maneuver where you switch focus to grab a green dot and then switch back to grab another it's really satisfying. The threads were just really frustrating to me though, maybe my mouse sensitivity is too high but it was both challenging to accomplish and overly punishing when you failed, which made me not even want to go for them because the risk/reward wasn't there. I ended up winning when I completely ignored them, which I felt bad for because the threads felt like the central mechanic I should be engaging with, but I did want to get a win. Also, I'd really have liked to have seen some kind of 3, 2, 1, GO when you start a new game. Since the particles go for the mouse immediately, and your mouse is hovering over the new game button, they start moving towards your mouse and the black hole is right in the path so after being frustrated with missing a thread, I'd retry and immediately lose a ton of stability from colliding with the black hole.

Sorry, lots of feedback there, but it was a genuinely interesting submission and I wanted to wrap my head around it, and glad I stuck with it for longer. Great work!

Developer

Please don't apologise, I genuinely appreciate all the feedback and especially when its constructive like yours.

You are definitely right, the threads were meant to be the core mechanic and I failed horribly at balancing them both from a mechanical and a gameplay perspective.

I think I learned that having a new person play test the game every time is probably the best, the people that helped me out and myself were so used to the threads that it was really easy which causes me to bump up the difficulty. Large mistake, points noted.

Nevertheless I am happy that you managed to enjoy parts of it, I see I haven't had the pleasure of playing your submission yet and I'll make sure to do so later today when I get the chance <3

pretty unique game. It took a lil while to get used to using a trackpad but I thought it was a fun gameplay mechanic and theme. great job

Developer(+1)

Thank you for trying! Can't even imagine the patience it took to play it with a trackpad my god haha

This is a unique and challenging game. Your take on the theme is also unique as well, making this the -I think- most innovative game on this jam. The gameplay itself makes me feel like I have two braincells, which is twice the amount I normally have!

Seriously though, almost every part of this is really well done. The exception, of course is the tutorial. Which I've also had to skip making. Who wastes (!) time on the tutorial when you can polish your game, right? :D My only real problem would be of course, the white particles. It took me so long to figure them out. Turns out: you just have to be precise while following them! And oh man, successfully completing one feels amazing.

Easily one of my favourites. Kudos!

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

Thank you so much for the kind words and good feedback, I really apricate you taking the time.  The tutorial DEFO needs more work and I DEFINITELY didn't make it at 5AM as the very last thing before submitting the game o.o

You also seem like a great person in general looking at the feedback you give to people and the way you interest with the community, just thought I would mention I really appreciate your vibe :)

Submitted (1 edit) (+1)

No problem, you (and your game) deserve it. I'm kinda new to creating games, so I hope I can stick around. I like this community a lot!
Good luck on the jam!

Submitted(+1)

Its a good game but its so difficult, you could put diffirent difficulties :D

Submitted(+1)

Cool concept. I just kept focusing on eating green orbs. Didn't really worry about the mirrored portion of the character. Great job!

Submitted(+1)

Really great concept and challanging! really solid game!

Developer

Thanks for playing and steaming :)

This is a really relaxing yet tough game.  The music felt really fitting with how it ramps up, and there's a lot of polish in this game.  I really like the effort put into the tutorial.  Really creative take on the theme as well!

I think one thing that might make this game a little better is making it more obvious during gameplay which particle is following the mouse.  I had a couple points where I moved the mouse fast and got it mixed up.

Developer

Heya! Thank you for playing and I'm really happy somebody experienced the game how I hope they would.

You are completely right on the readibility, could have been way better!

Im checking yours out as soon as I can :)

Submitted(+1)

Damn this game is super unique, never seen anything like this before. Was pretty tough to beat too but I managed after a while. The particle effects and graphicals in general were also really on point. I loved the explosion at the end. I had a lot of fun!

Developer(+1)

Thank you 🥺 that's such sweet feedback I really appreciate it.

Submitted(+1)

Wow, I have never seen a game like this!

Submitted(+1)

This was a nice unique idea. A though game to beat, but I had fun. :-)

Developer

Thank you for playing and happy to hear you were up for the challenge :)

Really hard but really satisfying when you get good at it
