That's pretty fun! I liked upgrading my little Warden Puffet. The waiting time before and after the battle was unnecessarily long. Weird way to make friends, gotta try this at home.
Very interesting that you can increase your attribute stats; I've rarely seen that in a JAM. It has been a lot of fun! The calm music and then the metal version have been great! Nice art for the landscapes too. Congrats!!!!!!
The concept is really fun! I really enjoyed trying to figure out the best way to combine the stats. I wish the fights would be a bit faster because for me the leveling was the most interesting part. Nonetheless cool game! I enjoyed it!
Really funny & unexpected game. The fighting music surprised me 😂 Gameplay wise, I would make the beginning more harder (you start with 100hp against a 1hp fish for the first 3 rounds). I lasted until round 22 (second krakren was the finishing blow). Good job for the gamejam 👏🎉
I loved the abrupt and absurd change that the game takes, I laughed a lot the first time. The music sets the mood of the game too well 🤣
Fun game, for a moment I thought I would actually be making fish friends. I think the scaling should ramp up (give increasing number of skill points after each fight) so players' fish can become extremely broken, and the fish fight transition can be made shorter.
Fun fish fight game! With lot more polish in the art it would be an even better looking game and even more fun.
I stacked on attack a lot haha cause they didn't heal when the battle is ended in 1 turn xD.
Made it to round 12 before I stopped, fun game, I like the fish fight auto battler premise it was fun to progress and level up my fish. One critique would be to add some visual cues to match the upgraded stats, for example if the player upgrades their attack speed to a certain level maybe their player sprite is shown having an extra fin on top now. Balancing could use a bit of tweaking too as some fights are wayy too easy but the concept is really solid. The tranquil nature vs fight for survival aspect of fishing is a really neat application of the theme. Good job!
Gobble lost his Kraken fight :(
Would be cool if you could speed up fights, some of them felt a bit slow. May just be me whos a bit impatient tho :)
Jimbly the Fish made many friends today. 22 different fish, in fact!
...except you, Shield Fish. You know what you did.
This game was a lot of silly fun. Would definitely check out more from you all. The health regen didn't really seem to work in super short encounters, which made it a lil sad to put points into, but I enjoyed this game a lot.
Shield Fish ended up a little over-tuned; everyone hates him. The last time I did a balancing pass, I forgot to adjust his attack speed with the rest, haha.
For the health regen, I actually wanted to rebuild the entire system toward the end. It's increasing the frequency that you heal a fixed amount, and I agree that it's unimpactful with how short matches are most of the time. I wanted the matches to be quick, though, so we tried at one point to tweak it to happen more frequently, and even if we moved it only slightly, it became too OP. I think the plan post-jam will be to make the health regen stat directly impact the amount and not the frequency. I will probably also fire it once during the first frame of the match so you are always getting something out of it.
Thanks for playing and for the feedback; I'm glad you enjoyed it!
