epic
But really, fun game. I think the main mechanic of the torch/gun could have been worked better. Most of the time I just walked around with the torch, came found a safe space, switched to the gun and spammed bullets. Maybe having a limited amount of times you could use the torch could help with that.
Other than that, the rest of the gameplay (walking, shooting, the enemies, visuals, sounds) were pretty solid and polished.
Good job!
Neat game. I included it in my GMTK compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look. :)
Thank you so much for including us :)
Neat idea and a fun execution on the theme :) I really liked the raycasted shadows and the general level of polish everything seemed to have!
I'm kind of curious how the game would feel if the zombies chased you when your torch was out and they had line of sight. I noticed I mostly just avoided zombies or spam fired my gun when going around the map. So perhaps adding some pressure might help force the player to make more delicate decisions of what to do.
Very cool idea though, y'all did a great job! I love seeing team games and hope you all keep together making games :)
Great game! I loved the idea. I have two suggestions to make though:
1. I think the player should start with the torch, rather than the gun. I often found myself switching to the torch as soon as the level started anyway. You need to see what's around you after all.
2. It might be a good idea to add some sort of delay time for the gun between the shots. Like, maybe I shouldn't be able to fire faster than 2 bullets per second. I realized the most efficient way to kill enemies was to just spam LMB as fast as I can.
Still, great idea, great presentation and tons of fun to play! Loved it!
Really unique idea. I loved having to switch between my gun and the torch, and that the switching was on cooldown. I really had no issues with this at all, great job on this!
Thank you :)
Very unique concept for fitting the theme, love the presentation and overall a very enjoyable game.
Really nice concept, very creative take on the theme :) Good work!
Cool game! It's like a top down Doom 3, where you have to switch between having your gun out or your torch to see. Works great as a browser game, good job!
Really good concept and feel's super polished! Great work. Also the game page is amazing, how did you get those text boxes to raise up like that?
Thank you so much for playing the game!
I set those text boxes as children in a canvas layer node. Hope that helps :D
Cool idea, but I think it's very easy to play. I think you need to increase the difficulty, and add some interactions with the level.
Amazing game! Loved the music and art, this better get in mark's video
Pretty cool concept, experienced some weird lag spikes when shooting sometimes.
After a few levels it got a bit same-y; I sort of wish there was some additional twist to it. Maybe just some more polish in the game feel, music and visuals could make up that difference – I’m not sure.
Overall, it’s a pretty decent experience and although I’ve seen quite similar concepts before it’s quite well executed.
i like it!.
I really like the idea, but I think the timer between the torch and gun is too long. But still a lot of potential for variations of these existing mechanics (as others have pointed out!)
373 seconds!
Very fun game and it looks/sounds great. I love the classic horror trope of "light or tool, choose one" being used in another setting. With some more enemy types (Maybe an enemy that moves towards you if they are within sight of you in the dark but run away otherwise, or an enemy that runs to a home base when the lights go off). Good job!
Wow, really awesome! This was really very fun to play and any thing "bad" that I say about it is just a missing feature that would make it more fun.
| I would have really loved to have powerups
| not be able to see the walls by shooting
| have a ammo limit over time
Overall great game!
Very enjoyable! Music was superb and the gameplay was simple. I can see variations where there are different pickups that can connect with the player.
From the games of the jams I have played so far the action of switching between the gun and torch has had the best balance of simple and satisfying which gave the game a great game feel!
If anything could be improved in a potential future version might be to add a slight ping or hint where the final enemy is when there is only one left after a bit. Hunting for the last enemy breaks the flow of the game a bit. (And with my luck it is always on the other side of the level. ;) )
This actually comes together surprisingly well for how simple it is! There are a bunch of directions you could take this if one were to expand on it, but the core is already pretty addicting.
thanks alot!
The music fits well with the theme, the gameplay seems polished, I like the concept of having to switch between the torch and the gun. I can see how objectives can be added to this game in the future. The only issue I had was if the player is static and close to the bottom wall the bullet didn't shoot properly and the control of switching between torch and gun seems a bit unresponsive. Above all, this is an excellent polished game!
we know about this a bug a tried to fix it for like 5 hours but it ended up being worse than it was before so we changed it back sorry about the bug but thanks for playing!
