Game Description
Become a marine mammal, and have a QWOP-like experience!
How does your game tie into the theme?
The protagonist becomes an orca. The player must navigate the difficulty of controlling a body that's new to them... kind of like Kafka's "The Metamorphosis," but underwater... with a need for air... and tuna... and an insatiable (yet understandable) desire to damage yachts...

I really love the art style of this game. Unfortunately I'm not on an USA keyboard and so I couldn't press semi column and going down and catch the Tuna. Also is unclear the order in which I have to press the keys to maximize speed. I guess I have to type O R K A real fast, but in the end pressing random was working enough to go for a while.
I love how this remind me the old little flash games like yeti sports. Except for the clunky controls this is a really cute little fun game
Glad you enjoyed the art! The best (and only feasible) order is O->K->R->A, in quick succession. Each body movement gets a boost of speed if the one before it (from head to tail) was recently pressed. I was hoping players would enjoy experimenting with order and learning it, but I'm learning that drowning the player while they learn isn't the most fun experience for new players. Who would've thunk it?
I definitely should have added key remapping (and plan to after jam voting ends), as I didn't even consider non-US keyboard layouts.
Thanks for playing :)
it's pretty but *phew* I couldn't get the little lady swimmin! I really appreciate the use of the ORKA keys though...and the skip intro was hilarious. Nice job!
Thanks :) It's a lot less intuitive than I intended! There's a technique to it I outline in my reply to one of the early comments, if you wanted to try to swim again!
Pretty difficult game, the intro is pretty long but I like it!
Thanks! Yeah, I realized with like 2 days left that the game didn't really have metamorphosis without the backstory, so I relied a bit on a heavy intro to satisfy the theme. In my head, I was like, yeah, person turns into an orca, it's good. But in reality without the intro, I just made an orca game lol
Really hard controls, but as it's a QWOP experience, it's expected, really well polished, a bit of a guilt trip when I tried to skip the intro, well done, really cool game :D
Probably made the controls a bit too hard, whoops! Sorry about the guilt trip, it was meant as a joke :)
Very unique game, reminded me of QWOP, which I'm sure was an inspiration. So frustratingly hard, I never got to see what unlocks when you eat all the tuna :(
The opening monologue was cool though, and the art and animations were very nice
Thanks for your comment! Yeah, QWOP was definitely an inspiration. When you eat all the tuna, you unlock endless mode, which gives you infinite energy so you can focus on damaging yachts. If you want to cheat it, press Backspace 16 times to unlock :)
The control idea is very original, but soooo hard... It took me quite a few attempts to eat even one tuna :D I'd say that you combine two complexities - irregular keys + irregular movement. I think doing just one of them (and probably the irregular movement) would be already original and complex enough :)
I also loved the intro and the art! Very cute!
Yeah, I may have gone a little... overboard... with the difficulty curve. Whoops! Glad you were able to catch at least one tuna! I'm hearing that's not an easy feat lol!
Thanks for playing :)
This game was very pretty and the ORKA was my favorite lady. She looked quite dapper in her new form.
I had fun swimming around. I tried to eat all the tuna but I kept dying going down to deep :(
I noticed that if I pressed the keys too fast they would get stuck pressed down and I would no longer be able to use them.
Thanks for playing! Glad you had some fun swimming and eating tuna! It's quite tricky to get the deeps ones, as you have to manage both air and energy.
Interesting, I don't know why pressing the keys quickly would do that. It's possible you ran out of energy? Each body movement takes 1 energy, and each tuna restores 25. If your energy gets to 0, you're no longer able to move. Maybe that's what happened?
The moment I saw it said to use ORKA to move, that I was gonna be bad at this, but in a good way :D
I love the artwork, very pleasant on the eyes, and the little detail of water gushing out the blowhole is cute :)
I also really love the take on Metamorphosis, it reminds of how there's hundreds of different variations of the Selkie folk tale, about women who can become sea creatures or vice versa. Becoming an Orca to enact revenge on yacht owners is rad.
I figured it wouldn't be easy suddenly and unexpectedly turning into an orca! Glad you appreciated some of the little details! I wasn't specifically thinking about Selkie folk lore, but I guess mythology of that kind is so prevalent that it was already there in my subconscious. Thanks for your comment; it was rad too! :)
omg the intro xD i loved it lol. the controls are a bit hard but damaging the yachts gave me joy <3
Thanks, glad you liked it!
"damaging the yachts gave me joy" You'd make a good orca :)
This game has so much charm and style it's awesome! Mysterious lore that was interesting and I totally DID NOT try to skip it and get yelled at. 😃
The controls were my only issue with the game sadly. Using O R K A to move the fishie made it difficult to reach for the other keys (Space, P, ;). Once I got a hang of it, it become quite fun though 👍
Other than that, it's an awesome game. Keep up the good work!
Thanks for playing! I definitely made the game a bit too hard. It's a pretty steep learning curve to just be thrown in the deep end with. Whoops! Live and learn! Thanks! :)
The art looks so nice and I definitely struggled with the controls. It might have been against what you were going for, but adding remapping would have been nice to make it more approachable. I couldn’t figure out how to go fast enough to catch any tuna :(
Sorry you couldn't catch any tuna! Yeah, I wanted to add key remapping, but ran out of time on that one (might add after jam voting concludes). The technique for going fast is to press O->K->R->A in quick succession, in that order. Each body movement gets a boost of speed if the one before it (from head to tail) was recently pressed. So Head->Back->Tail->Tailfin is the key. It's kind of a design cop-out for me to say, "yeah, unintuitive controls are by design," but that's the hole I dug myself. Glad you liked the art at least! Thanks for your comment and thanks for playing! I look forward to trying out your game tomorrow! :)
If you felt like trying it again, if you press Backspace 16 times or so, you can unlock endless mode, which doesn't require the catching of tuna. Still requires air though!
Thanks for the tips! I’ll try again!
Definitely brought me back to the days of QWOP and Miami Shark! Was fun to train myself towards the controls. The visual polish on here is really impressive, and though I'm ashamed to admit it, I'm glad I got chided for skipping the intro.
Thanks for playing! I was definitely going for an underwater QWOP-like experience. Tendonitis included free of charge!
I'm glad you skipped the intro, it means putting the button there was worth it! :)
