A fun take on the classic match-3 genre.
Getting to move the scales more than one place does make it more interesting than a normal match-3 game.
I did break the game (and I don;t know how). I picked up a scale and was considering moving it. I think I dropped it and tried to pick it up quickly again, maybe before the animation was finished? I ended up with a nice hole in my grid, but the game still worked correctly, it was still match-3-ing with whatever scales was in that spot, I just had no idea what it was ;P
Great job !
This game is awesome. I have just two pieces of advice for you. For the rest, I think this is very cleaver and a perfect match with the Game Jam:
- Once you picked a scale in order to move it, if you place it again on the same spot, it will count as a move. Have you considered insetead, to give the player the possibility to make up his mind by moving scales before making the actual move?
- In the way the game is structured now, eve the path through you move the scales will make the difference, because will change the scales moved in the way. This dynamics differentiates the game to most of the titles of the genre and it should be better pointed out. It was not very clear to me at the beginning.
This is a great job, congratulations and thanks for sharing it :)
Just out of curiosity, is there any feature you had to cut due to time or other contraints? I would love to have you contribution in my topic "The Features Cemetery" :)
Thanks for the feedback!
- Yeah the original game this is based on doesn't count moving an orb to the same spot as a move (like picking up an orb and dropping it in the same location immediately without moving any other orbs). We were originally going to have that feature but we just didn't get to it. This could probably be one for your Feature Cemetery :)
- Was hoping the tutorial illustrated this but it seems like based on feedback we probably needed to emphasize this mechanic a bit more, so agree with you on this
One feature I believe we had thought of implementing was some kind of power-up system, which could change the orbs colors and help you string together bigger combos. (Again based on a feature in the original game). Another was having "damage orbs" that you would have to avoid matching as they would hurt you instead of contributing to your attack.
Did not exoect to beat it on the first try. I guess all elements combined outSCLAEd the final boss :)
That being said difficulty seemed fair. While it is luck based I must say letting me move as many stones per turn as I can manage in that little time also adds skill to it.
Nice job! Good to hear that you didn't find it too hard
A really nice and fun game. Good level of challenge, though with a hefty dose of luck. In the end I didn’t find that I focused on the type weaknesses much though as their impact paled in comparison to getting a higher combo and more matches.
Great fit of sound, graphics, and gameplay.
Thanks for playing! Yeah in the end it kind of just becomes get more combos = do more damage overall due to the multipliers regardless of the typing
Really fun game! I almost was able to beat what I think was the air dragon? The one with 125hp. Nicely done!
Thanks for checking it out! I think that might've been the light dragon? Anyways, glad you had fun with it
It is really nice and maybe a bit too hard :D
Thanks for playing! Sorry if you felt it was too difficult - the mechanics definitely might take some getting used to
Nice one and very challenging! Love the Pokémon vibes. I'll keep trying to beat the third dragon!
Keep at it and you'll beat it eventually! Thanks for playing
Very well done. Art was excellent and the gameplay was fun and easy to understand. Also, thanks for introducing me to peritune! The music was so high quality and fit the game very well.

Thanks for playing, and appreciate the positive feedback! And yep, Peritune is awesome!
I loved it! I felt younger, playing pokemon again haha. Congrats
Hey, thanks for checking it out! Happy to hear it was able to evoke memories of pokemon
I ran into a slight issues on one of the levels where I selected a tile during an attack and ended up with a overlapped tile that was not behaving properly. Fun game and I got absolutely destroyed by the sun dragon. below is a picture of the overlapping tile, column five row three. Great work!
Thanks for playing and reporting the issue! Do you happen to remember what you did to cause this? I've been trying to reproduce this issue for a while now but can't seem to get this overlapping bug to pop up. And yeah, the sun dragon can be tricky to beat!
I think it might have been triggered when I double clicked a scale which activated a combo chain.
A classic formula never fails, love the dragons and the pixel art style of the game.
Yup, I agree- I got so distracted playing this game while working on it. Probably just me starting to relapse into my PAD addiction. Glad you liked it and thanks for playing!
Love the pokemony look, gameplay is almost as cool as the flute in the background.
Thanks! Pokemon was a big inspiration for almost all the dragon designs. And yeah I'm glad you liked the music, Peritune really has some bangers on there
Fun to play! The sound that the scales make when moving them around was satisfying.
Thanks! And super glad you appreciated the clicks, I also felt like it made a big difference before v.s after I added those in.
Love puzzles and dragons and this game doesn't disappoint. Art and music were both great and all the "moves" to get the crazy combos were coming back to me by the end. great game.
I wish there was more damage from larger matches and maybe the combo multiplier goes up for chaining matches .
I definitely wish there were more match three games with the dragging component out there instead of just swapping 2 . combos are where its at.
Great work
Always glad to hear from a fellow
recovering addictenjoyer of Puzzle and Dragons! Yep will take another look at the damage formula since another poster had mentioned damage being a bit low.Couldn't agree more with your last point - I wish PAD mechanics were in more games! Once I played PAD I couldn't ever enjoy another match-3 since I felt myself wanting the flexibility of dragging orbs around to make combos.
Thanks so much for playing!
"
recovering addict" hehe YEEEEAAAHVisuals are charming. I wish making larger matches(like match-5) will do more damage than it is.
Thanks! I'm super proud of the art (though I didn't make any of it - that was entirely the other folks I was working with so special thanks to them). Matching 5 should do a bit more damage since the formula is just combo multiplier times number of orbs matched per color? But maybe that could use a buff so thanks for the feedback on that.
Ahhhh as a classic match-3 addict it took me a while to adapt to your tile-moving and make slightly better use of the dragon scales... but I still coudn't become the king!! I wish I could revive from where I died and confront that dragon directly instead of starting all over again!! It's such a great game!
Ah for sure, yeah I definitely can see how it'd be a bit frustrating having to fight everything from the beginning, so might fix that at some point. I think the tile dragging to make combos takes a bit of getting used to, but thanks for the feedback and glad you enjoyed it nonetheless!
Love it so much that I've become the king of dragon already lol.
Nice job! Happy you liked it!
Haven’t played PAD but this game looks great with a strong retro vibe. The unusual Match 3 aspect of where I can drag items around multiple blocks was new and took some getting used to, but after that, it was pretty fun!
Found one UI bug where sometimes if you select a charm and drop it at the same location, it disappears for some reason and newer charms overlap when this happens when dropping down.
Even then it was really fun!! Great job xD
Thanks for checking it out! Also will look into that bug - I thought I fixed it but I guess it's still popping up. Thanks for reporting it!
I agree with the comment below, not a huge fan of tile matching games, but it's fun! great tutorial, very nice art style, great idea to have the differences between elements. nice job, great entry!
Hey thanks for playing! Happy you gave it a shot (as so many others did) despite not being a big tile match fan!
