Ranked from 37 ratings. Score is adjusted from raw score by the median number of ratings per game in the jam.

How does your game fit the theme?
Not only are you increasing the scale of the charging circle while you are charging it (the inside circle grows), we have circles of different sizes that allow for differing degrees of dodging freedom while charging them. Each circle collected will build a column in the multiplier bar, allowing for the player to literally build the scaling value of their score.

love this simple game so mucch!!! wish to have more content to play,,very nice art also

Developer

Thank you so much! So glad you had a good time with it.

Bro what on earth. This is wild. The difficulty ramps up so quickly aha, no idea how these people got such insane scores. The game itself is a great idea and well executed

Developer

Hahaha, thanks for playing and commenting!

Submitted

Very fun game! Though it gets pretty hard very fast

Developer

Thanks for playing and commenting! The difficulty could definitely have some smoothing out, for sure.

I love this! the idea is cool, the music is banging, the art is simple, it’s very nice and well rounded!.

I do feel like the start is a bit slow, and there should be some kind of a health bar. Also some more sfx would have been nice

I love leaderboards! they introduce a lot of re-playability and challenging aspects, it’s what I did with my own submission, you should try playing it for sure

btw as a person whose device sucks at web games so prefers the windows builds, I think your windows build is missing files! It didn’t run because there was no “main scene” apparently.

overall, nice entry! def top 10 from what I played.

Developer

Thanks so much for playing and for your feedback! My auto-build pipeline broke a bit with Butler, not sure why! Sorry about that.

Very nice game. It's crazy how quickly the difficulty increases in this game, it was quite an ordeal to stay alive. If there's something I want to say, it's that there's not an easy way to tell how much health you have, the cursor gets damaged, but it's still confusing. It'd be nice to have a more clear way to tell how many more hits you can take before losing.

Developer

Thanks so much for playing! That's interesting, I haven't heard that feedback before! Thanks for passing it along.

Submitted

Very fun, but I wish there was a way to heal. I damaged myself a lot at first trying to figure out how to play, and couldn't seem to regen that health. Good job!

Developer

Thanks for playing and for your comment! I'm planning on bringing in pickups, unique charging shapes, and some bug-fixes for a post-jam update!

Submitted

I loveee this game but despite having great knowledge of it, you know, since I was one of many watching you make it - I can't get past like 11k points, I'm a noob ;_;

Developer

It's surprisingly difficult! I'm so glad you enjoy it. Thank you for playing, watching, and commenting!

This game needs more cowbell! Also, I wanted more "pew pews" and "bang bangs".  I need to try to get further and see if I get shields and ways to damage the turrets/lasers that show up because I want to defend myself. I do like the simplicity of the controls and I think the balance is pretty good at least the ramp up felt fair.

Developer

Listen, I put my pants on just like the rest of you, one leg at a time. Except, once my pants are on I, make gold-record gamejam games /s iykyk

No powerups, but that's a great idea for a post-jam version! I'm glad you had a good time, thank you so much for playing and for your feedback!

It gets really challenging later on!
The diferent proyectiles add an extra level, but I was thinking that maybe diferent circles that require diferent movements to be filled, or maybe a dognut shape. Coool idea

Developer

A doughnut is a really interesting concept! Honeycombs, etc. could all add a fun layer of constraint external of the bullet hell stuff. Thanks for playing and for your feedback!

Super nice mechanics, I thought it was pretty easy at first, but was quickly proven wrong once the multipliers started rolling in. Great idea to add a leaderboard in! Competing against other people is a lot of fun and instantly adds another dimension to the game. I'm not sure whether it's a bug that the turrets don't show up again anymore later on, but just fire their stuff at you, but it sure made it a lot more difficult to dodge them. Great job either way!!

Developer

Yes, that turret bug breaks my heart every time someone mentions it! I just could NOT figure out why it kept getting interrupted and breaking. Post-jam update to fix it hopefully soon!

Thanks so much for playing and commenting!

Cute itch.io page description. Sick boot splash, I really enjoyed the mouse movement bullet hell mechanic, it created a simple and addictive game play loop. I started to prioritize certain circles to fill the right side up just enough for the next multiplier. Were circle sizes random? One run felt like I only got small circles. Fun game! Great job!

