I really enjoyed this building game. Very creative applications of resets, building materials, all sorts of great stuff. I struggle with building so I couldn't make it very far, and I wish the lootbox opening was faster, but boy was this an impressive jam experience.

How does your game fit the theme?
Literally Building a tower that not only increases in scale, but you also have to scale it :D.

This is a fun game! I enjoy the idea of basically building your own level to scale up. I also really like the visuals and overall vibe of the game, and I thought the music was a good choice. The 'loot box' system is a pretty fun idea, and I love the animations for them!
Here's some other feedback if you continue to work on this:
- I soft-locked myself by getting caught between blocks in just the right way. I feel like it should be OK to rest wherever right now so maybe there shouldn't be a limitation on that if you aren't on the ground?
- I couldn't tell if there were checkpoints or something, but it doesn't seem like it. It was rewarding to find more loot crates, but as a player I kept thinking to myself: "I really hope I can find a checkpoint because this might take forever otherwise." I didn't get that far in the game before I got soft locked, but it felt like I spent a really long time to make relatively small progress.
- There's a bit of fun 'bug' right now where you can actually place the last block in a turn by placing it and then quickly exiting build mode. I enjoyed finding that and cheating a bit by using it! it's also a bit of a challenge to actually get it to fall right into the place you want it. I assume that isn't intentional though, it was fun to find though!
Good job on the game! It's awesome how much you got done--definitely a large scale game for this jam :)
This is my favorite game so far in this gamejam! With some improvements i can see this becoming a full steam release! It also gives Ultimate Chiken Horse vibes.
So much content and possibilities, and so many parts, packed into a lil jam game. You did an amazing job!
You should definetly work on this more after the gamejam ends
Also, imagine how a multiplayer mode would be!
I've also enjoyed the chaotic mess i made:
So fun, I ended up making a obstacle course where one fatal move sent me back to the start. I lost it all, slipped and fell, I didn't look away. That said the are was really good and really fit the game you were trying to make. Well done and well thought out!
The concept seems quite interesting, I like the idea of building up as you climb.
But implementation seems lacking. I see these reasons for it:
- Gravity. It necessitates that in order to build higher you need a wider foundation. So you’ll spend a lot of time down below placing bricks so the whole structure doesn’t collapse, instead of climbing up and building as you go.
- Also because of it you can’t be sure how the element will fall as you place it. And you can mess up and collapse the whole structure, losing a lot of progress.
- Why not just stick the elements to the grid? It would be more intuitive and less frustrating.
- Dumb limitations. Why only one remove per build? Why only a pittance of free objects? It’s clear that the stuff you get from boxes in the world is not enough to climb to the next box, so the player is forced to go back and forth to the build mode just to get some platforms to place. At that point you start to wonder why even bother and why not just spam platforms.
- I would also like if you didn’t teleport down on build. This makes just sitting at the bottom and spamming build -> platforms even more compelling, as you can’t use the box immediately where you get it.
There are also small things like animations being too long, and UI being a little hard to control. But these will be easy to fix.
All in all, I think with some work this idea has a lot of potential!
I hate this game, I hate this game so much. I cannot express how much I hate this game with all my body and soul. Not because it's a bad game because it just proves how bad I am at it and games in general and it exposes all my flaws as a person and a human being and has literally destroyed my life and stolen my cat.
No but seriously I suck at this game. I tried to brute force my way through it by just making giant piles and that got me nowhere. Then I accidentally restarted and lost all my progress (not that there was much to lose) and then even when trying to do it properly I still couldn't do it. This game is an ultimate test of patience and planning that I just do not possess and for that reason I'm out.
Graphics are good, I love the variety of items and the loot box style mechanic. Seeing "pity box" constantly though just felt like a slap on the face personally haha. I took that really personally, like I don't need your pity Gr0n. Take your box and shove it up y---- anyways yeah looks cool. Love the height gauge (not that I could go very high) but being able to scroll up to see the heavens that I will never reach is also kinda cool... I guess... From the ground most things look cool when you look up, shame I'll never be at the top looking down...
Very Ultimate Chicken Horse inspired with the building mechanics and hazards and such but with an interesting single player twist and goal. Looking at the game page I could see there were a ton of other items... but I guess those are in the fancy crates higher up... stupid high floating crates.
I all seriousness this is just not my type of game so take my review with a pinch of salt. I'm clearly not the target audience for something like this and I just can't force myself through to finish it because of it. It's entirely possible that there are others who love this sort of thing. I know rage games and climbing things are super popular, but just not for me.
i didnt like the game very much honestly it gets repetitivevery quickly and half of the time you're just waiting for boxes to open.
I think if you put more tought into this concept the game would be a definetly in the top 10 but as it is now its jut decent,
hope you can improve the ideas because the potential of this is very promising.
I liked it a lot but it was slow to branch out sideways but once I got a strategy it was really fun!
Gameplace is a little slow paced, if you have time to tune it a bit, this would be a real gem!
I really like the core concept of the game, and it was fun slowly building your way up! The game plays well!
However, there are a couple design decisions I just can't get behind that hindered the experience for me. Only being able to hammer one thing per round felt tedious and unnecessary. Maybe the vibe was to try and make do with what you could each round, but I really liked the idea of finnagling and editing your structure as you get new blocks, but that's not really possible with such limited editing each round. Misplacing a block felt really punishing, especially since you lose all your blocks between rounds, so you can't just wait to destroy something next round.
I still really loved the concept and ended up playing for quite a while despite!
Your game proved me right that I am horrendously bad at building haha, nonetheless I enjoyed these several minutes that i've spent on playing your game and I think you did an extremely good job! I like it :)
Well, this one illustrates how games are ackhually build - with sticks and duct tape.(Duct tape DLC when ? btw)
Had some fun playing it, found it relaxing.
Now, 2 thingies me thinks would make this game a lil better:
1) Bigger coyote time - cuz rn jumping is somewhat hard
2) Maybe checkpoints - after a while, going up after each build phase becomes somewhat tedious.
This is so much fun and I like the simple Retro Art a lot. I will Play some more and rate afterwards!
Hi Gr0n! I'm coming over from Discord after seeing your submission. :) I gave it about 20 minutes; I like the idea a lot. As far as feedback, I don't have much to add to the other posters other than one thing that stood out to me in my experience. That one thing was just the counter-intuitiveness of everything when I first started. I didn't realize how different blocks or the game loop worked until after I had just played with things and failed for a while. Introducing players to novel mechanics like this might be a good idea! That's all I have got, though!
Check out our submission for the jam as well, and let me know what you think!
