How does your game fit the theme?
Our game was inspired by the sheer chaos of hitting the "Randomize" button on a character creation screen, but this time with grave gameplay consequences! Each time you grab a pick-up, it's a roll of the dice whether you'll come out ahead, so you need to decipher the game's stat system and play strategically.

This was honestly so interesting and a ton of fun! What a wild take on the theme! So utterly unique! I absolutely love the art style and vibe you wen't with, it was super cool. And the idea of the random character generator inspiration is amazing, I loved trying to figure out what all these odd stats meant. And the idea of getting a "perm" to lock in stats was awesome. Incredible job!
Definitely the most stylish game I've seen in the jam! I love the art and sound (the ending theme especially was a nice, weird touch). Hitboxes are solid as well and it all feels smooth to play. Found myself dodging hair spray more than bugs toward the end which was a fun twist.
I loved art and idea of this game. Good job!
by the way could you play and rate my game?
Oh man I absolutely love this. Love your aesthetic here big time and how creepy and fun it is! It's a fun take on the theme and I like your explanation of how you arrived on the idea.
One suggestions if you keep working on it, is that I'd make the animation to change hair slower, it started to discourage me from picking up cans.
But just a great game! I love the perm bit as well haha. Congrats on submitting and thanks for the stylish game!
Thank you so much! Do you mean make the animation faster? The cans are intended to be a bit of an annoyance in the endgame, but I may look into speeding it up as the game progresses so it'll only pause the gameplay very briefly by the end.
I thought I’d never run into a game that didn’t take the theme literally!
While it’s good fun to play, it the difficulty ramps up slowly enough that you can just keep the hairstyle you like for a while (at this point it also becomes about dodging hairspray cans) so that you can get a perm, experiment for a bit, then lock in again, rinse & repeat (pun intended). – By the second or third round the baddies often didn’t get a chance to cross the top of the screen.
Interesting art-style too. Feels very 90’s … in a good way.
It's funny, too, because after we saw almost every other game in the jam include literal dice we briefly thought we had done something wrong, haha.
Anyway, thank you for the feedback! Yeah, we didn't have much time to tune the difficulty and it certainly ended up too easy. We hope to balance things better for the post-jam build.
great aesthetic, feels unique. The gameplay is clear and fun, played it till the win. Good job!
hilarious presentation and concept. well done!
We do intend to release a post-jam version to address feedback, polish things a bit further and implement some art we didn't have time to, but that'll probably be it.
Great art and presentation. It's a fun conceptual skin for a shmup. The music volume is destructive though.
Thank you for the feedback! I'll add the volume issue to the list of things to address after the jam.
I feel this struggle of protecting my brain each day before I go to bed. I'm glad to know that an accelerated curly hairstyle will keep the flies from getting their ways in my brain. Thanks. O_O
Loved the game! Definitely one of the best in the jam! It's a little easy but that helps keep the player base positive I'm sure. Eggs in the brain sucks lol.
Also do you take damage if you don't kill them? I feel like I need to kill 'em all but that might just be my hatred for bugs.
Thank you so much! You don't take damage, no, if they float past you and off the screen they count as defeated. But good on you for getting the planet rid of them anyway!
That was easy!
I don't really understand at all what all those different styles on the right meant and what the perm did. After some time I pretty much settled on a decent far shooting fastish spread shot one and didn't take any more sprays. Except when I did it accidentally and then had to keep grabbing more to get another decent one. But the game didn't really offer any challenge.
Instead of rerolling everything some more control on what particular aspect of your "weapon" you'd reroll on each spray would have been cool I think. So you could slowly perfect it to your liking.
Really digged the art direction and the designs (especially the enemies look awesome) but not really the colors. The pure bright EGA color palette colors just look boring and clashing to me. The music fits the mood and art perfectly too!
That's about all I can say. Wish there was more actual gameplay to accommodate this awesome presentation. Good job! 👍
Oh dang now I get what "perm" means. 😅 I was just thinking of it in the curly hair meaning. So I guess indeed you can kinda perfect your weapon slowly but of course you'd need to understand what they mean too...
Haha, sorry about that! The player is meant to be a little confused at first and put it together as they play, but I do think it could stand to be a little clearer still, and yes, the challenge is tuned too easy right now. We'll try to fix that in the post-jam version!
Thanks for playing, and I'm glad you enjoyed the parts you did, at least!
And that's ladies and gentlemen is how you make a 5/5 presentation!
I love the trippy atmosphere here. Small details like changing the music after 4 perms, or adding a flavor text to a game over add a lot. I would personally collect every spray I see even with good combination, just to see the barber.
Great game!
Oh wow. The art in this game is something else. Creepy but well done creepy.
Early game is pretty chaotic in trying to find out what does what and hopefully perm'ing stuff that's good, and then in the late game I was instead avoiding cans to keep my majesty luxurious. Wasn't difficult, but perhaps I stumbled upon a good build on my first playthrough.
Good Game~
Thank you so much!
Love the style! Once I had a good combo the game became more about dodging the spray cans, which is also fun :D
I'm glad you liked it! Yeah, the design intent was for the hairspray to become a bit of a potential annoyance and liability as you progress, so I'm happy that came across.
This game goes HARD! The music just slaps and the artdirection is… something else. The gameplay gets a little repetitive at times but then the hairdresser comes up and he’s the greatest and gives you a cool change. I love it!
Very well done!
