How does your game fit the theme?
We augmented the traditional Tower Defense formula with random tower generation and risk reward mechanics. Do you use your available towers now, or roll the dice and try to save them for a harder wave? And as the game gets harder, you need to roll with what the game gives you, changing your strategy to fit the towers you receive.

Nice, love it
1371 points.
Good Job!
The title art on this is super eye catching, and I thought the premise of protecting your eggs from foxes was very fun. I think the randomization + time limit on towers was a really interesting twist, especially when the wave paths would switch. I realized pretty quickly that if i clustered around the coop I may lose all of my towers before the wave ended, but if I put more towers near the spawns I could use them for multiple rounds because I could kill each wave faster.
I did run into some balance issues around ~800 points, it seemed like the poison chickies didn't do much, while 2 snipers with 2-3 ammo buffs could clear entire waves on their own. I also thought the game started to drag on a bit when I was getting foxes from every path every round, but I figured that's just because this is the jam version and the hand-crafted content ran out. Nice job!
Nicely made game! This was very enjoyable to play!
I love tower defenses!
You did a great job! congrats!
Nice work! Fun take on the theme, and defending the coop was super satisfying :D
Nice tower defence take on the theme.
I think the only tower defense game I have played in the jam! Great art and sounds, gameplay was fun, really great work!
This one surprised me by how fun it was. Honestly, the art and music weren't that great, but the gameplay idea and design was very unique, and I like your take on the theme. There was a good progression of chicken complexity, and there was enough chickens to keep the game feel fresh. The game was very straight forward, easy to pick up and play. I also liked that the chickens disappear after certain a certain amount of time, made your decisions matter, and also gave it a challenge. The game was also challenging enough for it to be fun, but easy enough to the point where it was enjoyable, I got 1810. Overall very well done, good job!
I think I found the pro strat xd
By the way, had a lot of fun playing this, the art looks really cool, the sounds are great. I really like TD games, and the twist you added to it felt amazing! Great job!
Bloons. With chickens. Is not something I thought I would saying or seeing in this jam. But it is freakin hilarious and a really fun game. I'm a big fan of tower defense and this actually sort of solves an issue with it that I've seen but not been the biggest fan of the fixes for, Which is the problem of endlessly increasing power mainly. Where eventually you just have this perfect defense setup and just leave it to go. Whereas with this each unit has a timer and so you have to plan around "Alright when will this one" disappear etc.
Although it's a little hidden sometimes which would be a nice change to make that a little more visible. As well as maybe a "3,2,1" countdown as to when they're disappearing, or something similar. Just to make it clearer when somethings disappearing. Though it wasn't too hard to play around them around disappearing as long as I wasn't messing a round obviously. Cause it was quite fun to just mess with the stuff.
Otherwise though I would say making the paths that foxes are coming down a little clearer than just a speech bubble would be a nice QoL, as well as maybe making it a little clearer as to where they're heading to. Possibly putting the coop behind a fence, that way it's just "they reached the fence" rather than "they entered the coop" cause it sort of seemed like they were aiming for entering the coop, which makes it look like essentially camping the entrance could work. But they don't, which means it does not.
One final thing that could add to some extra strategy would be maybe having some sort of risk vs reward to speed up tower generation. Could be, sacrifice an egg possibly or it could be use some sort of currency or another tower etc. just some way to strategize to make a little less up to luck, but in breaking luck you are sacrificing something essentially.
Besides that though the only real feedback I'd say is, I want more chickens, and more variety in what you can do with them could be interesting. maybe some sort of currency that you can use to extend their time and also upgrade them or something similar. Could be like an upgrade chicken sort of thing that you drop onto another chicken. Although there are the buff chickens so maybe not ? Maybe just an extender chicken etc.
Thanks for the thorough review and entertaining play through (I got to watch the VOD). I really appreciate all the thoughtful feedback and the time you spent playing and helping us become better game devs!
Nice art and I liked the lighthearted feel to the game!
Genuinely enjoyed this one! Liked how you have to keep placing down chickens! Played at https://twitch.tv/hedgein <3
Thanks for playing the game and happy you liked it. Just watched the stream now, that was some clutch end of wave with 1 egg left :)
I'm not super familiar with tower defence games but this was great fun, and loved the style choice!
Wow great use of tower defense concept
Very nice tower defense game! the gameplay is really fun and i like the style lol.
I had fun. The "towers" (chickens) despawning over time is a mechanic I haven't encountered before, although I don't play a lot of tower defense games. I didn't find that strategy was particularly important, though; I got a score of 1391 by mostly focusing on placing chickens as fast as possible mostly clustered around the coop. I think a lot of the strategic decision-making found in other tower defense games is centered around deciding which types of towers to place, so doing that randomly substantially reduces the element of strategy. But that also makes it less stressful in some ways, which is nice.
