How does your game meet GBJam's theme?
I tried to make a spooky horror game using GB Studio. You're a babysitter trying to babysit the baby and do chores around the house when a demonic entity breaks into the house in the middle of the night and hunts you, or rather, the baby.

This was a fantastic experience, I was genuinely spooked. Silencing the music was very effective. Great job!

Developer

Thank you very much! :') I'm happy you enjoyed it

Great idea and story. The music gets a bit on the nerves after 1-2 minutes :-) I like the art style and I was certainly scared by the “thing”.

Developer

Thanks for playing!
It was my first time composing music, so I still got a lot to learn.

Honestly, terrifying.

Thank you for playing!

SPOOKY! Perfect timing, it got me doing chores and reading all those creepy descriptions when "it" happened haha. Very (very) good one, 5 out of 5 gb feel to it and I love the way the player casually ranks up until the horror comes lol

Developer(+1)

I'm happy you enjoyed it, thanks for playing! I put a lot of effort in trying to make it feel like a GameBoy game, so I'm happy you feel it.

Surprisingly effective horror!

Horror games about doing chores are the best horror games.

Developer(+1)

Because doing chores are the scariest thing in ordinary daily life, aren't they? ;)

It's really amazing how much you've been able to put into the game, this one is actually spooky! Loved it!
One thing to point out is a very tedious process of confirming your actions. Like, yes, I want to take the f-ing trash! :D
I understand it might be an homage to one of the older horror games (resident evil, silent hill), but it was tedious even then.
Also it's pretty easy to softlock yourself with a baby if you're already carrying something. You really should consider disabling the colliders for interactive objects and the baby.
Overall - a great experience!!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing and thanks even more for the feedback!

Yeah you're right, in hindsight I may have made all the button confirmations too tedious ^-^"
As for the collider disabling, that's a good idea. Thanks for the suggestion.

This was pretty fun, I got the bad ending so it was kinda cut short for me but it was a a good experiance.

I think the gameboy soul is this game's best category. I also somehow duplicated the pacifier and then almost got softlocked but I figured out how to fix it.

Overall a very solid game, very well done.

Developer(+2)

Thanks for playing! I'm glad you enjoyed it. Trying to get a good GameBoy feel was something I worked hard in, so I'm glad it's paying off.

As for the pacifier duplication and softlocking, thanks for letting me know. I know what to work on after the jam :)

Interesting game. Did not expect it to be a scary game like this. Unfortunately the "handbook" in the beginning spoilers the intruder :D

You definitely got some scary vibes going when the music stops and the screen shakes.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing!

I still haven't played it fully, but I have been enjoying it so far!!

To tell the truth, the moment the house trembles, and the music stops I got so scared hahahaha 😂

Good work!!

Developer(+1)

Hehe I'm glad I could spook you >:)
And I'm happy you're enjoying it! :) Thanks for playing!

Pretty spooky idea. I liked it!

Thanks! I'm glad you liked it!

Awesome game, had so much fun! Got the good ending. For quite some time, I kept holding the baby, thinking "drop the baby" option would cause him to die or something!

Nicely executed!

Developer(+1)

Thank you for playing! I'm happy you enjoyed it :)

Great game! Really nailed the spooky vibe and the different mechanics kept the gameplay engaging and fun!

Developer(+1)

Thank you for playing!

Very cool concept, though I think I softlocked myself by placing the baby in front of the right-side bookshelf. I was unable to place the books I was holding because the baby was in the way, and I couldn't find a way to drop the books D:
Definitely got that spooky vibe going on. Nice submission!

Developer(+2)

Aww, curse that baby for blocking your way! Sorry he did that ^-^"

Nonetheless, thank you for playing!
