I like the concept, and I think this is one of those games that could work in a much larger scale as well... Especially if you could really add the settlers you mentioned in the description :)
Thanks for playing! the original design included conditions that would cause cities to spawn, but I didn't get to it.
I love this idea. I've always loved world building games so its nice to see one in the jam. Good work!
Cozy map maker. Would be neat to see more tile variety depending on the climate, but I can certainly appreciate what's already available. Most relaxing puzzly game so far.
Yes! I had some ideas for desert and tundra tiles too. Maybe surround one water with desert to make an oases or something.
This is a very cool game, really soothing to play. Its nice to try and work out exactly how to get the points, the same thing doesnt just work each time. I feel more relaxed already
Thanks for playing! If I had more time I would definitely add some visual feedback before placing the tiles instead of after.
SPOILERS--
The scoring is fairly straightforward under the hood and I was hoping the levels would teach it but there isn't enough feedback for it to be intuitive. Each level uses different RNG weights to push the player to draw a certain type of map.
Very chill game, but much harder than it seemed at the begininng. I really enjoyed it although the old school approach to discovering how the game works might be a slight turn off. That being said overall the game is a pretty great concept and prototype. Not sure if You were inspired by some game in particular because I haven't seen anything like this on the market, but in all seriousness with a graphic overhaul and new additions this could be a great chillout game that would still require some brain power to play both on PC after work and on mobile when you need to cool down a little bit.
The game is definitely more than meets the eye. I would like to see the idea expanded in the future.
Thanks for playing!
The inspiration mostly came from the thought 'a 4X game where you are the map generator'. When trying to find the fun I took some inspiration from the board game 'Carcassonne' who's world building element is pleasant to score. For example you get points for road length or city size in it. I've seen 'Dorfromantik' referenced, I did look up some game play and it has some similar ideas, I'll have to try it out later!
Definitely some strong Dorfromantik vibes. Generally soothing, very intuitive game. Nicely done!
Reminds me a lot of Dorfromantik, cool game!
Thanks for playing! Had to look them up, they have a neat UI where it shows points before placing a tile. That would have definitely helped with clarity here!
I really like the vibe of this one. It's a very chill game. Sometimes the objective of a specific level was difficult to initially comprehend, but all-in-all great job!
OMGG the music and SFX are superb! Loved this super peaceful and calm game, great work!
Maybe just because I'm a Catan Nerd, I really loved this one. It was quite calming, though I think the current selected tile and next ones in line could have had an outline, since they get hard to see once you branch out.
Thanks for playing! Agree, I though of that shortly after the jam ended while play testing.
Very cozy!
Neat idea and great that you have to figure out the satisfaction criteria, however with no time limit or world size constraints I felt it was super easy to just constantly build outwards with no penalty. Perhaps limiting the players freedom a bit would make it more puzzly. Also the UI in the bottom right corner blended in with the game world, perhaps just add a solid background behind it for readability. Neat game!
Thanks for playing! There should be a turn/tile limit with a score requirement that suppose to be met by figuring out how the tiles work together. Though there's a lack of feedback on how certain moves are effecting the player's score.
I would KILL for a map editor that had these sound effects and music and stuff. Like I would worldbuild so hard if I had these vibes while working lmao
Very neat take. I really loved the sound design. The music especially was just great to listen to. At points I found the goal pretty confusing, but after a while I was able to understand it. Congrats!
Thanks for playing!
This is what many of us need after a stressful jam-crunch weekend. Great job!
Glad you found it relaxing :)
I can definitely see that as a good relaxing puzzle game. Simple and creative, although some could argue that this is pretty much just a map creator, since you don't really see your map being used by the "player".
But the thing is, you added a mechanic that requires you not to just fill the map willy-nilly, but to actually fill the requirements. You could say that's a "player" setting the generating filter. So i think the Jam's theme is captured well.
Good job!
Thanks for playing! I 'm happy with how by changing tile frequency (more water than land = Archipelago) different level came out. When I finished the initial prototype I wasn't confident the idea had many levels I could get out of it.
So meditative... Really realxing :D
Thanks for playing!
This is so soothing. It's really satisfying to place the tiles. Don't really get all the objectives, but it's so zen so who cares
Thanks for playing!
I honestly didn't understand the purpose but omg i could play it for hours. It's just my dream to build maps it's so satisfying I want to make them in all possible forms
Thanks for playing! The goal is to make a zen map building game so I'm glad that worked :)
Nice!