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much for playing! Circle sizes were random, yes. I think in the future I want to make it not wave-based, but time-based so you can pick and choose what to go for with a bit more variety and freedom.

Submitted

Really crazy and fun! My high score was 20k but I kept dying around that mark due to a difficulty spike that felt kinda sudden

Developer

Thank you so much fo rplaying, I'm glad you had a good time! Yes, the jump from 3 to 4 turrets at once is huge since it also increases how fast everything comes in. It also causes some bugs like towers not fully retreating into the walls or not coming out all the way that also make it extra difficult haha.

Submitted

Very hectic and fun game!I like the music and the visuals were clean, and I like the idea of needing to choose which circle to charge at the moment based on it's size and how in danger it is at the moment. I like that small circles were quicker to charge and provided less benefit while larger circles took longer but provided more benefit, although maybe the fact that it was easier dodge while to charging them was already benefit enough. To complain a bit, I never really felt threatened by the straight laser, maybe they should have appeared in patterns more specifically intended to box you in. Additionally, the stacking circles bar on the right ultimate behaved basically the same as a meter you needed to fill up with a physics flavor, but I see what the intention was and it's pretty neat.

Developer

Thanks so much for playing and for your feedback! I agree with all of your points!

Really enjoyed this! Filling up the bar on the right is really original as well. Nice work!

Thank you so much for your comment and for playing the game!

That bug has befuddled me thoroughly haha. Hoping to get it wrapped up after the jam. Thank you for playing!

Here to claim my dominant place as the best player of this game besides the creator as of this comment. Worth it too because this is a damn slick game. Fully enjoyed myself playing this game, and replayed it quite a few times too. Simple to pick up, only one control, mouse movement, diegetic health indicator with your ship damage, and there's neat strategy in dodging and weaving within a large circle, choosing how much time to linger in the tiny circles and how they physically affect your score multiplier. It's a simple concept, and has potential for more depth or creative liberty, but what's there works well.

Aesthetically, the game is very slick, with only a couple minor nitpicks. The music choice is absolutely phenomenal, and the visual style is great—very clean and readable. The overlapping red colors of the balls and lasers tends to get a little muddied up and could be differentiated, and I recommend using vectors next time because they are just shapes after all, so no need for pixelly rasterization looking close. The sound effects aren't super impressive, they're extremely low key outside of getting damaged, but the particle effects when scoring and smoking are just joyful to look at and great and naturalistically conveying information along with the score multiplier.

Also, I couldn't get the offline Windows build to work, but this is all easily forgivable because this is an excellent game to make in the course of 4 days. The loop is just solid playable, very simple and easy to introduce, and has all the bells and whistles to keep me coming back until I was the best non-creator scorer. I kind of want to actually see it in an arcade now! So very well done.

I’m very proud of how far you’ve come since I started seeing your stuff with overload, this looks professional, polished and complete. You delivered on what you intended and cut what you had to to make it happen.

image.png

couldn’t quite beat you, maybe next time

positive:

  • I didn’t read any instructions and the game made itself obvious very quickly (“obvious” meant in a positive way)
  • The ramping up of intensity is spot on and enforces that the player loses before getting bored with the content
  • Fits well for the theme and it’s not climbing, building, body gets big/small or startup management, that in itself is a lot of points from me.

here’s some improvement points:

  • the red can be very hard to read in some contexts (bubble color + background noise), the palette looks very nice but every now and then I get hit by not seeing a circle bullet because it just blends in too much. a bit more contrast there would be great

  • the laser towers look super cool, but are pretty much harmless, would be cool if they moved later on when your score is higher.

  • I felt that the game hinted at me that it wouldn’t shoot me unless I touch a circle (or maybe the cooldowns just happened to line up) early on, and that changes later. I’m not sure that’s really a system or just happened to be perceived that way (similar to you imagining complex systes in xorbit). Maybe make sure towers shoot the player a bit more early on to not give this impression (if that’s not the case) that you won’t get shot unless you’re touching the circles.

all in all, great experience, looking forward to see what you make next. please teach me how you come up with these ideas : P

Developer

Wonderful feedback, thank you Zaft! I'm surprised about the contrast comment, I'll take a closer look at that! Thank you so much for playing!
