Came for the car, stayed for the plot. The dialogue was also pretty interactive. Though I wished the driving part of the gameplay was more integrated with the plot itself, and of course more destructible and stuff to knock around is always fun.

How does you game fit the theme?
Accident at Faux Pas is a Visual Novel game where you, a detective, are investigating a car accident that might not have been an accident at all. Keep playing until the end to reveal a twist that fits the theme.
Did you write all the code and made all the assets from scratch?
Besides utility libraries like DOTween, Surge, Ink, all code was written by the team.
The majority of the graphical assets are from asset packs.
Music is 100% original.

Like many games in the jam, we overscoped like mad and had much more planned for the driving parts (like a car chase), but ended up prioritizing the minimum that still implemented the theme (oh lord there was so much more story).
Might we continue, we'll definitely keep the destructibles in mind. Thanks for playing!
Tone was funny, I enjoyed this one a lot. I'm a fan of detective fiction, so that was a big helper too. Pretty mad he didn't give me a sandwich though. Driving was a bit stiff but serviceable. Excellent work!
The city, the animations, the characters, everything looks so good. The story is interesting and its fun that you can drive a car, so its not just the story. Good game, liked it! :D
Pretty impressive animations and natural dialogues (except for obviously funny scenarios and lines). The drifting feels tad bit too slippery with the not-so-fast speed that I was driving at. It would have been nice if I got some more room to play around with the car! The audio fits really well with the game!
I never thought someone will be able to animate the assets in just seven days. And the other thing is that you animated almost everything which is great. I am just confused though about the driving one because I tried to control using WASD but it switches immediately to the dialogue and animations. Still, really great job!
The animations were pretty impressive. It felt almost like a visual novel since almost the whole game was just dialogue with driving sequences almost as loading screens, but it was well put together, and I like the play on words that kinda craft the story to fit the theme. We would appreciate it if you could check out our game as well :)
I love when the biker first showed up how he just kept munching as well as the "ask for a sandwich" option kept popping up, lol! The animations and characters were so good too! Amazing game!
Yeah I'm absolutely smacked into the wall by this one. The sheer amount of content, and the high quality of writing, camera work and building of sets and everything, massive applause to you!
I'd love to see chapter 2 and some voice acting for this one! absolutely awesome. hats off to you!
I did not personally partake in the jam this time around but I still like seeing what people pump out.
This is Top 5, if not winner material, hands down.
The graphics are great, the jazz is amazing (and sufficiently smooth! Your audio person needs a raise). The game, though admittedly short, is still extremely engaging. Also props to whoever thought of and implemented the car sequence (they also deserve a raise)! Every game I've played where driving is not a focal point has the most agonizing controls for cars. Your game pulls them off so smoothly that it's actually fun to nyoom around the city.
The game isn't perfect, of course. There's some wonky animations in places, some lighting issues, a very poorly paced comic relief character, and that one supernatural event where driving makes the trashcans in the entire city fall over all at once. Mostly just minor issues, really. Except for that scene where the woman's face is an endless black void
That doesn't take away from how incredibly well this game was executed, especially in such a short amount of time.
I'm a very hard-to-please critic (as anyone who's known me for a while is probably aware of), but you guys have earned the Seal of Approval™. Bravo!
Wow, just wow! Thank you for that awesome review! I'm the car guy so I'll gladly send this piece of text to my boss :D
The feedback is great. We had problems baking lights, especially interior scenes, and the WebGL build seems to make everything worse. No excuses, there's tons of polish to be done all around.
As for the trash cans, can we just say it's really windy because the city is in the middle of nowhere? :D
Cheers mate!
It's amazing how much content you were able to put in here, and that the driving part was able to run in-browser. The car controls are pretty smooth to use, though the driving felt a little disconnected from the rest of the game to me (but it does give a nice rest between dialogue) the music is really excellent and the camera work is cool too in all the cutscenes.
