Really solid little kingdom building game. The gameplay is very simple but the unique setting and art helps make it fun to explore. Unique take on the theme too.

The first thing I noticed was the art. It's great. But Being honest I didn't enjoyed the gameplay. Probably not my kind of game . Recently I have been playing Throne Fall I am enjoying it a lot and when I looked the screenshots I thought it was going to be some what similar but on small scale. Anyway hats- off to your work in this game.

Thanks for the feedback!

I never played Throne Fall but back when I saw some clips, it seemed pretty fun. The original idea for this game was to have these events, the dilemmas, as modifiers for the geckos' factions (like Europa Universalis' event cards). They would be the core of the gameplay, but not the only mechanic.

We planned on having resources, city building, city defense, etc, which would all complement the narrative side of the dilemmas, but, in retrospect, that was very unrealistic for a 30 day project.

Thank you! Unfortunately our team doesn't have anybody in the arts/creative area, so AI helps us a lot.

Smart utilization of AI to fit that much content in the game jam, good job! As for the gameplay, I am new to decision based games and it wasnt immediately clear to me how much in control I was. In case you want to address players that are new to the genre you might keep that in mind, but overall, well done:)

Developer

Yeah I agree, thanks!

This is a neat spin on the Sort the Court idea, but it really brings more life into the world around it. A really good fit for the theme of the gamejam too!

Developer

Thanks! Didn't know about that game, we took some inspiration from a similar mobile game, Reigns.

Submitted(+1)

Ah, it looks like Reigns predates it by about a year. I learned something today :)

Regardless, I like what you’ve done with it and how it feels like a more complete world.

I made it to day 8. Neat concept, lore and style. I do wish there was some clear way to check my standing with the different factions. Great work!

Thanks!

It is very clear that a ton of love went into this game. Your lore is fantastic and it is incredibly fun to watch the little lizards go about their business. The voice reading of the moral decisions was also very nice. I appreciated having the lines read aloud.

I think this game could benefit from a bit more UI to indicate what's going on with the factions. As another suggestion, making the decisions something you have to click to open could be cool because it is very pleasant watching the villagers go about their work and sometimes the events disrupted this. Overall, great work! I could see this being developed further.

Developer

Thanks!
Yeah that looks like a nice idea, maybe having a courier gecko or something like that.

You can never have too many geckos, haha.

Really cool ambience and lore, inmersive gameplay and interesting moral decisions. the leaderboards is a nice touch too, maes you want to play again to beat records. Great game!

Developer

Thank you!

I love the art style and it's enjoyable watching geckos going around doing things.

But I think there is something wrong with the event system. I got the same event 5 or 6 times in a row (new faith vs stable economy) and I didn't get any other events at all. The ending is hilarious though.

Good job with the art!

Great job. I liked how the city grows according to the player's choices.

I liked the way it visualize player's actions, especially endings. It's interesting to see this AI implementations. That AI voice was kinda annoying, I wish there was a turn off button.

Developer

Thanks for playing!

Well I didn't last long as a leader. They ran me out of town on day 4.

Developer

The geckos are very demanding

Pretty interesting game! I laughed out loud when the economic faction all leaped off a cliff after my "neglect". (I was sacrificing the environment so much for the economy before then, was funny to see them get pissed so quickly haha). Anyways, really cool ideas and use of the theme. One of the most unique games I've played in a while!

Developer

Thanks! Glad you liked seeing the blue geckos dying.

Military got mad at me and killed everyone lol. The AI art looks good. Basically just watch and chose between 2 options every once in a while. Kinda cool!

Thanks for playing!

My first playthrough I tried to make a utopian city, not understanding the balance concept, and quickly died for my hubris. This has taught me a lesson I will apply to the real world. (Not really, but I had fun, and tried at least three times.)

I'm usually not a fan of AI art being used in games, but I think a game where you need a new graphic for every every decision is a good excuse for it, and it was used well. I think my favorite part was actually losing though. I liked seeing my financial lizards jump to their doom.

Developer

Thanks for playing!
