This game is awesome! Of course, I adore sudoku. Overall, this game has fantastic visuals! The boss is also quite challenging to defeat. Having said that, in many of the battles you either didn't get to that phase or you are trying to be so quick you don't get to enjoy the board's completion. For me, the most enjoyable part of sudoku is finishing the board and seeing it all come together. Having said that, this game is fantastic! Well done! Overall, a fantastic game. Would you be intrested in rating or playing my game? It would really help me out, but dont worry if you dont want to, its completely up to you :)
Pretty cool game, great job!
Wow! That’s such a cool idea and execution. I love solving sudoku, but with the fighting it was even better. Yep, it still stressed me a lot when I was losing numbers! Art is beautiful. And all the items are awesome. I enjoyed it very much!
Sudoku is a big favorite of mine, so automatically love this. Feels very much like one of those 2000s flash games that I could play for hours and hours and hours. -Dustin
Sudoku has been an underrated game. They think it's just a simple fill in the blank with numbers and just solve it. But this game used that idea and turned everyone's thinking upside down. It's a really neat and cool game. The graphics are cute and the music is great. The speed and the leaderboard system feels like the game is very polished. I'm impressed that you can make it in under a week.
No matter how good the game is, there's always something wrong with it. There are slight bug issues where the player can't modify their equipment after beating the boss, and that caused the equipment to disappear from the inventory. Also, I feel like the sudoku could be improved as I saw one empty cell in a column where I know it should be 8 in there, but there's already an 8 in that row. I'm not sure if that's me or the game, but you could improve it if you can.
Overall, I think this is a well polished and great game. I'm hoping you would improve your game and turn it into a real indie game. I'm looking forward to it. Also, if you have the time, please play my submission as well.
This is such a cool idea. Never thought a sudoku FTL-like could work so well. The UI is really clean and satisfying. I love the sounds except for the music which does get a little repetitive and droning. I was doing really good until I ran into a yeti who I think has like recharging shields? My sudoku skills weren’t good enough to outpace his recharge with the weapons I have. I’m about to do another playthrough now and hope I get a big more lucky. Awesome game, hope you sell this. My game is linked below if you want to check it out.
Never thought I would be complementing the artwork of a sudoku game, but it's great! I love that all the gear shows up on the character. Kudos!
apart from the fact that i am absolutely horrendously atrocious at playing sudoku, well done! interesting concept
Great idea, real Peglin vibes.
I think there may be a bug with two handed weapons, where single handed weapons will auto-equip. That or some weapons can't be re-equipped when removed. It also seems like illegal placements can pop up from time to time, perhaps when cells have been auto-filled or auto-cleared?
Overall, this is a really fun game.
Yeah, haven't played Peglin but I do know enough about it to see why it's getting compared.
There are no two handed weapons at all, everything is one handed but I guess you did find some weird issue with re-equipping weapons (or probably any gear).
Now that you mention the auto-fills in this scenario, it is indeed quite possible that they are the culprit. This has been reported couple of times now and I just thought that it might be users just filling wrong (as it does allow filling wrong as long as anything anything filled isn't straight up illegal). The original puzzle I'm quite sure is solvable as it's generated by fully filling the board and then removing numbers from it hence, always resulting in a solvable one (though it might have multiple solutions). There might easily be something wrong with auto fills. Clears on the other hand not so much as they just open up the puzzle more.
Thanks for playing and the feedback! ❤️
Damn I'm so bad at Sudoku! xD
And having to do them fast is even worse, haha
But I still had some fun, liked the Slay-the-Spire-like map progression.
The art is simple but pretty, the music is catchy albeit a little repetitive :D
Overall, good job! :D
As a sudoku lover I loved it, The game is polished and well made, iIonly had a problem when the character died, but the game is very well made. congrats!
As someone who likes to do Sudoku puzzles from time to time, this really turned things on their head for me. I'm used to taking my time and spending a good 10 minutes or so solving a puzzle depending on the difficulty, but here all of that goes out the window and you've just got to frantically find the easiest solutions you can as quickly as you can... it's like Sudoku mashed with Warioware! It's a completely different experience than what I was expecting but I also like a good fast paced game so it definitely works. As others have said, the production value is clearly top notch especially considering the time constraints of a game jam.
Good to hear that even a sudoku fan enjoyed the spin on them I decided to make. Wouldn't be much point in the game if it was just like normal sudoku puzzles. The further you go in the game, the further it actually gets from filling "normal" sudokus.
And I'm more accustomed to 48 hour jams so a full week isn't that much of a constraint, feels like eternity. 😅
Wow, amazing job completing this game! Loved the feedback 'juice' and style. My second fight was against an Orc and all my hits missed, so I think there might be a balance issue.
Well, I guess that is possible but quite unlikely. Orcs naturally spawn in levels 4/5 and their base defense is 3. Meaning that if you hit em with a 9, they'll still take 6. They do get 2 skills which can increase the defense by 5+5 in worst case scenario (2 skills in 26 doing so, meaning ~7% chance per skill pick). So technically you can face one with defense of 13 but at that level you already _should_ have some (of course luck still depends here too) gear to boost your stats etc.
But if it was a question mark node from the map, those can be anything, even bosses...
Very Cool Game, Hit Everything Just Perfect ;P
WOW! Very impressive that this was made in just 1 week, I don't think I can make something like this even without a time limit haha. Very nice idea and extremely polished with amazing graphics, sounds, and gameplay. Amazing!
Excellent game. It feels really polished, well done ! The fact that you made this game in a week and all the assets from scratch is very impressive!
I love this game! Granted I love sudoku itself. Overall this is a great looking game! The boss is extremely hard to beat too. I will say however, the most satisfying part of sudoku for me is finishing the board and seeing it all come together, and in many of the fights you either didn't get to that part or you are trying to be so quick you don't get to enjoy the completion of the board. That being said, this is an amazing game! Good work!
Thanks! ❤️ There are four bosses in total and some of them are easier than others. Yeah true, filling the board is something that very rarely happens in this game after first few fights.
This is a really solid game. I love how well you implemented sudoku into a roguelike and how the attacks affect the board.
Interesting spin on Sudoku puzzles as a combat mechanic
