How does your game fit the theme?
A squad of spaceships need to rush to intercept an incoming threat.
Story / Context
I planned a longer cut-scene setting up the motivation where there is an imminent threat that the ships are flying towards. I envisioned a cluster of ships flying towards earth and then a radar in the hangar would trigger the alarm. I had to cut that out because I ran out of time. I also had a shorter dialog between the pilots (I'll attach a screenshot), but for that the runtime of the animation was way over 60 seconds and I also ended up cutting it out.
Proof of Real-Time Rendering
In the first scene, there are 5 cameras you can switch to any time by pressing the keys 1,2,3,4,5 on your keyboard.
In the second scene, you can use the mouse to slightly tilt the camera (it's clamped).

First of all, it was cool to see this artistic style, which gave the cutscene an unique identity. Cool dithering indeed.
Secondly, this cutscene could easily fit into a Wing Commander-style game as the start of an important mission, with music that gets you hyped for the action. Perhaps the music could start even earlier to give it some more build up.
A whole game in this style...would love to see it.
Definitely a strong cutscene entry for our jam. Well done!
Sick entry, great job!! The artstyle is absolutely beautiful, I've never seen anything like it before, loved it. Being able to switch camera perspectives in the first scene was a really neat touch too, I liked being able to see different angles of the alarms and that could make for a great premise for a small horror game or something. The sound design and music kicks ass too. The whole scene is very epic and well shot and the visuals and sound work together to present everything very well. The only critique I have is that I wish you did more with the Clock is Ticking theme. The alarm portion touches on it but wish there was more of a sense of urgency and danger in the second part of the cutscene. I see you planned to add some more context and its too bad it didn't work out timewise because I think those little bits would have helped a lot. Overall, this was a really nice watch with a super neat camera switching system and a radical artstyle. Great work!
That dithering is so good, I like how the last shot looks like sprite art and not 3d, gives it a good old-school game vibe
What a cool cutscene. Nice Choice of Assets and nice dithering and shader.
The Artstyle is impressive! I think that the music could have more Build up and start with an early base Tone - also you may want a combination of orchestra and retro bitcrush Instruments to emphasize on the Retro looking Art and still get that epicness you wanted.
Very nice entry!
It is a cool idea! I like the dithering effects and the interesting combination of 2D and 3D.
Thanks! I wanted to do so much more. I had a 2d tile set of a hangar I wanted to overlay and a couple more scenes I wanted to do but I ran out of time. Iāll try to expand it in the future and make the actual shmup game out of the top view.
Simply marvelous aesthetics! It was quite different from what Iām used to seeing, and it was undoubtedly a strong point
The story is clear, and I believe you captured the proposed action feeling very well. I saw that there were many more elements that ended up being cut, right? I would love to see them in a future project
The sounds were really great, truly. Despite the cuts, Iād say itās a complete scene that does its job very well
Love the retro aesthetic! Also cool idea to leave the project's source available on github!
Really cool! I liked the usage of shaders, loved how the stuff really gets into the high gear when the alarm starts.
Most of all- I'd REALLY like to play the game that starts this way!
Only one criticism- the cuts at the start (before the alarm) come maybe a bit too fast? I'd let those takes linger a bit longer, to contrast the action, when the alarm goes off!
Other than that- one of my favorites!
