this was so great! i really liked the lighting effects and the dark rooms, it really added to the environment! the sound effects were so well done, they were really impactful and had a strong effect! the final fight was a little bit difficult, but overall nice work this was amazing!

Developer

Thank you! I am gald you like it!

A neat idea for the game, with pick ups and power ups as part of the assembly. Final fight was a bit hard to deal with. Loved the lighting effect, using it to travel in areas and finding health with it

Developer

I am glad you enjoyed!

Nice lighting! especially in the gray area that made all shadows black, that part had some great atmosphere! There was a bug I think with the big gun, where if you aim up you can shoot yourself.

I also really liked the map design and decoration in general!

I am glad you liked it!

The bug with the big gun is a known bug we didn't notice on our final export, will fix that after jam!

Fun game! I had a blast hiding around and shooting baddies! The lighting effect is a great addition to that type of game! The enemies are a bit unfair since THEY DON'T MISS and sense you from a mile away, but I still managed to show them who's the boss! Thank you for your work!

Developer(+1)

Thank you, I am glad you like it! I know about the enemies, let's just say it adds difficulty, I'm planning on polishing the game a lot with all the feedback.

Cool game! The lighting effect was really well done! I liked the music and sound effects as well! I would consider reducing the screen shake effect a bit or maybe make a stronger or weaker depending on the type of gun that is being used?

Great job!

Developer

Thank you for your feedback! We thought of changing the screen shake depending on the gun, but the time didn't let us.

I am glad you enjoyed!

Love the shadow effect, very well implemented with various changes to the atmosphere leverage it to make the environment seem so different. Enemies are pretty tough! Until I got the second gun they were very difficult to kill. Great job all around, I couldn't figure out how to beat the final boss though, it seemed to hurt me every time I shot him, but I think that was intentional based on his movement.

Developer

You are right about the boss, that was the purpose, to take damage when the enemy takes damage, because its your "reflection", but we couldn't make it clear enough.

I'm glad you like it!

This game is like doom on max difficulty :)

Love the ambience and light (and music track is good)

Well done!

Hard game! I managed to finish 2.5 levels I think. :)

Very nice shadow effect! Maybe it should have been 1 extra pixel in size, there were some artifacts on some objects where the shadow didn't quite cover the whole object. There was also a lot of flimmer, not sure what caused that.

Doorways should have been slightly bigger. I could hardly squeeze through! Also, the deceleration might have caused it. Maybe acceleration is enough, and deceleration does not give better feeling to controls?

The hidden areas were cool too, or maybe just unlit areas. The music was very nice, I got Tool vibes from it :)

The dash sound effect should have been high pass filtered. It kind of booomed in my headphones! I think in general it's a good idea to just straight off cut out anything below 100Hz (or maybe not if you make cannon ball sounds or something).

After fininshing the first 3 enemies and finding some hearts it went much better. Could the enemies perhaps have avoided stacking up? There was no blinking to show me that I hit one of them when they were stacked.

Nice submission, good job! :)

Developer

Thank you for your feedback! You are right about the shadows, it's kinda hard to make the occlusion fit perfectly in the tilemap. Also I think You mean flicker? That's a problem in the web version, sadly we couldn't export any of the  other versions.

I didn't know about the dash sound effect, after testing so much I just didn't notice. The enemies stacking up it's a problem with the path finding, we couldn't figure out a way to avoid that from happening :c

Anyway, I am glad you like it!

Yes flicker, excuse my Swedish. :D

Ok, I had lots of trouble exporting too. Very frustrating in Godot4beta1.

I haven't tested the 2d navmesh agent, but in 3d there was a thing called "avoidance". I don't think it worked very well for me in my game, but I did check the box, hehe. I'll have to learn more about that at some point.

Nice light and shadows, principally in the maze part. The 'puzzle' in the end was a nice touch too, I was not expecting that! hahaha

Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it

Hey! What a cool game! I really enjoyed the suspenseful environment you cultivated. I was super engaged with the exploration and wanting to search everything to make sure that I have enough resources to survive the next encounter. You managed to strike a really nice balance that felt punishing, but also rewarding. Great submission!

Nice game. I did like the use of lighting and rewarding exploration, though it's reach wasn't clear in every environment. Some of the tighter corridors in the levels exacerbated some clunky movement controls. As others have said, the initial difficulty is steep, too. Nice level progression and power-ups though. Got to the boss and then wasn't sure if there was a win condition after failing a number of times. In my playthrough, the 2nd (faster) gun did no damage to him (or me).

Good work with this submission, and I hope to see more in the future :-)

Developer

Thank you for your feedback! As you and others said there are some aspects of the game that aren't really polished, but I'm planning on updating and fixing the game with all the feedback I recieve after the jam ends.

About the boss, I know it's not clear what you have to do, but there is a win condition, not getting shot at any moment (also not shooting yourself due to a bug), and shooting the boss, even if you damage yourself as you can see that the healthbar goes lower. At the end (SPOILER) you end up killing him, but you also die trying.

Submitted

Great job with this!! Level layouts were good although I found doorways hard to get through unless aligned perfectly. Lighting/shadows were a great visual addition and while the enemies were pretty difficult at least it made it challenging!! Maybe it could start out a little easier and progress to the current difficulty :) Well done!!

Developer(+1)

Thank you for your feedback! You are right about the enemies. After the jam I'm going to post an update to fix the bugs and make the difficulty progressive

Submitted

Great game! I liked the concept of powerups being hidden until you're near them, it makes it so you have to explore the map. The health bar seemed like it didn't show the correct amount of health. I could pick up a heart and it didn't fill up or take damage when it was empty and didn't die. Also, I feel like the AI bullets should be a little slower to dodge them easier as they're the same speed as the player's bullets.
Good game though and I enjoyed exploring the map.

Developer

I'm glad you like it! I also think the enemies are a little bit too powerful, just some things we couldn't polish due to time.

Submitted

I think I got to the last boss (where they make the opposite movements to you). It seems even when I managed to dodge the incoming attacks and make it walk into mine that I instead took damage. Not sure how I'm meant to get past it!

Otherwise, cool game!

About the boss, that was kinda the purpose, to take damage when the enemy takes damage, because its your "reflection", but we couldn't make it clear enough. Besides there is actually a bug that makes the player shoot himself, only in the last level 😅
