How does your game fit the theme?
SINGULARITY focuses on the moment before the big bang. Two particles have to collide exactly at the right time. Until then, they need to be kept calm and stable. Your goal is to keep the particles as stable (calm) as possible, if you fail, the universe is never created. If you succeed, the particles will collide and cause the big bang (storm)

Did you write all the code and made all the assets from scratch?
Everything was made by me or is under an open license. All credits are present in the game.

Nice game! It's a bit difficult but I like the idea, very original and I think it's fitting the theme!

I enjoyed playing this even though I didn't quite understand if I was doing it right. I read the tutorial but it was hard to still understand if what I was doing was the right thing.
Love the style of the art which is really smooth.

I agree with you because the tutorial never really mentions anything about following a thread and I took a long time to even figure that out in the first place, so I wonder if somehow it should show or briefly explain that rather than just say if it fails or succeeds, it may mean any number of things the way it's shown now in the tutorial.

If you lose a lot in the white bar each time or you see the thread seems to disappear right away, you may still not be doing it correctly. If you gain a lot and it does a sound, then you might be doing it correctly.

I think even doing it is kind of tricky, you may have to almost try to stop moving the mouse at the right time when you start colliding with it, and even that may not work. It may be better to start moving your mouse very slowly towards the path that is being drawn, following the white dots as best you can, then keep moving it pretty slowly after that until you get to the end and you see and hear it confirm that you did it right.

It's kind of hard to explain, and even if I won once, it might actually be hard for me to do it consistently and win again.

The how to play section certainly needed way more love and I should have started earlier with it. Thank you for the kind words still and apologies for the frustration.

Maybe add a note on how to successfully do a thread on the game page, this way anyone else will have a better chance. I see you have a comment on there already but it doesn't mention following the thread.

Also, its your first game and its pretty cool, it functions and is captivating that I want to figure it out. Well done :) No need to apologise.

Developer

Great point, I updated the game page to put some clarification all the way on top. Thanks!

For me I didn't really figure out until a while of trying it that touching a thread means you should be very precise after that with how you move your mouse to follow the thread. In the tutorial it just says if it succeeds or fails, and it could be misleading and look like it's just random or something, it doesn't say what fail or succeed means or what the thread does, for a while I thought it was supposed to do any number of things. Even when I figured it out it was still pretty hard because often it still wouldn't work.

Sometimes I think it's a one off bug but I think it's actually because sometimes I must be a bit off and it requires it to be pretty precise.

Eventually, lowering the dpi settings of my mouse a little bit (but not too low or it would be worse), as well as trying to move the mouse in a certain way to make it more likely I wouldn't fail on any thread, worked well enough that I could win one round.

I actually really liked this game a lot, it's very unique looking and feeling, and was a one of a kind experience for me. Thanks for making this game, it's really cool!

Thank you for the feedback, I fully agree and understand the frustration. Might come back to it after the rating period to just add a tiny bit more polish and a clear / real tutorial together with some difficulty tuning. Still really glad that you managed to somewhat enjoy it, thank you for giving it the time!

I will make sure to check out yours

The concept for this game is interesting but I am color blind and had a very hard time distinguishing the green and yellow particles. Different shapes for the different particles could be nice as an option. It was hard to tell if i was doing things correctly or why i was dying, but the overall presentation has an appealing style.

Developer(+1)

Thank you for trying it! I definitely considered making it more accessible but didn't het to it, apologies! Glad to hear you still found it appealing.

The game’s visuals are stunning, with an art style that perfectly complements the tone and atmosphere

Submitted(+1)

The game’s concept and visuals are fantastic, and the challenge is engaging. However, clearer instructions and balancing difficulty could enhance the experience. Great job overall!

