I know it's called game jam, but you took that seriously with that funky jamming drum music xD great game, I liked the art style and gameplay!

Developer(+1)

Haha- thanks- good to hear someone else liked the drumming :D

Really great & unique concept! Very well executed with great art style! I managed to finish all 7 levels, but I can imagine it can get complicated very quickly should you decide to expand the game and design more levels. Regardless, excellent work! :)

Developer(+1)

Thanks :)

Yeah- there was a lot of trial and error in the level design; I had set out to make 10 levels, but - you know - 48 hours :P

A fun, well designed puzzle game. The only thing that stood out to me was that sometimes it was hard to place and keep the anchors in place to move another anchor. It probably would be easier if the anchors had more friction and would stay in place better.

Developer

Thanks :)

Yeah- there actually is some friction, but I didn’t have enough time to really iterate the physics to get it more balanced. Someone else suggested the ability to pin an anchor in place, which I think would solve this too.

Ah well.

Really amazing idea and great execution! I've had real fun playing this!

Developer

Thanks :D

This was a fun puzzler.  I got a little frustrated during the second-to-last level because of the sort of inconsistent response where I felt like I was trying to do the "wave-in-the-rope" trick but sort of couldn't most of the time because physics, except when it finally worked :D  But the overall idea was very fun, I'd love to see where you'd go with it especially since you can take the anchors "out of the box" ^_^  (Thought that was fantastic)
Thank you for making this!  Cheers.

Developer(+1)

Thanks :)

Yes - I made a last minute tweak to level six that accidentally made it much harder than intended [regrets]. Glad you made it through it though!

Loved it - simple but very challenging. Great music find (reminded me of ape out)

Developer

Thanks :D Hah- yeah, if I could have made it dynamic like the Ape Out soundtrack, it would have been ace :D

Very creative idea and well executed.  Your game also had a nice complexity progression which I'm sure can be expanded on further. I can definitely see this as a mobile game. Well done!

Developer

Thanks :D

Incredible puzzle game! I could totally see myself regularly playing this on my phone lol My only complaint is the controls/physics are a bit floaty and bouncy. Having the anchors snap to the player's cursor faster  and having more weight/less bounce would make this game even better. Also didn't think the music really fit the pacing of the game that well...almost like the drummers at the wrong gig :)     Aside from those minor frustrations, amazing work with this!

Developer

Thanks - the anchor responsiveness was actually a bit of a hack :$ originally I had them aggressively move to the cursor, but the kept getting through the walls, so I had to tone that down :D

This has got to be my favourite implementation of the 'tethered characters' concept! Presentation and puzzle design were on point, great work! Reminds me of those wooden rope puzzle toys.

Developer

Thanks :D

Very fun game with a great presentation!

A very nice and polished game! I liked the idea and the puzzles you have created a lot. Maybe add something to freeze one ball, while move the other one, because that was a bit frustrating at times. Anyway I really loved the art style and found the music fitting for the game.

Great work!

Developer

Thanks :) A few other people have suggested the ability to pin one of the anchors in place, it’s definitely a good idea I wish I’d thought of :D

Wow, really nice puzzle game. It's intuitive, but yet takes some time to solve s puzzle. Therefore it is really good balanced. Only thing that could be changed is friction of the blue balls. Now I was almost done, but the tha balls fall of or moved and sometimes it feels unfair. But by adding some friction to them it's no more such a problem.

Overall good game.

Edit: I like your visuals too.

Developer

Thanks :)

I agree that the physics could do with some tweaking; it definitely makes it feel a bit more chaotic than indented at the moment.

Really neat idea! Reminds me a lot of those puzzles where you have to figure out how to take it apart without using any force, which isn't really something I've seen in a video game format before! I think it would have helped if the physics were a bit less bouncy, but obviously video game physics can have issues like that and solving it might not be doable within a game jam. Really cool and novel entry!

Developer

Thanks - glad you liked the concept :D

Simple to pick up, but hard to master!

I like how you took a unique direction for the jam theme, and I found the puzzles to be very satisfying to solve! The art style is also unique and very well done!

You could easily expand this game into a full release! Great job on this game!

Developer(+1)

Thanks - glad you had fun with it :)

I'm just happy you made it!

I really like the concept of this game. The mechanics of this game is not that hard to comprehend, but all the level designs are clever and challenging. Well done! I have to point out with a minor issue that the anchors of the chain seem so heavy that it keeps rolling somewhere I don't want them to go to and the chain itself feels a little stiff. But this is not a big issue and I really enjoyed the game a lot! I just wish there could be more levels :)

Developer

Thanks - yeah, there’s definitely some tweaks to be made with the physics :D

so genius! Combines instant feedback and strategy !

The level before the 3-balls level really interesting, at first time, I try to use inertia, not enough! then i found the exit portal, it break these boarder and make me impressed

( meanwhile, I also think it would be also interesting if there were inserted another level here which only use inertia to unlock)

Developer(+1)

Thanks :D

And yeah - that does sound like a fun puzzle type :)

Great puzzle and has a potential for a full build,

This is probably the game that I played that matches the most the theme.

I feel like the chains are maybe a bit too stiff and the balls a bit too light.

Otherwise, I liked the art style, the puzzles are interesting, not too hard, not too easy.

Good game overall, I can imagine this becoming a full game, good job!

Developer

Thanks :)

I agree, the physics could do with a bit of a tweak.

Glad you had fun though :)

The ideas for the puzzles I thought were very clever, and I loved the art style.

That was a small but very good game, which integrates the theme of the jam very well into the gameplay mechanic.

I only have a few things to put out with: the chain sometimes feels a bit too stiff and sometimes the endpoints have rolled somewhere where i didn't want them to be, maybe a point that ties the endpoints tight would have made it better. Second: when the game just started to play a little more with the game mechanics in order to generate more difficult levels, the game was already over. I would have liked to see more levels that deal with your concept even more creatively. But i think it's also a good thing, if i wanted to keep playing. I understand if you haven't had enough time to make more levels. After all we are in a 48 hour game.

Overall i think this is a really amazing game. Great work.

Developer(+1)

Thanks :) ‘there wasn’t enough’ is always good feedback to hear! and yes, that’s a good idea adding a feature that allows you to freeze/pin the balls :)
