Design: very good! the concept of a shooter where you use different weapons was actually pretty common but I like how you combined dodge rolling, reloading, and rolling into one. made it easier to play and more interesting.
Art/sounds: looks/sounds like game jam art/sounds. not great but I can't really hold that against you given the 2-day window.
overall solid game
Thanks! I’m planning to refurnish this game and release it as my first commercial project! Also, I designed the roll with GMTk’s vid on Dual Purpose Design in mind!
Pretty fun Dice Dodge roller.
I feel like the dodge should've rolled you in the direction you were moving, not the direction you were aiming, as you tend to be aiming at the enemies and it takes time to move your cursor in a completely different direction to dodge.
I'd also like to see some variance on the weapon sprite for each different weapon type. Time is always on a crunch for a Jam game but making the weapon scaled bigger or have a different color would make it more clear that your weapon is swapping every roll.
I really liked the health UI for the player. The health being the visible faces of the die was a nice touch!
A very quick to drop you into the fire game but an interesting one nonetheless, there's a cool variety of weapons included and a pretty decent way to switch. Though the ammo count is a little vague to see where trying to figure out. I did manage it but still could probably be a little more to center to make it a little clearer possibly.
Another thing a swell is the enemies are pretty small. Which was a bit surprising, it made it a little hard to find them let alone shoot them, sometimes since they're just very small arrows without too much of a defined silhouette. Which lead to me not really knowing how many there were. At least in my experience.
That's helped a bit by the different weapons variety somewhat, though some of them sort of feel useless. Especially 6, where it is a tiny, pretty low damage sorta homing attack. Which ends up not doing much to the hordes of enemies that popup with it's single target damage and pretty slow projectile speed.
Overall though, it's an interesting base that I would be very interested to see where it might go with some polish and possibly some changes. But I'm more interested to see what ideas you may come up with to add.
Thanks Ero!
The volume broke my ears, but other than that it's very fun!
Thanks!!!
is this score good? hehe
You've implemented a similar mechanic to our game, great minds think alike. x)
Thanks! It’s funny how many people made a game with the same idea, you’re like the third one I’ve seen!
Fun!
This was really fun to play! I'm not a huge fan of top-down shooters but the click to roll mechanic that changes the amount of bullets you fire and the fact that you actually consume more ammo with more shots was really cool!
In actuality, every time you roll you swap the weapons and you reload the other weapons.
Pretty cool! Interesting how you have to dash to re-roll, and you have to re-roll to get more ammo.
Thanks! I really want to flesh this game out and make a topdown shooter rougelite
Love the title. Dodge rolling to roll the die is a fun idea! Some more polish and a replay feature would be awesome, but that's more of a post-jam suggestion. Good work!
I actually plan to repurpose this as a full blown rougelike if I get the chance. It would have more enemy types, different bullet types and proper art, music and sfx!
Gonna show off that I killed 103 enemies! While certainly unoriginal, this was very well executed and I had a lot of fun.
Great game with a unique take on the theme. It was hard for me to understand the mechanics of the game at first but i managed to figure it out quickly. Good job <3
Nice game, unique twist on what other games this jam have done.
Thanks! You should really try and fix hitboxes too
I couldn't find anything wrong with my hitboxes. They work fine for me whenever I run my game.
Great game !
I love the rolling dash ability to get a random bullets fire rate ! :D
well made !
…The bullets aren’t the ones that’re random but the gun’s qualities instead.
Cool game, dodge rolling to roll the dice was a nice touch, as well as having the dice affect the weapon choice.
Wish there was a restart button. Wasn't really motivated to refresh the page to restart the game more than a couple of times to see if I could get a better high score. Would have happily played it for a lot longer if that was the case.
The shooting feels very juicy, but the enemies take too many hits to kill and the dash takes a little too long.
P.S. Got to about 30 kills.
P. P. S. Nice game title, haha!
OMG! I love the idea of a literal dodge ROLL! Very cool :)
Thanks! The sprites were just quickly made…
Nice concept and fun and chaotic gameplay. A bit too chaotic. xD
Thank you!
It's a nice concept. It does feel like the enemies are hard to kill though 😂
I managed to kill 6 though😂
I think it would be nice to have a replay button at the end and maybe a leaderboard as something to go back to the game for.
Good game though!
heh, the enemies were supposed to be enemies that had weapons but I ran out of time so I just made them follow the player and hurt them in impact… Thanks for playing!
Cool game!!, I could only kill 8, xd
