How does your game fit the theme?
The game is about "scaling" (as in climbing) a space station. Not only that... we have committed ourselves to a philosophical exploration of some of the possible interpretations of the word SCALE. Including a bit of social commentary as a side dish.

Really cool take on the theme! I also think you did a create job creating the dark, cold space atmosphere. I wasn't very great at moving around but the difficulty did add some fun tension when moving between handles. Great work!
Thanks for your feedback! :)
Really liked the vibe in this one - the size and quality is impressive considering the length of the jam! I didn't reach the end but enjoyed exploring and navigating between handles. I liked the way bright yellow handles stood out and could be seen from a distance - it made it easy to see potential directions I could explore. I would have loved there to be some kind of aftertouch control when you are in mid-flight, like an air release or something (even if small and limited!) so that it was a little more forgiving, but as others have said the difficulty kind of fits the theme nicely. Great job!
Thank you so much for the feedback and the idea for some kind of a mid-flight dynamic. We will definitely explore further! :)
I can only agree with previous comments, some sort of checkpoint system would be great. Maybe something a'la Jusant would fit perfectly.
I must say that I just came back from cinema and playing this game right after watching Alien Romulus definitely made me appriciate the atmosphere even more.
I wonder what the used assets specifically were, as the station looks to me a little like a scan of a GPU/PC Motherboard, which is an interesting look.
The begining was confusing and I also got "Browned", so there was some frustration, but I played through that and I am glad that I did. The jumping and catching effect worked exactly like I would expect it to work in any game set in space. It could be a part of a bigger full release and I would not know that it was made in only 96 hours.
Cheers and good luck!
Wow, thank you for this extensive review!
Funnily enough, right before starting the work on the game, we watched Alien: Romulus in the cinema, haha. We wanted to get inspired by it, so you saying that feels great.
I'll pass the question about the assets to Robin (who worked on the Environment Art part, among other things), they'll let you know.
I am also glad you said that it could be part of a bigger release. We definitely plan on polishing it, and maybe even extending it into a slightly bigger, more elaborate, game/experience.
Thanks again for playing and spending time writing this review :)
I mean... The text in the menu made it pretty obvious what your inspiration was ^^
Haha, that's true.
Thank you so much for taking time with writing such a great review, lots of great feedback and I'm glad you noticed the Alien Romulus inspiration, that's exactly what I was going for. For the station I used this texture by a Czech texture artist called Jan Trubač, I recommend checking him out on Art Station, he does great stuff! On top of the texture I made a simple tiling system depending on the players' distance from the object and played a bit with colors, normals and roughness which resulted in this cpu motherboard look.
Thanks for taking the time to reply! :)
I agree with the below comments - very difficult to play, but incredibly atmospheric and exciting. I didn't mind missing a handhold, cause then I felt like a guy from a sci fi movie contemplating his life as he slipped away into the void. Nice work! :D
Hey, potato guy from discord! :)
Thank you so much for playing, and I am glad you experienced the feelings we intended.
Very hard game but really really enjoyable. I like the difficulty but would be better with checkpoints. I love how everything looks and I like your interpretation of the theme! I love it!
Thank you for the kind words! Means a lot :)
We will definitely add checkpoints later.
Really like the implementation of the movement and grabbing, nice use of assets, clear visual design and I always knew what I needed to do, never felt lost.
That said, lack of checkpoints meant I didn't get to finish, would love to see the end!
Thank you for the feedback! :)
Watched on stream and your words were insightful and we will take them into consideration for post-jam updates. Also thanks for the idea of making a playthrough video.
VERY atmospheric, almost anxiety-inducing in a fun way! I will say, I wish it was more forgiving with grabbing the handles, but at the same time I liked that it was punishing cuz thats what made it fun! Good submission and cool graphics! Played at https://twitch.tv/hedge_in <3 vod day 2!!!
I was kinda addicted and didn't want to stop, i kept saying "one more try" on stream LOL
Hey! Thank you so much!!! I just watched the VOD and you really looked like the target audience, haha.
We definitely should have made it at least a bit more forgiving. Also you mentioned that the physics when you launch from a moving ship should work differently, yes, they should, I really wanted to finish it (and it hit me even more when I saw you aiming correctly but failing due to the missing implementation), but we had no more time and didn't want to risk fucking up the build with more stuff, haha.
