I can't believe I I didn't come across this game during the submission period, but I I just played the whole game until the end and WOW! This is fantastic in every way. Super polished with no bugs, a really fun and unique game mechanic (it took me a minute to figure out the best way to play wasn't to think of the turn as your method of movement so much as to envision what tangential "circle" on the map you wanted to proceed with), the art, sound design and awesome creepy atmosphere were all top notch. I loved that the game had an intro, boss and ending, as well. Just like last year, you never make any compromises with delivering the full experience. Incredible and only sorry I only found out about it after the submission period was already over 😭
I just loved your game : I'm amazed that you were able to achieve all of this within the 9 days of the jam. Everything is well polished, you even had the time to work on intro and ending cutscenes. The mechanic for the movement works well and is quite original. The game is not too hard nor too long which is (for me) perfect for a jam game, where there are so many games to discover and so little time to test them. And finally : I loved the efforts you put on the game page : this is something that's often overlooked I think, but here, you definitively didn't. Congrats !
That's a unique and fun mechanic ! :o
well made !
Very innovative and unique mechanics, Amazing art style, very well done sounds. Also merged with a story. Amazing piece of art! I am hugely insprired and impressed!
Quite impressive game tbh,
I loveed the nostalgic feel too it graphics and music and all...
The ending was lovely <3
This is a love letter to the Famicom (Nes)... I enjoy it a lot. Give me that sentiment when you enjoy something but it's too short.
Woah, that was awesome.
This game was grea! I enjoyed it a lot.
When the bat came out crying I had some second thoughts, but then the gameplay started and it was fun from beginning to end. I would play more if there was more.
This is a great game and might actually get a very good place in the ranking !
GG !
lovely!
I love what you've done with this! I'm a big fan of pixel art and everything in this game was so pretty. The boss fight at the end was super awesome. One of my favorite games I've played so far!
Very unique movement mechanic. It took me a good amount of time to really get hold of the movement but thats just a sign of it originality. The simple retro-aesthetics are also very fitting.
Really great and original game!
The only part I'm doubting on is the connexion with the theme "unstable". Everything else is good!
Very unique jump system.
I am surprised.
And I love GameBoy atmosphere.
I see the potential to make a full game out of it. Really polished, I love the art and the animations. Interesting mechanics, I had some problems when you have to do longer flights, it doesn't always take the imput when you switch from A to D, but maybe it's just me. Great work!
This could be a full fledged game on steam! It is so well polished, that I could already see this as a commercial game.
The art, sound and music and asthetic all work nicely together ^^
Then gameplay is fun, absolutely unique and engaging.
The only thing I can say here is: Amazing job!
i really liked the art style, the flying mechanic
and the boss at the end - amazing!
this game has great potential!
Great game! I like the unique control scheme and the amazing art style and color palate. I ran into some confusion while playing but overall I am a really big fan of this! I wasn't sure what the point of the checkpoints was since in most cases you just fall when you run into the wall. During the boss, I wasn't sure if a lose state was possible since I don't see any health bar for the character. It also seems like there is a cool down on how fast you can change direction which I would have liked a visual indicator for. Overall love the game andd I would totally play a full release. Keep it up!
The use of fixed flight to control the player mid-air is ingenious. Like the other players who played this game before me, it was hard learning how the game worked at first. But once I found out how the controls worked, I was able to get to the end and beat the boss. I also love the Gameboy-like graphics and the sfx. Excellent game and jam submission!
What a blast from the Nintendo past. Playing this brought back so many memories from my childhood. From the limited pixel color palette of deep purples and reds to the interesting gameplay mechanics is one of the most innovative games I’ve seen on this jam. At first the game is hard to get the hang of flying and once you have it nailed down you are truly a bat out of hell. The sound and music is just like most of the Nintendo games back in day. 10/10 is well deserved here. Would love to see more of your work.
Nice take on the theme! I specifically looked for your entry because I knew you wouldn’t let us down. Great gameplay feeling, a bit frustrating, as it should. It reminded me of the moths flying paths. Interesting take on visual art+sound, it felt cohesive. Having a boss was unexpected and a nice addition. Good job, Clark & Joyce!
