This was a fun little dungeon crawler. The amount of dialogue was great and the writing isn't bad. The puzzles were all pretty enjoyable and the amount of content is amazing for 48 hours. I would've loved to see more rooms/abilities but you already did a lot under the time constraints. Good job!
Great little game. I thought I had almost softlocked in that last room with the wall for a moment. I’m glad I stuck around for it so I could see the ending.
Nice work! Impressive for a 48 hr project, especially the amount of dialogue. I did get caught and had to skip through the intro again, so found myself wanting a checkpoint. Overall a great puzzle game.
Incredible work for a 48h jam! You put incredible effort on it!
Really fun puzzles, I will say while the story was fun (I said I liked them for their muscles) I would have liked to get into the puzzles sooner to appreciate the dialogue more.
I really enjoyed this, very cool arts too, good job!
Very well polish and developed game, the game fit the theme indeed
Great music, story, and gameplay! 10/10!
This one told a nice story, and served as a fun little dungeon crawl. Looking forward to the skeletal ska band in the future.
I'd listen to that ska band. Amusing presentation and chatter. Although the "Roles Reversed" part didn't come out in the gameplay, the journey is fun; it was a combination of dodging skelleys and thinking about bone placement, and I always love mixing genres. Thanks for the game!
This is a full on polished release! For a game jam! This seriously impressive. The level of detail in the dialogue is incredible, the music is fantastic, and I love the art. Really well done!
I love all the writing! It felt very immersive!
interesting gameplay, quite crazy how much story you managed to make in so little time, anyway this game violates minion work laws haha.
Im a sucker for good dialogues. I enjoyed this game so much!
Really satisfying main gameplay mechanic that creates some interesting environmental puzzles. Charming overall presentation as well. Nicely done :)
Thanks for the feedback and for enjoying the project!
Well done, making dialogue systems like that can be a hassle, but you managed in 48 hours! I got softlocked in the first room with the bridge, but easy to restart. Other than that it was a cool little puzzle game
The first room? I'm curious how you got softlocked? And Im' glad you enjoyed it. Re made the dialogue using Yarn and it looked pretty simple to engage with!
It's amazing that you managed to have so much dialogue going, it really gave this game a unique impression for me. I wish there were more to "Roles Reversed" than just the story though.
The idea was sort of meant to be that the role reversed was compared to a normal adventurer who would be caught in a large number of traps or fighting skeletons, since you're the one tackling the dungeon it's more of a stealth puzzler. I feel like if we had added a bit more into it we could have hit that idea but we ran out of time for that.
Interesting concept. I could see this expanded to a full game! Although making sure the player doesn’t softlock themselves might be a challenge.
Yeah I don't think there are any real softlocks? I did try to keep that in mind when making the basic puzzles. The only one would be the bridge glitch in the pit room and I think it's technically able to be removed from?
Glad you liked it!
Ooo, I see another yarn spinner user!
I enjoyed the personality + story you managed to add, felt like a nice whole experience. I think you could have added some more juice to the effects tho or maybe a sound effect (of course if you had time xD). Otherwise, great job!
Yeah that extra time is what did us in but SFX was the next thing on the list for if we were to continue, with a lighting system coming up shortly after that (before we started looking at an extra level or more mechanics down the line)
Really cool game! 😄
I liked the story and the personality that was given to Aliar and the puzzles were interesting! I could see this going further with more puzzles!
The one thing that could be improved, is that you have to start from the beginning if you lose, which can be frustrating. Also, there is a small bug, if a bridge turns off when you are on it, you fall into the void!
But these are minor issues, the game is fun! 🙂
What tools/engine did you use to make this?
Thank you so much for the feedback and enjoying it!
This was made in Unity using their 2D engine. It was my first time actually messing with the 2D side or the tilemapping so there is some ugliness like you mentioned with the bridge ^^; I usually do 3D but figured it'd be too hard to try and get art for that together in a game jam set of time!
Wow, this is the first 2D game? Very impressive!
I remember 2D in Unity being a bit counter-intuitive.
Well done making the game on the tight deadline! 😄
Definitely a bit counter-intuitive but in some ways a bit simpler! It worked out for the best I think!
