Very cool! Much more original and unique than my scaling tetris game.
But it's very difficult, my best was 350.
I'm not sure I get the best strategy yet
Thanks! My tip would be: Try to use the biggest size pieces as much as possible!
I did that 😅
I'm getting better at it! 1610 now!
I really like this game actually, it's honestly the most fun and mechanically the best game I've played in this jam!
my highscore is currently 7240
dayum
This is for sure the best game here, I want this on my phone immediately and will probably play this every day. think you could port this to a mobile platform???
It's definetely planned, but the main challenge with a mobile port is the controls being quite complex. I will need to look into how to make them as intuitive as possible without too many seperate buttons on screen. If you want, I'll definetely hit you up if the game is released for mobile!
Great concept that's well polished! Kept trying to up my high score for a while which goes to show its replay value.
This is a cool game.
I saw a few entries with the Tetris idea, this one is def the only good one, you implemented this extremely nicely.
I like the sfx, the art, the music, the smoothness of everything. No bugs found
Overall pretty nice entry!
A great idea, really elegant in its simplicity. Reminds of me Suika Game in how it starts of simple but gets very tricky the further you get.
With a game like this, I'd like to have a point goal built in so that I can feel like I know when I've "Beaten" it.
Another idea if you were to take the game further would be to build in a reward for placing a piece in a more difficult way could add some more depth without affecting the complexity.
Overall, I really liked it, great job!
Great game! Well designed and well executed.
I think the best strategy is to scale to the biggest as often as possible.
Congrats! Yeah that's right, if you can place big pieces they are worth it.
That is pretty clever. I feel clearing a line should yield a bit more "juice".
Overall really good entry.
What a smart concept! I loved this one. It's a great evolution of a classic idea.
even though its soo simple i've found myself playing it for very long
What an absolutely amazing idea, despite its simplicity! I couldn't get very good at the game, but I had fun the whole way through regardless, and there's clearly an incredible amount of depth despite how straightforward it is. Like Tetris itself! Even just the natural risk-reward system you've got going on with the different-sized pieces is remarkable. This game definitely deserves way more ratings, preferably ones with deservedly high scores.
(Side note: I'm not sure why, but my 2023 MacBook Pro could not run the game and only showed the UI and played sound effects and music, but the gameplay itself was just a black screen. I could, thankfully, still play it on my old Windows laptop. I recognize most people probably aren't developing on Mac so other players likely won't run into the same issue, but I just thought it might be good to know this if you ever plan on updating anything about the game. But again, the game's great!)
Darn I really love this game. I'm hooked. Played it three times, got a high score of 1360 so far!
The music is nice without being distracting or boring, the blocks are satisfying, and the gameplay is really fun. I didn't fully get it on my first play and only made around 300 points, but on the second go, I better understood where the placement-thinking comes into it and I'm having a great time :D
UPDATE: MY NEW HIGH SCORE IS 3360
very simple, but fits the theme very well! Good job :)
Cool job, well done!
was hard to stop once I got going
nice creative game, had me hooked
