Simple in concept, but so much fun to play—catching more fish and earning money was really satisfying! A well-thought-out concept where you both fish and are the fisherman, all controlled with just the mouse and simple movements. Nicely done!
Visually, it looked very polished and stayed within the color palette. The theme, of course, was checked off. The music fit the game perfectly and added to the experience.
The harpoon upgrade, though, suddenly made things much harder. It had quite a large range, which made it tricky—I ended up on the hook quite a lot after that! Maybe that could be toned down a bit.
Overall, a great and original game concept for our jam—well done! 😊
Thanks so much!! Glad you enjoyed it!
I programmed in a bug where the harpoons prefire sometimes. OOPS!
Ah..check ;-)...
Game was still fun though! :-)
This is fun! Neat idea and fits the theme great. Love the art work too.
GREAT GAME! its cool how you are the hunter and you are playing the fish! Keep the god work up!
Really solid and fun game! I really can't say much because is just so good ^^
I've now played every single game in the jam and, without a doubt, this is my favorite one. I've never played a fishing game quite like this, and I wasn't expecting it to be so addictive when I clicked. I caught 1,000 fish and bought countless upgrades but it still feels like I could master the game so much more. Every fish looks really wacky and colorful too. The audio enhances the experience quite well and feels quite polished.
The game is very replayable and fits the spirit of the jam perfectly. I'm shocked how well the color palette lent itself to such a wide array of fish. If I had some minor nitpicks, the prices are a bit off. One upgrade is only $14 yet very powerful. It's also too hard to survive consistently after buying a harpoon, IMO.
I will definitely buy this on Steam day 1 if you put it there.
It means so much to us that you enjoyed it and played it so thoroughly!! Thanks so much for your feedback and support!!
My favorite game of the jam so far.
It's simple, yet has a very great game loop that makes you keep playing to get the upgrades.
The art style is just phenomenal.
Great game!
I am very glad you enjoyed it!
Great use of the palette! It could use more explanation of how the mechanics work, but it's a great idea and the art and music are great.
very cool take on the theme and very well done all around!
IS VERY FUNNY , the art is very good and the game loop is so good Being the fish and the fisherman at the same time is a lot of fun
aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah I hate that yellow fish XD
I really like the art and the concept!! well done
I agree with everyone else. Took me a minute to understand what I was supposed to do but once I did it made a lot of fun.
I could be wrong but does the special fish always come at the same speed? I feel like once you know where he will be it was easier to catch him.
Nice art, fun little mini-game - love it!
This was so fun! I love the idea of a fish helping the fisherman catch other fish xD Art was superb and the upgrades system made this feel like a finished game. I agree that a tutorial could be added and some more music tracks added. Some sort of end bonus would also be nice. Great job!
thank you! Yes great idea an end bonus was definitely discussed, we did manage to stick a little something in for unlocking all upgrades, but if we ever try adding more mechanics I think a secret mode could be cool!
Very fun interpretation of the theme, it took me a few tries to figure out what to do so as said before a tutorial would be nice.
Also very nice art
I should not say anything as i have no music at all, but the music got a bit repetitive after a while so maybe a mute button would have been a nice to have addition
I love the idea, very creative! Love the art as well
I think a tutorial would be good tbh
Interesting idea! I love how your upgrades make the game harder for yourself. Would like to see a score at the end or something to know how well I did.
The first thing I noticed was just how many people were on this project, wow. The second thing I noticed was how the upgrades worked. I kinda liked how some of the upgrades are double sided, for example, the maxed out magnet with the multiple fishing lines makes it very hard to dodge the line, adding weight to the line isn't necessarily good-(at least for me) but I think thats what makes it good. It makes you think about what the upgrade does before you invest, fish/10 mechanics. I spent a good while playing your fish tycoon magic man
I'm grateful to have many friends! I am glad you enjoyed the nuance of the upgrades, it was an interesting design goal for me.
