Awesome to see another music-based game in the jam! There’s a neat ebb-and-flow to the gameplay trying to weave between rocks in time with the music. It was fun trying to get my special move (not sure what it’s called) on the beat too. I also really enjoyed the collage aesthetic, and the music was super chill while still providing a strong beat.
I did find some of the hitboxes and timings a bit mean - you can only just make it through some on time, and some are really pixel-perfect. There also don’t seem to be any invincibility frames after getting hit, so you can take damage what looks like every frame - several times I lost all of me health on one wall in about half a second. I think adding those would make the game a lot more enjoyable!
Nice work overall!
super interesting! the creativity of the cut out images asthetic and the cool rythmic mechanics are great, but I feel like some of the actions aren't super clear or at least there isnt a lot of feedback to the player, plus some of the hitboxes felt pretty mean.
cool game overall tho!
Really pretty game.
Hitboxes are a bit unforgiving though.
AMAZING style and concept!
I really like rhythm games, and this is a really cool take on the genre.
The only downside I can see is some unforgiving hitboxes in the third level, but overall I really LOVED this game!
The visual and music symbiosis is clearly visible here. I would say it is pretty artistic. And yet another scaling mechanic i havent thought of before. Nice!
Wow, the visuals are so cool! Great job!
incredible game with lovely visuals and I love that the music is in synch with the size of the jellyfish (I think it's a jellyfish) and i find the jellyfish itself so cute with her little noise I was a little sad when she died because I was loosing anyway great game 5 stars in all the categories
Absolutely gorgeous game! Love the scrapbook, vapourwave aesthetic and it really fits the underwater vibe. The music is wonderfully trance inducing. The dynamic music system is a really nice touch too and integrates well into the gameplay. I have absolutely no sense of rhythm so I was terrible at it but I can see how you could get into the flow! I would love for the mechanics to be a little better explained as I missed a lot of statues, and maybe there could be some more feedback as to how long an ability lasts for. Overall though it was a super unique game to see with some amazing art direction in it!
art director und gameplay team haben anscheinend eine krasse verbindung :-)
<3
Lovely art and soundtrack, and very cool idea! I found it to get pretty punishing pretty early on - might have helped to get half a second of invulnerability each time you get hit, or start with slower music / wider gaps and then ramp up.
Yeah, definitely, there is an invulnerability window built in, but it is definitely too short. And there should be easier levels at the beginning. Thanks for the feedback, especially the constructive part :)
I really love the vibe! I find the controls kinda annoying, but the mechanic of controlling your size based on the beat is great.
Thank you for the kind words! The annoying controls are certainly a recurring feedback, I wonder what would have been a better way to handle that. The only thing I can come up with is controller support, that could be nice I think...
Loved the design and how you managed to keep the rhythm throught the game! Even if you press space way off beat, it seamlessly keeps the scaling in the correct tempo afterwards (of course I tried to break that once I realised, to no avail). I also love how your take on the theme technically hits two different interpretations, as in musical and fish scales! I unfortunately couldn’t get pass the third level, but I did manage to see the pipes which allowed me to listen to more of the excellent music. What a deep beat!
Yeah! I always hope people can make it to the pipes at least, cause that's where the music really picks up :) I am a musician, not a programmer, so I had no idea if the syncing would work, I just stumbled across it when we started with the idea of the player scaling up and down rhythmically. I am amazed that it works myself and it easily allows for rhythm checks and evaluation of the players tightness, too. I am eager to try more ideas with it. Wow, I realize this little Gam Jam thing could have quite the impact! :)
I really liked the musical puzzles, and the way everything was sync'd. Art style super unique, very very cool game. I wish the controls were made a little more obvious, but once I worked them out, it was wonderful (albeit a bit annoying to use sometimes!) Getting to the end was satisfying, but damn those fish...
Wait, did you beat the whole thing since I left a comment on your game´s page?! Awesome! Thank you for playing and for the feedback! <3
yes :D We saw that it was a rhythm game, and as our musician I get challenged to do these things, and it was great fun haha
Haha, I am so glad someone beat the whole game :D
This is a really awesome game, nice job! Definitely harder than it looks at first glance, but the mechanics felt intuitive and I love the vibe
I absolutey adore the style and the music! It's very unique and trippy and right up my alley. I have to agree though that I found it quite tough. But I will try to progress further later on, if just to enjoy the vibes a bit more. Great work! :)
Wow, thank you! <3 It means a lot coming from someone who´s game I enjopyed so much myself! Our team consists of one musician and one visual artist, so those were our strong suits. :)
God damn, what a ride this was! Thanks for playing peeps! Listen to the statues and try holding down the dash button once you found it.
And stay in the rhythm, it makes it easier.
We are so excited 😄
I like the collage style and game concept. Quite tough, like the genre of 'Getting Over It.
Haha, we didn't have anyone for playtesting, so I am the only one who played the game before release, and now that some friends checked it out I realize how tough it is 😅 Thank you so much for playing and leaving a comment!
Such a neat concept, and really love the design- reminds me of like old magazine collages if that makes sense? Great Job :)
Thank you so much! It's the first game us two ever made, so I am overly excited to read your comments about it 😁
