Looking forward to see this concept fleshed out, this is a very solid starting point. Congrats!

How does your game meet GBJam's theme?
You are in the middle of a Halloween night. You collect candy in order to upgrade your character. You run amidst children. But is everything you see... a child in costume like, probably, you?
- Feature incomplete:
- Lacks the trading mechanism.
- Only fundamental combat.

That was a cool prototype! The art is proficient, and the character design is charming. It was fun beating people up for candy!
It's a little strange that the sound used to test the volume (the Game Boy startup noise) is much louder than the other sounds.
All-in-all, good work! Congratulations on the submission!
Thank you. Funny you mention that. It never crossed my mind. The music file is by itself damped because I want the sfx to come on top, and despite what I had last year, regulate music and sfx separated, the device has only one volume control. So I changed this to control sound altogether but reduced the music file volume to compensate. I will have to check if the sfx files have the same volume as the startup/test sound.
Was fun to hit all the characters for candy. I couldn't collect it though - wasn't sure what I was doing, but was a good start to a game!
Was fun walking around and bonking stuff for candy! Congrats on getting in what you have, can't wait to see where it will be after the jam!
I loved the concept and the fact I can change the colour palette! It still misses some features, but really good work!
Kinda sad that there isn't a real goal yet. I tried all three characters and found the skeleton to be the strongest at beating up everybody xD Such a bully... Visuals are cool and would love to see more in the future!
The art style is cute and works well with the palette. I like the start screen where you can select a palette and other settings. The character selection also surprised me—most game jam developers don't get that far. Unfortunately, there's only so much a one-man team can do in ten days, so some gameplay ideas couldn't be fully realized. Still, you created a small, cute game. Well done!
Interesting game, it does bring me way back to good old days of simpler games. Great job getting something playable that looks done at first glance, I especially liked the volume and contrast idea. The controls were definitely very interesting, if I could make a suggestion, personally I like using WSAD and the numpad as well, but I use numbers 4,5, and 6 if needed, it was hard to keep my hand where I felt I needed it when they were on the others. That being said, it wasn't really a problem so just something to consider. I must have picked the slowest guy on there, but increasing your movement speed over time somehow would definitely be a plus, and would help feel like there's some progression.
I liked the sounds, and the graphics, one thing that did seem strange was the grabbing part, but I don't have any suggestions on how you could alter that. All in all great work for just a one person team, it can be challenging, but very rewarding. Keep up the great work!
Thank you. You must have got the zombie. It is displaying the stats in the selection screen, yes this is the slowest. That was not a grab... It is the attack, just punches... There should have been an upgrade to increase the speed, "zombie rollers", but I didn't make it on time. There are also alternative controls but I will consider what you said.
