I love the way that the music cuts out when you stop. Reminds me of loony tunes when characters begin to sing but get interrupted. This is by far the funniest game I've played from the jam.
The game is super fun, i like the concept, it reminds me a little bit of one of my games (so extra points for that).
What I would suggest is:
- Remove the typos counter, ot at leas hide it until the end: with the counter on, you can just type the same 2 letters, while watching the counter, and when you see pop it up, you press "Backspace" until it returns to 0
- Don't just remove the music when you aren't typing, just lover to 10% or something (Altough, gotta admit, the audio is cool)
- Add some feedback for when the time runs out and add the ability to the player to play again
- Add some story and/or lore INTO the game. How would I have known that I was an orch if I hadn't read the description??
- If you hold the same key, you'd expect to see the same character.... Well, realistically speaking you can't really hold a key in a old typewriter (You whould end up writing ony one inky character if you do so), but ogres don't exist too, so...
And, well, then there's that:
I made a joke about being sponsored by keyboard manufacturers in another comment, so I'm not gonna repeat it.
The game is really hard for me because it takes some time for me to react to appearing typos, and the timer seems to be pretty tight (btw, I corrected all the typos :D). Although, I liked how it discouraged repeatedly pressing one key by making a ton of typos, that's definitely what was needed to force players into pressing different keys, nice touch. Also, I wish there was some kind of game-over screen instead of just hanging.
There's not much to say about graphics other than it's simple and does not distract you.
To sum it up, you did a good job on this one!
Very funny concept, really clever. I think if you include some decision about which keyboard presses you have to use, it could strengten the gameplay, as right now there is no concious choice the player is making in his typing, he is just button bashing as fast as possible until an error pops up. But all in all very fun. I liked the presentation and the music too, great work!!
That was hilarious, I love how you have to keep typing for the music to continue playing, and how frantic is becomes typing as fast as possible and going back correcting errors. It's a simple yet very strong concept, great job on this game!
This was great fun to play, I had an absolute laugh when I realized how to play. No real criticism apart from stuff you're probably aware of already, like being able to read the letter after finishing and the text overflowing the paper sometimes.
The music was a fantastic touch!
I mashed my keyboard a whole lot. My roommate thought I was crazy. No regrets.
You really should of called the game something else. I expected something a lot worse. I really enjoyed the game, and the music was a perfect match.
Nice idea, very good feedback with both audio and visible typing mistakes, it felt very natural to find the correct keyboard smashing rhythm.
Like the idea. The game and the graphics came out quite well. Overall it was a decent game and a good effort.
