I spent a lot more time on this game than I care to admit. This is a very nice tight gameplay loop. Its as if you took the fun from that other game about swording a dragon, and you made it arcade like. I would love to see this expanded with a bit more depth. Such as waves. Or upgrades. or some such.

this is such an interesting game, sword concepts are always interesting and having it yank you around and bounce you off the ground is so interesting, it almost feels like you could add some various terrain and it would become almost a speed run to get through areas easier when shorter, almost a forced progression system where cramped space leads to less cramped space as you move. but other ways could work spectacularly as well, or simply expand on the behavior of the sword and what happens as you go higher. amazing experience for its simplicity

Thanks for the feedback! You should check out "deepest sword' if you haven't before.

Incredibly entertaining! Simple concept but executed so well. Really nice presentation and style too. Excellent work

Nice game. I really enjoyed it. The gameplay and art-style was perfect, the music was perfect. I got almost 10000. During the gameplay the single observation (if it was not intended) is that you can make your player jump when you move the sword really fast from the ground and it created an opening for the monsters to kill me. But the game seems to be working 100% without any problem.

The sword does pull on the player. I tried to add a weight system, where the sword gets heavier as it grows, and the play style would have to change around that, but getting the physics to play nice was a challenge. It definitely needs more work. Thanks for the feedback!

This game is shockingly fun! I feel like you nailed your game feel. You've got the core of a very entertaining game here if you choose to keep expanding on it!

Love the art style, and the use of the theme is clever ! Loved it !!

A fun and simple concept for a game, which I haven't seen done too much before, I really enjoyed it, good music choice and simple, intuitive controls, my only real suggestion would be a life system

This is a really fun idea, nice work!

I'm apparently very good at accidentally swinging into the floor, getting stuck, and impaling myself on a ghost tho

really very fun, reminded me a lot of PoleRiders on foddy.net, by the game dev who also made Getting Over It. I think this game would also be more interesting if obstacles to vault over were added somehow

I had a lot of fun with this, nice simple idea, nice simple execution, well done!

Very fun. I would laugh at how small the sword looks when you restart after dying. The one hit death does add a lot of suspense when playing, but I would have liked to have 3 hearts and be able to pick up more hearts when pole vaulting high to grab them, just so I could play longer and have more fun.

Interesting idea. Maybe having a life bar would have been better. I died too much T-T

i really like the idea! very simple to pick up and plays pretty well. like the other raters here i also think there could be more variety in the enemies. maybe an enemy that chips your sword so you don't have to keep swinging? i was also pretty interested by the height mechanic, maybe have something unavoidable or unkillable pass by on the ground so that the player *has* to move up? still a pretty cool game and idea nonetheless!

high score: 15070, height: 6.7m🙏

Developer

Oh, that's a really good idea. A big slow moving enemy that is constantly chasing you on the ground that you are forced to jump over.

real cute and very well polished! Reminds me of  Deepest Sword :D Great job

The control and mechanics is very fun to play with and are combined well! I really like the feeling when I stand on the sword and than spin and swing around. I thought when the swords getting longer there would be a punishment for weight that makes you swing slower to provide dynamic difficulty

Developer

I did try adding a slow/weight mechanic but couldn't get the physics to play nice. A mechanic that forces you to change your play style would definitely be useful here.

Wish you there was some more creativity in how you move and can use the sword, and some more enemies but the idea's very fun

Fun controls, and the concepts good :) Some more enemy variety would be good though, at the moment its practically impossible to lose if you just swing the sword left and right when its big

Love the way the controls feel and the way the character move. Launching yourself using the sword is amazing and made me laugh out loud the first time i did it. I could see myself playing this for another hour if there weren't so many other games to try
