This is example how game can be fun and simple at same time. Also, theme implementation, simple but spot on! I told myself, just to beat my current high score of 27, and I am done with this game. Half hour later, I couldn't do it. I tried everything, be in corner, in middle, moving constantly, moving just when needed. Nothing worked for me (have to say I played on Android, maybe it's easier on PC). Increasing difficulty is implemented very nicely, everyone can play at beginning, but soon it starts to get really hard. Great job, and keep pushing!

Developer

yes it's very easier in pc because of the stupid control in android version

This is so silly and I love it for that, great job!

10/10 IGN

But really, one problem that I have is that the player can't go up or down when he either goes too much on the top or the bottom of the screen

Developer

how about the theme Fitting?

Submitted (1 edit)

Literally 5/5 stars lol

Hope you also rate mine :)

Developer

LITERALLY thanks bro

This game is super repetitive and gets stale very quickly.

Also, it's not even calm before the storm. Most of the gameplay happens DURING the storm.

Developer

didn't you see the large word that says "calm" in the beginning of the game?

Submitted

Yeah but there's no gameplay during the calm part (besides moving around, but you can do that during the storm too). There's too much emphasis on the storm part of the game

Developer

brah

I think this the best fitting to the theme in the jam

Nice job completely ignoring what I wrote in my previous reply.

P.S. Even if your game perfectly fit the theme (which it doesn't), it wouldn't change the fact that every other aspect of the game (especially the gameplay) is not good, to put it lightly. (Read what I wrote in my original comment for my reasons why.)

I had so much fun! Congratulations, it’s a really fun and charming game!

Submitted

It's literally a good concept.

Very funny meta take on the theme! It would be neat if each level the storm comes from different directions. Overall, well done for doing this right at the end of the jam!

wow, its literally calm before the storm 🥵😍🔥🙏🤗🤩

very cool i liked that lmao

Submitted

Simple concept, decent execution, good adaption of the theme. Nice job!

Very funny interpretation of the theme. Simple and fun gameplay and cool little character dude. Great work! Congrats and good luck!

Submitted

This is the best interpretation of a game jam theme I`ve ever seen.

Submitted

it's very frenetic, but maybe that's the style.

you can go down and get stuck! and a sans-serif font and some background could help the aesthetics.

i really like the eyes following the movement and it's a very fun quick game

Submitted

i liked how the text comming down has different animations

Developer

you mean different fonts

Submitted

Haha, the way your game fits the theme is really interesting.

Nice vertical scroller. Here are my thoughts:

1) Fixed borders - I can leave the top and become invulnerable.

2) Zoom out - because players have little time to react.

3) Overall, your game isn’t about calm before the storm; it’s about the storm itself ;) But it’s fine.

Developer(+1)

1) I wish they let me fix the borders

2) same thing

3) didn't you see the large word that says "calm" in the beginning of the game?

Player can go out of the map but overoll it is good game.

Submitted

Cool concept but I could get out of the screen and just survive the entire time without doing anything. If you'd have had more time I think this would be way more polished.

Developer(+1)

i made the game in the last 3 days of the jam

But there is walls i dont know how everyone clip out

I tried to do it but i couldn't get out

Submitted

I went into the bottom right corner of the screen and just went right and instantly got out. Hope that helps

Developer

i think that's because i used raycasts

Submitted

It is the calm before the storm. They aint lying.

Submitted
