That  was nostalgic. I think game would greatly improve if board had more elements.  One of the reasons people like these games are that a lot of things are going on at the same time.  Also camera would be better if it was stationary or moving softer.

I love pinball! This was pretty fun, and I thought the leaderboard was a cool addition for a jam game. But I'll be honest, the theme felt a little forced. Camera was always steady, and I like that this is a somewhat larger pinball (machine?)  UI and art assets could be a more polished, but I like the sound choice. Nice entry! :)

We both made pinball games, nice! Solid gameplay. I had great fun. good job!

I'm amazed that you got pinball to fit the theme! The game is fun and I love the pixelated textures applied to 3D objects, the Egyptian theme is also creative, pinball games always have some pretty wild theming. GG!

Interesting... I also had idea of making pinball game at start but dropped it coz couldn't think of good implementation of theme. Really nice!

I think camera moves too slow sometimes and ball is completely out of screen. Maybe could increase camera move speef or make it dynamic - move faster the more ball is out of focus.

Amazing game! Hard to put down before getting all the gems at least once!

Interesting take on having a smooth camera movement for a pinball game, enjoyable!

Super interesting camera work. Also loved the audio and general vibe of this.

Is it intentional that you can't change the name? I've struggled with this for my own game, because obviously people can abuse it. But it feel so much better when you can put your name on the leaderboard. :D

Developer

Thank you! Yes it is intentional because this time around we did not take the time to implement name checks. Previously we used a different leaderboard solution, this time around we are trying out Unity's new leaderboard api as part of Unity Gaming Services. I find the auto generated usernames pretty funny that they give you! You are correct, though, I need to see if something exists as part of UGS for profanity filtering, or just role my own, so I can implement custom names next time!

This is an amazing game! A couple of things I would recommend are probably to make the ball hitting physics more based on the ball's velocity against where it hit, so if the ball was perpendicular to the paddle it would gain a lot more speed from the hit than if the ball just barely glanced it. This would probably only be good if the ball was going faster than some value, because then when the ball is rolling down to get hit slowly it would not hit very hard, but on the upper paddles when the ball got hit on the side it went flying to the side instead of only adding a marginal boost. The other thing is to add an animation when the ball gets hit with the straight bumpers, but at this point, I am just nit-picking. This was a great game and overall very fun to play. Great job.

I always loved playing pinball since I was a kid and this one actually handles pretty well. The inner loop was very well doable and gave a very satisfying sjwung of sounds/points when achieved.
Some music would add a lot to the atmosphere and being able to bump the table and influence the ball was something I was missing, now when a ball is heading for doom there is nothing you can do.

Had a good run right off the bat managing to collect all gems once and racking up 13k points for 3rd on the leaderboard. Tried to go for 1st couple of times but never cracked 10k after that.

Great job !

A real throwback! I remember playing it on Windows 98 when I was a child :D really enjoyed the twist you added!

It's very fun and its sounds are very comfortable!

Nice job, I liked how it used the jam theme by changing the size of the ball.

Nice, don't think I've ever seen a pinball game in a Jam before, really brings me back to those Space Cadet games. I had fun! Also dug the shifting sands soundtrack, nice!

Developer (1 edit)

Space cadet was actually one of the reasons pinball was originally pitched in our brainstorming session! Definitely a throwback game for us.

Like the pinball - it looks like such a immense board at first, but the ball sees a lot of action. The camera movement focusing on the ball is a little disorienting, but a minor point. Same about the shrinking ball, I was less clear what the function of it was. Great work!

Love pinballs! Nice job!

I always love a good game of pinball, so the game already has a big plus with me. However, I wish more was done with the ball shrinking mechanic. I was paying it thinking about how it would be cool if there were areas on the board only smaller balls could fit or something of that nature so that there was more depth given to the mechanic.

Overall though, I had fun, keep it up devs!

Developer(+1)

Totally agree! That was our original plan but none of us had the time this month unfortunately so we kept it simple, but we are happy we got something out!
