It's really fun! The process of calculating the price of the item and giving the change is natural. I can intentionally give a little bit of money to one guest... It's a game with freedom. It's a good game

This is a very cute and fun game. The game mechanics are well developed. I like that each customer has a different personality and that everyone reacts when I make a mistake. Even this is expressed in different ways. My favorite is the Fred Jones / Johnny Bravo character who pays with drawn money but demands a gift coupon.
Great game!
Pretty unique retailer simulator! Realized how skill issued I am at basic, real-life math (I tried playing without the change counter). The crayon characters surprisingly mesh well with the pixel art (probably because both styles look decent). A lot of attention to detail went into SFX too; it adds to the experience.
Only issue is that there's nothing that tells the player that the 1 and 2 cent coins are actually 1 and 2 Euro coins (I'm American).
Thank you! I found a good SFX library for once and crunched the last night to get them in the game xD.
You have a point, the euro coins could have been explained at some point. I think like from the position in the cash register and noone paying odd amounts of <10cts it's kinda clear (at least noone else complained yet apart from you and I doubt they are all European xD). Might add somethings in there.
This game is eerily similar to my gmtk game, except it is an actualized version of what I wanted to do. Insanely good work!
Nice job! From the screenshots, I wasn't sure what to expect, but it's the mechanics and feel are super polished. The jokes were almost too on-point, haha; I used to work retail in a similar grocery store for a few years. Overall, good work!
Very cool game!! I really like the crayon art style, it's very cute!
I think the days last a touch too long and I had to quit out of the game to get to the next day. Might just be a small glitch.
The different customers were really fun as well as giving away all the shop's money >:)
Awesome entry!!
That's a very cool take on the theme, congrats on the submission! Lot of different characters and "story" going with them, that's very cool ;) The old lady giving all their coins hit the nostalgia hahaha, that was a good one ^^.
I love all the details you've added to this game, excellent game design!
Very impressive, with so many details and various content - the customers, the rules... Great job!
Very interesting game. My favorite parts was honestly the unique customers! I love how much attention to detail you've put into this game!
This game gave me a lot of enjoyment. I first saw it on nomistreams’ stream, and it was very well made. I could clearly see and feel the attention to detail that went into creating the characters and their personalities. I loved how the kid kept plopping all the money onto the tray, the old lady who couldn’t count, the shady guy who either handed over large banknotes or fake money, and the couple who kept buying water. Some characters noticed mistakes and complained, prompting the player to correct them, while others simply missed them. I especially liked the homeless man in patches.
You put so much love into creating this little game, and it really shows. The art, while not amazing, was good enough for a game jam. The game felt polished and engaging, and I managed to finish with over 800 euros by the end of day five—more than double the 400 euro requirement.
My only suggestion, if you could call it a criticism, is that it would have been nice to see some small change management. For example, having a finite amount of coins, where the player could potentially run out of small change, making it necessary to manage resources more carefully. There was music, and although it was repetitive, the game was so engaging that it didn’t become an issue. I also loved how the game kept getting more complex as the days progressed.
Overall, this is a beautifully designed, nearly perfectly executed game. One of the best games of the game jam, if not the best. It’s a great shame that this game has so few votes. Although it’s understandable given that it’s a downloadable game and not a browser game, it’s no less frustrating. I would love to see it expanded, and I’d definitely pay for it on Steam and recommend it to my friends.
Wow, thank you much for the praise and honest feedback, it means a lot to us!
Attention to detail / having unique customers like the grandma etc. was very important to us, I'm glad you liked them as well!
We actually also had the idea about small change resource management, but it got scrapped (mostly due to time constraints). Some version of this now exists as "there is one type of coin missing on day 4 / 5".
I've never bothered to make browser-playable versions of my games, but you might have a point. Maybe I'll start making browser versions in the future.
There will be an update at some point after the jam fixing a few bugs and potentially adding an endless mode, we'll see if we have other idea we want to put in there (and find the time to do so).
Very happy you enjoyed it!
The truth is that it is a very complete game in terms of its mechanics and gameplay. I found it very fun, although perhaps the 400eur limit is a little high for me.
I liked the artistic style, although I do think it could have been polished a little more, as could the music.
But in general it is an excellent job, very fun and promising! :D
Really liked the chaos element in the game.. was able to save myself from the storm xD Loved the small additions to the game like the guy coming up with a fake note and a stranger paying for someone else.. this reminded me of the game Sort the Court :) Kudos!! Mario ref was gg xD
I really like the style this game has going! The clicking of the register needs to be classified as some kind of illicit drug because I CANT STOP CLICKING IT! Really nice job distilling the act of manning a cash register into some distinct and entertaining mechanics, great job!
A very good idea, very entertaining, the daily restrictions were great, my childhood dream came true haha, although I didn't know how to comply with the maximum product registration restriction, great work and achievement.
I would appreciate it if you could take a look at mine.
A nice, chill version of Papers, Please! There was a lot of charm in the writing and the characters.
Loved the changing mechanics, and how you always needed to be vigilant about the rules, deals and coupons. I found out I'd make a terrible cashier because it took me ages to count simple math. xD
As for the main goal, the game is very easy, I had the money by the end of day 4. I would've made the days shorter.
Would've loved to see something happen to the manager at the end, maybe holding on to the cash register or a shelf filled with toilet paper while the storm has destroyed the store building and tries to pull him away, too.
Happy to hear you enjoyed our game and fully played through it!
Yeah the money-goal of 400€ was picked picked rather arbitrary and pretty low, but we did not want to make the goal too hard to reach. With the day length I agree and we might tweak that in a post-jam update, we'll see. More playtesting will show what others think, in my opinion they can be a bit shorter.
About the manager: My initial plan was actually something along those lines, like the store is destroyed and the manager went missing. We left it open to interpretation in this version (mostly because of time constraints, the whole story was like a last day idea xD)
It's unbelievable to be able to complete all this content in 7 days, this game does a great job in every way!
Nice game! I like it. I'm really bad at math in supermarkets, and this game is great practice. It seems like a cool way to improve with this game.
