How does your game fit the theme?
My game both plays with scale in the literal dimensional sense, but also in the software development sense, as the game is about a person unable to handle their workload/stress, and thus not being built to scale. Their problems literally increase in scale as the game goes on -- the lack of scalability literally represented by scale. As I said in the description, this is essentially a sort of 'scaleception,' so I think it fits the theme very well.

That hurt to play, didn't expect this.

As  others have mentioned, the dialog is a bit on-the-nose at some points, but I think some of it works well already. But what really stands out to me is everything else that slowly changes, the scale of objects, your walking speed, your character model, the to do list... It really gets the point across.

I hope making this game wasn't such a bad experience for you, glad you made it :)

The way the problem stack up are hauntlingly real. really good and to the point game, very glad to see games like this one take spotlight

OOF that's a really raw depiction of depression. I was especially struck by the content and dialogue, like when the character is blocked from leaving the house, but the pixel art and movement also worked well. Is it just me or did the character walk a little slower each time? This game really resonates with me personally, I'm glad you made it :)

Developer(+1)

Yep! For every time you sleep your movement speed goes down (it starts at 3, and ends up at 0.8 if I remember the variables right) (:

This feels too real to me... If I wasn't busy convincing myself otherwise (I live a conflicting life) I would of been subsumed by those thoughts along time ago... In a way this game horrified me, since I know that this is all to real.  I know that it's hard but it's better to push through the negativity and look towards the future more positively.  Realism can be crushing, but it's better to remain optimistic!!
This will be featured as a Video to react to for the Livestream tomorrow!!

Thank you  for the kind and honestly reassuring words -- and the lovely livestream that I caught as a VOD (:! The pizza slander shalt never die, though lol

God. Yeah.

yeah.

I think the usage of the 'teleport back' at the left edge of the screen could have been played with more as a more blunt thing preventing you from going out, but overall yeah

yeah. I've been there

There was a little to much text but its still a good game.

Unfortunately this game is SO real, I’m very glad you managed to finish it :) I’ve never been one to ‘review’ stories that seem personal, but in short - as others have mentioned - the dialogue does tend to feel a bit on-the-nose. A few changes according to the ‘Show, Don’t Tell’ rule in narrative would be super beneficial, because the story told is for sure engaging!

Developer

Oh absolutley. The dialogue changes are top of my list for a post-jam update. My main hobby is writing novels and short stories-- and it was also how I earned money before I started Uni, so  I think I just assumed I could leave the writing for the last couple hours of the last day I could work on  it and it would be easy-peasy.

Turns out trying to write game dialogue in 5 minutes when you've pretty much exclusively written prose and when you're stressed and in a rush because of deadlines doesn't lead to amazing dialogue writing lol. And I didn't have the time to rewrite it once I reread it and realised. So, definitely re-writing most of the dialogue when I have the time.  Can't well be an author and have your one public game have mediocre writing.

Thank you so much for the feedback (:!

Nice game! I really enjoyed the representation of how simple tasks become too big and impossible to handle. The art is also cool, especially of the entity!

I would maybe prefer another font for the dialogues, as this one was a bit too big (I had to move a bit farther from the monitor :D) and hard to read. Maybe a quieter sound for girl's dialogue lines would be also good, as it wouldn't attract so much attention to itself :) And it would be so great to have some ending scene!

Developer(+1)

Thank you for the feedback And if/when I make a post-jam update I'll definitely see if I can set up a couple of settings for audio and font control, which I think should be relatively easy to do (:!  Retrospectively, I could have probably set up a super simple settings menu during the jam itself, but eh, first jam, and you live and learn lol

Very solid and enjoyable game!

I feel the dialogue was a bit too on the nose at some points, but the visuals were really appropriate.. seeing the computer desk get larger each time was a bit unsettling. The game did seem to abruptly end though, I thought it had crashed but I think it just stops? I don’t entirely get that, but otherwise I think it was an interesting entry tackling a problem too many of us have faced >_< It also would’ve been cooler if there were choices we could make (even if they somehow converged to the same result). I feel that might’ve let us get immersed better.

The message you're trying to convey with the game comes across clearly, and the art style matches it very well. Great work!

Pretty nice. I'm not really into games like that but I can definitely see the effort and love put into this one. I will finish this review later. feels like a big task to do rn

Developer(+1)

Yeah, no stress at all!!! I completely get that, and I'm just happy to get any feedback (:!

This hits too close to home.............................................. great game though

That was solid! The visual metaphor is a little goofy in parts, but it conveys the message quite accurately. I especially like the art for the little creature; it's a shame how big it becomes.

Good work! I hope you have a good week.
