How does your game fit the theme?
We had the player control two different characters of different scales: one a tiny mouse, rummaging around a cabinet, and the other a normal sized human. The player is switching back and forth between two different sizes/gameplay.

Neat game! Full points for creativity and style! Could use more audio feedback for actions like heating up ingredients but otherwise great little game!

Such a charming artstyle, loved the theme + the theme implementation, super well done!!!

Very cute game, beautiful art, great game design, also the music in the background, amazing, great job :))

The charm in this little game is through the roof! Partly this is the art, but also there is something appealing about the sense of discovery when you process ingredients to create new ones. I like the music switching between two variants of the same Harry-Potter-esque theme too. As for criticisms, there really aren't any serious ones. I was looking for some way of telling how much progress I was making towards the goal, then the game ended unexpectedly. The platforming of the mouse was also a little awkward. But these small points are far outweighed by the creative prowess at display!

Developer

I'm glad you enjoyed the music! We definitely spent some time making sure the transition between the two themes wasn't too jarring. Thank you so much for playing :D

i have played this game and made all 5 potions and the game has really good art 10/10

Submitted(+1)

This is so cute!! The gameplay is nice too, switching between to make a recipe while the resources respawn is a clever idea (except for the molten mineral which takes too long lol) ! Great job :)

Developer(+1)

And that's after we *doubled* the melting speed 30 minutes before the deadline! I agree, if we'd had more time to playtest we probably would've refined it further :3 Thanks for playing!

The artwork and music of this game is really good, especially the intro part. I would have loved to see what the potions we're making actually do but other than that, very cute idea!

Developer(+1)

I definitely agree. Would've been neat to have a bunch of unique potion names and images in the spellbook that changed. Unfortunately we ran out of time for that :D Glad you liked it

Submitted(+1)

Really fun and creative implementation of the theme! I really liked the different interactions with the ingredients, such a great detail :)

Developer(+1)

Glad you liked it! Our artist, Gamarayz, spent a lot of time making various different sprites for them all :)

Submitted(+1)

Great idea! The platforming was a bit janky but with some refinement and expanded gameloop, I would love to keep playing this game! I really loved the art and the refining of potion ingredients was cool. My only note is that the melting of the minerals was a bit tedious, I would like it more if it was something you had to manage fuel or strength rather than moving the item around.

I absolutely love this!! The style is beautiful, and processing all of the ingredients for the potions was so fun! I was delighted from beginning to end.

Developer(+1)

Awww, thanks for the compliments! Glad you liked it :D

Artist to artist, your illustrator is ambitious and did a great job! I know how hard it is to commit to a detail art-style, and they really nailed it. Well done!

Developer(+1)

The whole team might have been a *bit* too ambitious, but I'm super hyped it all worked out in the end. It was definitely a mad scramble to finish, especially the art (we only got the art for the burners done with 2 hours left on the clock), but I think it shows in the game. Between the sprite-sheet for the mouse, all of the different ingredient combinations, the level, etc, it was a ton of stuff, and Gamarayz really pulled through.

Developer

Thank you! Btw, love your pfp!

Great idea for a game! When you actually get into the flow of working through the ingredients, it feels really fun and creative, even if some of the hitboxing is a lil buggy. The splash screen is BEAUTIFUL. Hope you enjoyed the jam!

Developer(+2)

This was my first game jam, and I had an absolute blast. Sometimes it got stressful, but it was definitely worth it in the end. I'm thankful to have had such amazing partners on it.

Was a refreshing experience. I didn't understand the rules right away but I managed to get there in the end. Really great art style for a 4 day jam !

Developer(+1)

I'll make sure to let our artist know you liked it! I definitely agree, I think they hit it out of the park.

Very creative idea! Atmosphere was on point, with great music and smooth transitions between the views it was a very enjoyable game. Art was really good but intro art was absolutely stunning!

For improvements I would really like less detailed sprites. In the mouse view everything was so detailed that i found it a bit hard to differentiate what object is obstacle and what is pickable. I guess it made it more interesting and more challenging to find those object in that environment, but I feel like outlines/shadows  (ambient occlusion) would add feel of distance/depth. It would help to push the game to even more stunning visual experience.

Developer(+1)

Those are all great suggestions, we'll keep them in mind for the future. The screen only being 800x600 was definitely a limitation we probably should've kept more in mind :3

The art style is beautiful and the music is very charming. I was not sure how it implemented the theme until I read that the human was the one making the potions which makes it fit the theme a little less. The gameplay loop also seems like it would get boring for me in all honesty. I can tell this was a very ambitious game and I think with a few modifications it would be a great game though.

Simple and neat! Bold art style for a 96 hour jam. Good stuff

Developer (1 edit) (+2)

Bold indeed. Gamaray stayed up all night the last the last 24 hours of the jam to get it done. They outdid themselves!

I hope you enjoyed the game!

Really love the art style. The wizard and the mouse look adorable.

I also liked the transition of the music.

I didn't know how to melt the mineral, but I figured it out and completed all recepies. c:

Developer

Thanks! Glad you figured it out. Getting the dynamic music in was tough, but definitely worth it.

Submitted(+1)

Loved the artwork, and nice to see a potion maker game in this jam.

But this is a very tedious game, also no idea how to make melted mineral.

Developer

You put the metal on the burners in the top left to melt it :) Thanks for sharing your thoughts on it!

Submitted

Oh so you have to place it on the active burner. I see. I couldn't make them out to be burners actually lol.

Submitted(+1)

Love style! (and mice)
Was going to complain about platforming in the scales-potion area, but I learned that you can hold jump and it will autojump and get on the scales easily. I like different mechanic for smelting minerals, gives a bit more variation in gameplay. Game is short, so it doesn't get repetitive and stays enjoyable all the way through. Everything was quite easy to understand.
Also crystal ball looks like it was placed there with a purpose, but never actually was given a use.
Good job!!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for checking it out! The crystal ball was an obstacle the artist made to place in the level, but we didn't really have a huge need for an obstacle of that size anywhere else, so we put it in the bottom corner :3 Glad you liked it!

Submitted(+1)

Very charming game!
I was a bit puzzled what to do with the pot at first but after i managed to grind some of the materials I understood the system.
Well done!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for checking it out! We planned on having a more robust tutorial, but ran out of time. That's just how these game jams go :D