I really enjoyed the unique take on the theme! I studied physics so this was a throwback hahah. Very hard btw, but very polish! I like the transition from the start menu to the game, very smooth. Some issues I had: I haven't figured out if a collision with a white particle is a good thing or not, even after reading the instructions.  Is it a good thing to collide with them in general?  Initially I collided with them and I lost my stability very quickly so then I stopped and my progress was better.  Very nice game!

Developer (1 edit)

Hi! Thank you for trying. The idea is indeed that you have to collide with them and then follow the thread that is drawn until the end, if you fail you lose stability, if you succeed you gain a lot. But the difficulty is certainly off and you can basically win if you just focus a lot on the green particles and maybe do a thread from time to time. Its very high risk high reward :) Let me know if you try again and if it works for you!!

Getting to your game ASAP

Submitted(+1)

Oh I see!! Yeah gathering the green particles are a way easier approach. I tried it again, and is very hard to follow the thread, you have to be very fast. But I like that you can still beat the game without them, so that ppl like me can do it :)

Developer

Haha thats the positive part I guess. Thank you so much for trying again, can't wait to try your game out!

Submitted (3 edits) (+1)

Can you really win by just doing that? I tried it and it didn't work for me, your mirror might also collide with yellow particles or worse, even a thread that fails right away. It looks like it may be better to use the threads. If it's possible to win with just collecting the green ones it's good you were able to do it.

I didn't look at this comments section, somehow I figured out the thing with the thread on my own, but it took me a while to figure out, and a while to get good enough at it to eventualy win a round, I wonder if it should be explained or shown somehow just a little bit in the tutorial a bit more than it is now.

It is a cool, I like it, visuals are good, sound design is nice but for me it is pretty hard. Could try to balance it maybe add difficulty levels or something but it is a cool idea, well done!

Developer

Thank you for playing! Most people mention the difficulty and I will for sure keep that in mind in any future game! I will check yours out asap as I go through the list :)

Man, this game is hard, but it's not its biggest problem, at some point i deccided to forget about the treads and only cought the green particles, it turned out to be fine, but when i had a minute before the end i thought the big band will start here in my room, as it was only 1-5 fps on my laptop... Also i don't think the concept of time really existed before big band. Nevertheless not a bad first game, good job! Wish i could finish it

Developer

Sorry to hear you had performance issues :( seems to be the case on laptops. Definitely a lot of flaws and I appreciate the honest feedback a lot!

I loved the concept of controlling two symmetrical particles it adds depth to the gameplay and makes it even more fun to play! Cool game!! <3

Developer(+1)

Thank you for playing! I already saw your entry in my thread and will make sure to try it out as soon as I get through the list <3

Submitted(+1)

Love the graphics one thing i might mention is that it took me a while to realize how it worked even with the tutorial , sick game though

 would you mind rating mine?

Developer(+1)

Hey! Thank you for playing, just played and rated yours. Great job!

I tried a lot but couldn't solve how to make the thread collision succesful :D

Developer(+1)

Sorry to hear! One tip I can give if you want to try one more time is to go into the white particles from the middle (so directly into them). Most of the time they will expand straight for a bit and you have a bit of time to adjust. Also keeping the mouse close to the thread helps a lot!

Thank you for trying nevertheless!

Thanks I still have the file, I definitely would like to ty again later.

Great Idea! :O Tricky with the mirrored one :)

Submitted(+1)

I'm confused why I keep losing stability, even when I'm not colliding with anything or sprinting.

Developer

Hi! Thank you for trying and sorry for the confusion.

When the white particles reach the middle, you lose stability. You have to hit them which will then expand them into a "thread", you need to follow that thread to gain stability. If you don't reach the end of the thread, you lose a large chunk though! This should be noted in the instructions but I should have definitely made it clearer. Hope you can give it another try!

Submitted(+1)

I love your game design, inspire me to try this art style next time. The game mechanism is unique too, I got confused at first controlling the particle but I got it after that. Keep it up man !

I actually managed to get it quite stable just before release but yes, there can be some slight performance issues. Sad to hear it was fully unplayable for you :( sorry
