This game made me sad. In a good way!
Well done <3

Aw thanks!

Really good game! I like the story and how you implemented everything. Had to go back and get the other ending haha. I’m not sure if the library door is supposed to be opened with the key or anything but I couldn’t get that to work.

I also loved how you gave almost every object some sort of dialogue or interaction. It’s small but its an important piece that puts a lot of life and enjoyment into games.

Only thing I would suggest is adding a setting for the screen filter. I know it was probably implemented for the atmosphere but I found it pretty harsh after a bit and wished I could have lessened the intensity or turned it off.

Yeah, the locked door in the library doesn't ever open. I didn't realize that the key was misleading until after the submission deadline.   I really liked adding all the little descriptions for the objects, there's a few little hidden gems in there (The cake description, and the wine is from my birth year and made my kid laugh), the game felt empty until I got all the extra descriptions in.  Sorry about the filter, it even gets worse as the game progresses, there's been a few people who didn't like that, a setting could have helped.  Thanks for the feedback!

I liked the 2D/3D art mix, and the music

I didn't like the insanity overlay, and presumably building up to psychological horror twist

Developer(+1)

Thanks, going for a little bit of "analog" horror vibes. So the VHS shader plays into that a bit.

Very cool story game. I couldn't figure out how to get the good ending though. I talked to everyone and looked at every object. I thought I was supposed to get a collectible for each person/building gone missing but I only ever found 2, the keys and the note left by the kids. Still very atmospheric and interesting story!

Developer(+1)

Thanks! It's not super obvious how to get all the collectibles. But you're on the right track. There are 4 of them.

I liked the atmosphere, graphic and music. cool mixture of 2d and 3d and with the effect trying to let it be some sort of memory. also as somebody already mentioned, very cool effect and idea for the world border. Also very spooky atmosphere later on ;)

Developer

Thanks! I was going for "analog" horror vibes. I'm not much of an artist or 3d modeller, so it was Kenney models and some drawings my kid put together.

really great concept and the old tape visual aesthetic, solving mystery game, especially when you did this in one week

Developer

Thank you! It was a fun ride.

Dang that escalated quickly :D

Doesn't take long for things to go wrong!

cool feeling for the theme. really liked the world & music with the shift from cute but something's off to  "oh this is a horror game" lol

Developer

Thanks! That's what we were going for!

Nice interpretation of the theme and detailed world!

Developer

Thank you!

Really cute artstyle! Also, I loved the way you handled the world border, really creative!

Developer(+1)

Yeah, I wanted it to seem like you were trapped, without an explicit wall.

Submitted(+1)

Well, it worked! "Trapped" is the best word for describing how it felt to me

Thanks!
