Cool concept, it'd be nice if there would be a tutorial, since I couldn't figure out how to dodge the rocks. Great game tho!
I like the concept of driving around in an out of control car, though if you could influence the direction in some minor way, and allow us to blow up rocks, that would make it a bit more fun.
love the explosions! wish they were present when we took out the green mobs though.
Hey ArithMetic!
Neat game. A little disorienting but I guess that's the point :) Does the number of zombies increase over time? I think this game could have some help from some user experience improvements. Maybe some indicators where zombies are coming from? I think that there should be some way of avoiding the rock, some sort of jump or something. Its still challenging but not game breaking.
Keep up the work!
Great game! Keep creating games!
Nice idea I enjoyed playing :) Reminded me of playing Halo when someone else is driving the vehicle and you're shooting haha. I think you shouldn't have unavoidable things like rocks. If you want rocks I'd say make them destructible. You already cover the jam them by not being able to control the vehicle. You don't really need an object that randomly ends your run.
I find funny the concept of not being able to control the trajectory of the car. You can see death comming your way and you can do absolutely nothing to avoid it. I guess this perfectly answer the theme of the jam !
That said, I think this is also frustrating for the player (please let us shoot forward!).
Frustration is not really a felling you want your player to feel, especially in a context of a jam, when we have mountains of other games to rate and quiting to move on at any frustration is reaaaallly easy for any of us.
The game has some issues regarding lisibility that could be an easy fix.
To make it better you should think of changing the color of the enemies so that they don't blend like that in the background. You can also give them a contrasting outilne.
You should think about the camera. Maybe the car shouldn't be in the center of the screen, but closer to its bottom so that the player could see the enemies arrive.
Regarding the design of the game itself, you really removed the player's control. Next time you want to do something like that, maybe try to think about how to give the player the illusion of loosing control without making the game too frustrating.
Good start to your game jam path, definitely some polish to improve on but well done!
I see what you were going for there, I've found a small issue where firing towards the front of the vehicle will blow it up, I would have liked to have been able to fire forward, overall though, nice concept!
I think this is a cool concept but I, like the many other commenters don't like the rocks. There is just no way to avoid dying to them. You also sometimes spawn on top of a rock and it instantly kills you.
It's a little unfair to just randomly crash into rocks. I thought at first that your aim was to shoot in a direction you didn't want to go in order to 'scare' the driver into changing directions or something. Good job on submitting though!
Id love to see some music join the fray, fun game!
cool idea but need some work for the speed and aim :) -Ivory-
This game isn't good :
- There is no reason shooting a rocket would blow your own car, it just creates blind spots that makes killing zombies impossible if your car is rushing toward them.
- Zombies appear very late on screen and are hard to see due to being green on green
- It doesn't really fit the fantasy of being flooded by hordes of zombies
- The randomness makes it incredibly unfair
I like the concept. Great entry!
I think there are a few things that can go a long way in a game like this. Audio, more contrast between the zombies and background, screen shake when firing the gun, and a way for the player to avoid the rocks (maybe make the rock destroy-able, but it takes 2 hits?).
I think the concept is there, just needs a bit more UMPH
A neat idea, but kinda hard, I always felt like I was shooting 2m ahead, and blowing myself up.
I like the idea a lot! Not the best execution but I get the idea
The idea itself is awesome, the execution lacks abit in my opinion, its just too..Random?
you literaly dont have control over it haha
but overall a pretty fun game and great job buddy
The game is fun to play but seems a bit too random overall, like everything I did was undermined by RNG. I think a little more control and a faster explosion time would be nice to make it a bit more playable long term.
I get halo 3 flash-backs! The stones are a little bit to hard to dodge.
Cool game!
It'd be good to have an indicator that shows the offscreen zombies/rocks. As it is, you can't really react in time if the car runs directly into either of them, since you can't shoot in front of your car.
The zombies are a bit hard to see since they're almost the same color as the grass -- a dark outline of some sort would do wonders there.