Your playthrough was really anxiety-inducing, I loved it! I am a bit sad that you didn't make it to the end, you were literally so close (and put so much time and effort, thank you for that.) All that was to be done was to launch yourself into the BIG fans (leap into the unknown of sorts) right after the last "puzzle", when you were holding onto that railing and were confused where to go next. They will push you into the last section. But that's on us, we should've signal it better.
(PS: There is a short cinematic at the end as a reward, in case you want to give it another try, wink wink, shame we made it too hard, or frustrating, so not many people get to see it)
ahhh i'll definitely try to revisit it!! thank you for watching!! <3
I liked the game, but I feel it should have some checkpoints because going all the way back is a bit frustrating. Other than that, I really enjoyed the atmosphere and the darkness :
Thanks for the feedback :)
Checkpoints are the number one issue that players generally had. We plan on fixing that in the post-jam updates!
Could have used checkpoints before tricky obstacles like the floating platforms.
Cool vibe though.
Thank you for the feedback! :) Noted.
Really fun, great atmosphere! At the beginning I found myself wanting to be able to push off walls, but it makes sense considering how each handhold is a "platform" in design. Maybe there could be a way to push off walls, but you wouldn't have time to line up your jump at all like with the holds, for the chance at a risky recovery if you miss.
Thanks for the kind words and great feedback! Pushing off walls or other surfaces is certainly something we thought about and wanted to find a way to balance it into the game but due to time constraints we didn't have time for it. We'll certainly add it after the jam!
It's a fun game, and definitely used the concept in a unique way. Controls are a little wonky, though :) Why not have the flashlight on by default?
Thanks for the feedback! We decided to have the fladhlight turned off by default to make the player feel more uneasy right from the start and give them motivation to actually read the intro subtitles.
This makes me feel... scared? Space is terrifying.
GOOD GAME!
Thank you so much for the kind words! Happy to hear someone else is as terrified of the outer space as us.
So freaking cool! Creative concept and nice execution... I love the muffled SFX and feel of remote isolation. Very well done...
Thank you very much for playing and for the kind review!
I always get happy when someone points out the sound design. Really tried to make it as immersive as possible :)
I’ve heard your game is also great from my teammate (+ i was looking over the shoulder while they were playing, haha) will definitely check it out myself as well.
I love the atmosphere and art. It really makes you feel like a little human jumping in space.
If I could add one thing it would be checkpoints. I felt like I made pretty good progress then had to restart all the way from the beginning.
Other than that nicely done!
Thank you! We appreciate the kind words :)
We are now pretty certain we will add checkpoints after the game jam, a lot of people gave similar feedback.
This is amazingly terrifying, preying on a very specific fear of flying into the void. The scale of the structure and the dispensability of your character gives an incredible atmosphere, with some pretty good sound design to boot. I get it's meant to be unforgiving, but a checkpoint system would be welcome. The game does have some stakes without one, but having to start over each time did keep me from experiencing the rest of the game. Great work!
Also, you might enjoy a game called Lorn's Lure if you like climbing megastructures like this.
Thanks for this great review! :)
It would probably be best to add at least one check point in the middle of the level to keep the player playing (the level itself is not that long, but the player has no way of knowing that) Thanks for pointing that out. We will definitely polish it more and maybe expand on it if we decide to continue working on it after the game jam ends.
Also thanks for the recommendation, will check it out.
Great game bro, keep going like that
Thank you so much! Appreciate it :)
This was a great interpretation of the brief! I certainly felt very small, physically and mentally, in this massive space. I could definitely see this being a type of mission in a larger fleshed out space RPG of sorts. Great job!
Thanks for the kind review and for giving our entry a try!
Haha, we definitely would love to take the setting and ideas behind it and make something a more elaborate and complete experience :) We love this aspect of science fiction and what it has to offer in terms of understanding humanity, both physically and mentally as you pointed out!
Yoooooo this game is so cool
Woah, thank you! Your reaction makes all the effort we put info it worth it :)
I like how you interpreted the theme. It's fun to float around in zero-g and make risky jumps.
Thank you so much! :)
I am glad you had fun and that it gave you the feeling we intended.
