Simply lovely.
I normally don't get too into deck builders but this one hooked me. Figuring out a winning strategy took me a while, and it sometimes felt like rng would lock you into a losing state, but I played until I got a win and genuinely really enjoyed myself.
This is cool! Nice a see a deckbuilder in the jam. Also like the style choices with color and aspect ratio a lot!
Interesting idea ! definitely could use some more levels with different lvl design
Creative idea. Took me a second to understand what I had to play (and even which areas I was meant to press, and which ones were just UI), but after that I beat the game quite easily.
It feels quite tough, I had much trouble moving more than 2 up after a few attempts.
Nice job though!
Very creative! In one turn, I mistakenly pressed “Play” instead of “Discard”, which almost caused me to lose lol. But I got to the end! It was good fun c:
This was a very creative idea! It took me a while to understand the mechanics (specifically that the discard pile gets reshuffled, I was hording up cards for no reason) but once I got the hang of it it was very enjoyable to play.
One note that I have, I might be wrong but I feel like the sideways wind also blows you down? I would find it interesting if the wind actually blows you sideways, which may even help you scale the mountain.
I really liked it. I did not expect the poker mechanics but it was a nice addition. Though to be honest I didn't quite get what the purpose of the enemies were, but still good game.
Really cool concept! I love deck builders and I really like how you merged poker hands with cards that move the player around and having to keep track of the order of playing the cards. The hazards like the wind and the enemies were great and telegraphed really well! With some polish, I'd absolutely buy this game! My two nitpicks are: (1) I wish it was clear what kind of card you were picking up before you picked it up. (2) I wish your whole remaining hand would discard at the end of the turn and you draw back to 5 with a fresh hand next turn. There were a couple situations I got really stuck in because with only 1 discard per turn, I couldn't get through my deck and back to the cards I wanted quick enough.
Fantastic game though! Pat yourself on the back
Thanks for the feedback and thanks for playing! We originally had the "redraw 5 new cards every turn" but thought it made discard redundant and liked the idea of keeping cards to plan ahead for next turn.
I love a game with a good deck system, and this is definitely one of those! Really cool mechanics and the art worked well with it.
Great work! Would love to see more of it if you ever expand on the idea.
Once I figured out how to play I got a nice little rhythm going and beat the game on my first try. I can see potential for this if it gets some polish, but the foundation you’ve made here is rock solid. I’d suggest giving the player some more room to make difficult choices if you decide to work on this some more. Thank you for your game!
Realising that you can "waste" cards if you're against edges took me an embarassingly long time to realise lol
This is a really satisfying game to play once you get your head around the mechanics, The poker hands system felt really good to plan around and afforded me a few narrow escapes :)
Very fun game, I like how the wind telegraphs itself so you need to make decisions. I like how I can burn cards if I’m leaning up against a wall, or sitting on the ground.
Very good! It was quite satisfying to reach the end.
This game is incredibly cool! The card and poker mechanics made this a ton of fun, and made for a lot of really interesting strategy, like realizing you could play two left cards into a wall to re-draw something more useful. My only real complaints are that the in-game tutorial should really mention the poker hands part of the game- I missed it entirely at first until I saw people talking about it on this page-, and I think the texture of the brown walls is too similar to the normal cliff face, which makes it too easy to not realize they're supposed to block your movement. Still, this gameplay is really unique and provides a ton of interesting strategy, I had a great time.
Was relatively easy but still fun. Is a nice demo and would be cool to see expanded with more complex mechanics and obstacles.
I feel that there is a lot of potential in this idea! Two pieces of feedback:
It took me a while to understand that doing a combo grants you new cards, maybe double down on the poker hand by using deck cards? Also, I wish there were more "up" cards than others or that the up movement was automatic and the hazards/bad choices could bring you down.
Good job!
I really liked the core mechanics for this. Once I figured out that I was supposed to play poker hands, the level of strategy got even better.
Nice game! Deck mechanic was unique and cool.
LOVE LOVE LOVE the idea of a deckbuilding climbing game. Overall the execution was pretty solid, although there was definitely a bit of a learning curve that could be helped by copying the HELP menu into the game page description. Had a lot of fun (even though I died 3/4 of the way up rip)
